Your edit summary here removes a "citation needed" tag and adds a source, then your edit summary states "not sure why it was there in the first place". I added the tag here because it was unsourced. I'm confused as to why you would remove a citation needed tag, add a citation, and then ask why the citation needed tag was there? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 03:32, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- Ask yourself that question. Looking at some other Pan-Am venue articles, you added the "{{citation needed}}" tag beside the Pan-Am names in which are already correct. For example here, in which clearly is listed as the official name used exclusively only during the games at the official website. ///EuroCarGT 04:35, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- You point out that I added a "citation needed" tag to Ricoh Coliseum with this edit--to an article that made a fairly significant unsourced statement (a temporary name change for a major event). Verifiability is a cornerstone of Wikipedia editing. Many of the Pan Am Games articles were in need of cleanup, and some had large sections which were unsourced. If an editor adds an unsourced statement to a Wikipedia article, and then their edit gets tagged or reverted, it's a sloppy editor who responds "well, if you had only done the research and checked their external website. you would have seen that my edit was correct". The source must be added to the Wikipedia article, and it wasn't. Are you accusing me of bad faith editing by adding "citation needed" tags to unsourced claims made in some Pan Am Games articles? Magnolia677 (talk) 10:38, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm not saying you should be blocked or something similar to that sort. I am saying that the names were correct and you just went ahead and rapidly tagged "{{citation needed}}" to some alternate/temporary names of the Pan Am venue articles, remember we are experienced Wikipedia users/editors we are here to build and improve an encyclopedia, it is our job to do our best to improve it, if you see something you might think is wrong, factual or similar, then it is our job to at least fix/improve it, unless if their is no way to fix the problem, then we tag/challenge/remove it. Say for example for the police, do the police start shooting their guns to solve the issue, no, they need to investigate and see what they can do to solve the issue. Also if a new, inexperienced editor added for example added "the BMO Field will be referred as Exhibition Stadium during the games" to BMO Field regarding the temporary name for the Pan-Am games, leaves it unsourced, we shouldn't bite the newcomers by adding a {{citation needed}} and dubbing "it was unsourced so let's just tag the work and move along!", we should at least see if we can fix it ourselves and welcome the user by letting them know, "hey, welcome to Wikipedia! Regarding your recent edits, please note that all work should be verifiable and must include reliable sources". If it was a experience editor, then it should also apply to them as well. I appreciate your work on many Toronto 2015-related articles. Best, ///EuroCarGT 16:05, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
