Hi. When you recently edited New York Comic Con, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page West Side (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Cut and paste move

[edit]

Your move of HMCS Windsor to HMCS Windsor (SSK 877) by cutting and pasting has lost the edit history of the article, so that is not the way to do it. It will need to be repaired to restore the attribution of the content, see Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves, so I will report it at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Please ensure that future moves are done correctly. - David Biddulph (talk) 01:52, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Is there a reason for changing links to avoid redirects (e.g. "US Navy hull classification symbol" to "US Navy hull classification symbol") ? See Wikipedia:Link#Redirects. You might like doing disambiguation. DexDor (talk) 08:01, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This might intrest you: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#AnimeCons.com AnimeCons.com is being questioned as a reliable source and it is used in alot of articles. Hi there! We at Anime Milwaukee, are working on these issues and getting this resolved, however it takes some time to get this completed in our infrastructure. Re: Metrocon

[edit]

The History section looks okay, the sources are covered by reliable ones that cover the events of what happened, I agree that it should stop there unless other sources say otherwise. As for the history section is it possible to make it more balanced in a positive way? - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 00:24, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I will try and look for some more sources then too, if vandalism continues just ask for a semi page protection to be put in place. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 02:38, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for restoring the other two tags. Did not mean to remove all of them, and didn't catch that I did. I'll try to work on those issues this week. Hooper (talk) 17:31, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I found some sources and have added them to the article along with a deprod, looking at the Event History it was hard to believe a convention ongoing for 12 years now would not get somethings about it, though the article still does need work. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 18:47, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Cons

[edit]

The problem is that Animecons.com is not a reliable source, the info there is fan submitted (I made a post here too for you to check out if you wish: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga#Phasing out Animecons.com). Rather than mass delete the source from the articles i think it is best to phase out the info and replace it with reliable sources. For example Anime Festival Orlando had ANN coverage on the guest updates for 2011 and 2012, ANN is a reliable source when it comes to news reports (Not the encyclopedia part). - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 00:57, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I also have a large issue with Animecons.com. You mention them in almost every edit you do that they are a "reliable" source for numbers. However all of those numbers are submitted from the conventions themselves and thus can be completely fictitious. There is ZERO gain from me submitting the numbers listed on Anime Detour's website to animecons.com. They would be the same numbers but someone else gets ad revenue. If you cannot trust the official convention website what do you want? If you concern is that the convention lied on their website, how does Animecons.com offer any sort of verification? - jjkoniges (talk) 11:57, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the input. Let's break down the issues.
  1. Wikipedia isn't a PR tool for a convention, and with the amount of primary source edits done on Anime Detour's page, that became an issue.
  2. Conventions websites rarely stay the same with frequent staff changes and for many cons, these lists will rapidly become out of date or abandoned. Animecons.com has become the defacto clearing house of convention information, and I wish it was 100% accurate, even I know it's not. If cons don't update it honestly and regularly, then that con might have problems they have to look into.
  3. If you've got a better source that's not animecons.com or a primary source such as animedetour.com please bring it to the table. So few reliable sources do Anime Convention news I would love to have another resource!
  4. If there's such zero gain, perhaps the request needs to be sent to another department at the convention that will do the job correctly?
Thanks for the input. Esw01407 (talk) 20:33, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion for Yulecon

[edit]

Hello, when you proposed Yulecon to be deleted, I must ask why, and why not let the people edit the page for themselves? Reliable sources we're given. Plus when I got back, some people added things from my account. Although it is true I did have an interview with James(Creator of Yulecon) on Monday at AnimeFest. I don't know who put that in there but I have removed it. Please understand, in what ways can Yulecon be improved?

Thank you for your time. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arceus2072 (talkcontribs) 17:05, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion from Yulecon (Part 2)

[edit]

Hmm.. I see, well, can you at least please give me more time to figure things out? I may have been on the wiki for 2 years, but I'm still learning on the whole page thing for reliable resources. If you can't, then I guess I can understand.. :/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arceus2072 (talkcontribs) 04:31, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, what if I can't be able to find any more resources? All resources have pretty much been found from what I have been looking up online. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arceus2072 (talkcontribs) 00:54, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But wait, I just checked the history on Yulecon, and the one who nominated to delete Yulecon was you. So I suppose I ask you to userfy a copy to my account then? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arceus2072 (talkcontribs) 01:49, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, also earlier I believe you said that Yulecon is likely won't be deleted, how so? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arceus2072 (talkcontribs) 01:09, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Youmacon guests

[edit]

Potter Puppet Pals at Youmacon 2008, Youmacon 2009, and Youmacon 2010. Angry Joe at Youmacon 2010 Illuminatus 2.1 at Youmacon 2010 Caitlin Glass at Youmacon 2012. Harry and the Potters at Youmacon 2012. Tom Wayland and Carrie Keranen at Youmacon 2012 Carrie Keranen had to cancel her Youmacon 2009 appearance.

And to top it off, here are the guest pages from the years in most dispute as they were listed on Youmacon's website. 2009 2011 2012

Face it: AnimeCons is often not a reliable source, and there's been heavy discussion on that very topic multiple times at Wikiproject: Anime and Manga. Please do not attempt to use it as the be-all-end-all source.

And if you're going to list bands as one entry instead of each individual band member, why split up groups like DMG and TFS into individual members? Consistency is important. - 69.14.66.237 (talk) 23:28, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

While interesting, I do not believe any of those would qualify as sources, probably under primary source and reliable source. AC, while not perfect, is about the only source that actually gathers this information (reliably), I would suggesting submitting any problems you have found to them about there processes. Have to checked for any Newspaper, TV, Magazine, Animecons.com or Anime News Network articles/press releases that could confirm your changes? The whole article has a problem with sourcing in general it seems, that will have to be addressed at some point. Esw01407 (talk) 19:50, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Las Vegas vs. Las Vegas Valley

[edit]

Most of the Las Vegas conventions and such are actually held in Las Vegas Township, Paradise, Nevada, Winchester, Nevada, Enterprise, Nevada and other places. So to say that they are held in the city is simply wrong. However to keep Vegas in the name, the Valley link covers the entire area and keeps Vegas in the name which most readers find less confusing then saying Paradise, Nevada. The city only has about 5% of the Las Vegas rooms and about the same in casino revenue compared with the rest of the valley. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:37, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I just created the Salt Lake City Comic Con article. Please do not undo my changes on Comic Con — Preceding unsigned comment added by Giraldezjota (talkcontribs) 19:39, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your article was not yet created, that is why it was undone. Re-add it if you wish, but the article needs extensive work first. It has no secondary sources and questionable notability right now. Esw01407 (talk) 19:47, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I know, I am not a big wikipedian... I know people will work in my article... Hey there. ACen's 2014 attendance has been officially announced on their website: http://www.acen.org/content/official-numbers-2014

Type 218 submarine

[edit]

Dear Esw01407, you changed my edit back from "Type 214" to "Type 216".

The Type 216 submarine still exits only as a sketch or a design concept.

According to range and endurance the Type 214 submarine is more than sufficient for Singapore. The Archer class submarine is far smaller than Type 214 submarines. The Type 216 proposed to Australia is far bigger.

There is no evidence that the Type 216 was proposed to India as stated. India did chose the Scorpène-class submarine. This submarine is about half size of Type 216 but about the same size as Type 214.

There is also no evidence that the Type 216 was proposed to Canada as stated. The Canadian Victoria class submarine is just half the size of a Type 216 and Canada didn't ask for new submarines at all. The Canadian submarines are "relatively" young. The first torpedo was fired in 2012!

There is no source except this entry at Wikipedia that the Type 218SG is somehow linked to the Type 216 except both base on Type 214.

The submarines for Singapore Navy are essentially Type 214 submarines. The submarines were rebranded due phonetic problems.

The name change is not merely to allay suggestions that ThyssenKrupp's current Type 214 subs were rebranded as "214" sounds like "sure to die" in Cantonese while "218" has a more auspicious "sure to prosper" ring to it. :-) http://kementah.blogspot.de/2013/12/republic-of-singapore-navy-type-218sg.html

My suggestion: The design is expected to be based on the Type 214 submarine, which has been in service with Republic of Korea Navy, Hellenic Navy and Portuguese Navy and is on order for Turkish Naval Forces.

MHalblaub (talk) 13:24, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'll address this point by point.
1. After reviewing the source for Type 216, using "proposed" was a poor word choice on my part. I have corrected this, thank you for pointing it out.
2. The Type 216 program might be on paper, but they are looking to the future as India is looking for more submarines (Project 75I) due to the current disaster there program has experienced from refits to sinking's. The Victoria class Canadian reactivation has had documented issues at every stage of the process. The source discussing the Type 218SG to Type 216 is defense-update.
3. We actually do not know what design was chosen officially, as it was not mentioned in any of the official information released. Most sources are simply speculating, including the one you've posted. To better address this situation, I've made changes to the article (with sources) listing both the 214 and 216 as possibilities until official information becomes available.

IndyCar Series template

[edit]

Hello. I was going back and making an {{2014 IndyCar Series}} iteration of the template to add to last season's individual race articles and didn't realize that the {{IndyCar Series}} (no year iteration) was an "evergreen" template. So I screwed up and made a mistake when I "moved" it to an individualized {{2015 IndyCar Series}} (so it would remain accurate for all the individual 2015 race articles). I then realized it was in fact meant to be an "evergreen" one so I tried to put it back as it was before. I think I managed to put it back as it was prior to my "moving it". If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ramencon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your recent editing history at Lycoming Mall shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Sorry for lurking on an admin's talk page but I noticed your query and did the basic search. If this was a first time page creation I'd say we could shepherd this to mainspace pretty easily but given the multiple previous deletions, this may take a bit of doing. It helps that the last deletion was 5 years ago. It doesn't help that among the list of sources, we don't see much that isn't local coverage. I think this link and this one are sufficient on their own to get this past WP:NOTE. The former is the startup story and the latter talks about community financial impact. The second link also gives a reliable source for attendance numbers too. This is a big convention and in a state capitol city. Anyway if I can help, I'll be watching the draftspace. BusterD (talk) 22:27, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Shuto Con

Hello Esw01407,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Shuto Con for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Hello. I recently tried to add TotalCon to the page and it was removed. TotalCon has grown significantly; its far larger now than VeriCon ever was. Is there any way we can put it back? Thanks Rgd117 (talk) 22:12, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1 Oh. Thanks for catching those. I left them because they were blue, but uh, didn't follow enough due-diligence. Cheers! Elfabet (talk) 21:27, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! These lists are very hard to maintain, lots of edits from various editors who are not experienced/non articles/just about everything. Esw01407 (talk) 16:55, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pullman Square

[edit]

Why did you assess Pullman Square as C-class for WP:MALLS despite being ranked GA-class on every other project? Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 21:58, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article didn't seem that deep at the time to me, not sure how it got to GA status. Also, it is painfully out of date. I am newer at giving assessments, therefore if we are deferring to another projects/persons rating, that's fine. Gave the best rating I thought was appropriate at the time. Esw01407 (talk) 22:29, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That still creates a contradiction from a ranking and navigational standpoint. If other projects have ranked it GA and you don't feel it's GA anymore, that's what WP:GAR is for. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 23:15, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

about Black Hills Anime Convention

[edit]

Hi I was wondering when the page or if a page for the new Black Hills Anime Con will be created, thanks in advanced when or if it does get created Ninja v3 (talk) 01:19, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, there seems to be a good amount of news articles about the con considering it's a first year convention. This would probably be classified as a Multi-Genre convention. If you are interested in creating the article yourself, Wikipedia:Articles for creation can help you. Esw01407 (talk) 14:54, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thank you, I am still learning the in's and out's of wikipedia even though I been using it for info for so long, I will try to create the page for it even though I am bad at this sort of stuff, sorry about saying it was a anime con I forgot about Multi-Genre Cons that would be my bad should have looked at the page more closely, and its Rapid City's comeback convention after the last one fell off the deep end Ninja v3 (talk) 18:13, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Esw01407,

I see you had made an editorial decision to remove a link to a website that I manage and referred to this website as "fake". I am referring to a link that had been previously posted on this page: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Cressona_Mall

I am very curious as to how you determined this to be a "fake mall website"?

There is nothing "fake" about it. All posted information is correct and updated regularly from personal contacts and or other reliable sources (same as you Wiki editors gather the information you use). This website contains the most accurate information about the stores located in this mall and this website also follows all copyright and trademark laws under the Fair Use doctrine. Wiki's own policy says this is permitted on the following page: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links

To quote policy, "or it uses the work in a way compliant with fair use."

Also note, that in lieu of anything more official, the site I manage at CressonaMall.com is as official as it currently can be, considering its current situation and resources.

thanks, Ray — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.49.198.126 (talk) 06:34, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've removed it as it's not the malls official website. I've linked the Cressona Mall - Mason Asset Management website as it's the closest thing to an official website that currently exists. Esw01407 (talk) 17:26, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to Revive WikiProject:Shopping Centers!

[edit]

Hey there, Esw0107! I'm Windyshadow32, a new member of the sadly inactive Wikiproject Shopping Centers. I am trying to revive this project to highlight the unique stories of malls across the country and the world especially as we lose more and more of them. Undoubtedly, we will lose shopping malls due to the challenges we face at this moment. Your account was listed as involved in the project, and I would like to know if you would like to help revive it! I can't take on this massive project without you! Please let me know if you'd be willing to help; I really appreciate it!

Windyshadow32 (talk) 07:16, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I am not trying to give you a hard time with my reverts but am confused on your reasoning. I don't see any harm in putting in cancelled events as these are recorded through the sources used. Having a major event cancelled or having even a guest cancel can be seen as a big deal. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 00:26, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Haram999 (talk) 15:53, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited PortConMaine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Steve Miller. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi, Just wanted to say thank you for your edits/help on the Saudi Arabia Comic Con page, Unfortunately I've only just realised I misread the Arabia website and thought it was basically a rebrand, I didn't realise it was 2 separate entities so my apologies for my part in the mess up, Thanks again for your help it's greatly appreciated, Thanks, Warm Regards, –Davey2010Talk 21:54, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! The sourcing for the Saudi Comic Con is messy and confusing, as it appears, the convention just disappeared after one or two years. That editor who came in and got banned was a bit of a pain on top of things. Comic Con Arabia does look like it could meet notability, but a more experienced editor would have to build up the article. Esw01407 (talk) 22:01, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Same here - thank you. Missed the forest for the trees. Ravensfire (talk) 23:27, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notable gaming conventions edit removal

[edit]

Hi, I added a convention to the list, but you removed it. It is a notable event, with 700 semiregular attendees and 50-100 attendees per biweekly event, and we have playtesting here as well as many games running at once. Is there a reason that this is not considered a notable gaming convention? Thank you for your time! Acroysdale (talk) 00:43, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Recent template updates

[edit]

Hey, I saw that you readded the colors for each team onto the template, however, the removal of the text wrapping makes the template look somewhat janky lol. Could we add the text wrapping back so that the width of the template is fixed? SteeledDock541 (talk) 03:31, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The only change I made was to take the breaks out of the team names and tweak the colors a little, similar to the Template:Formula E teams. Taking those breaks out make the template colors less hard hitting, which would make the addition of the colors more acceptable. Esw01407 (talk) 12:11, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ok, that's fine I guess. From a small screen, the expanded template is larger than the designated width of the unexpanded template, so it doesn't look as clean. I guess it's not too big of a deal but I just wanted to point that out. SteeledDock541 (talk) 17:11, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
