Thanks for the explanation! May I suggest contacting an admin here to help you accomplish this? I think they could do it much cleaner. You can place {{Admin help}} here on this talk page explaining what you need done or you can request help at the Teahouse. I also suggest placing a note on this User page along with the other User pages connecting the accounts. For example, if this is the account your will use going forward, note that on the old accounts then place a note on this account stating the old ones. That way is it clear. Hi Est. 2021! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Shrine of Our Lady of the Hens that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. As it happens, at a glance (and I'll emphasize just at a glance), my sense is that your title is actually the proper one for that page. The reason I did so, then, was to impress upon you the need for aiming at reaching consensusbefore making moves that are likely to be contested, through the WP:RM mechanism. Some of your userbox changes are causing category redirects to be populated en mass - see User:RussBot/category redirect log for some of the ones that have already come up. This is because the changes do not always match the categories as they exist and the code on the boxes does not offer the option to fix the problem. We have so many redirects because category names are not universal and there is risk of them being miscategorised. A bot can correct manual entries but not templates. Template:Resolve category redirect has recently been set up which aims to overcome the problem when applied but it needs to be worked in by those familiar with the convoluted code involved. Why did you radically redesign a project userbox that has been in use for more than a decade? Contrary to the simplistic edit summary "update", this was a big change to one of the project's key visual identifiers. I'll gladly follow the consensus if one exists, but in my opinion this was not an improvement. @Toll Booth Willie: The standardisation of WikiProject userboxes has been discussed already (on various pages, you can find a summary here), but this picture change was not part of those discussions, you're right. I personally preferred as default the image from subproject Newspapers to the old picture just because I couldn't find a defined and squared version of the old one (File:EdMurrow.jpg), sorry. Don't hesitate to make suggestions, if you have a better picture. Notice that you can also fix it manually adding customised parameters to my version of the page. Here is an example:
That's better than replacing the Murrow image with clipart. I understand the attraction of standardization, and I have no problem with any behind-the-scenes changes you want to make to the code or the template call, but I don't think either WP:JOURN or Wikipedia in general is better served by shoehorning a non-square image into a square box. There was nothing wrong with the design as it was. I am not a member of WP:UBX, so I didn't see the previous discussion on this. Had there been an outreach to the individual affected WikiProjects, or to the creators of the affected userboxes, I would have requested that you include an image-width variable so that non-square images could be accommodated gracefully. If there's some reason that can't be done, then re-crop the Murrow image to square dimensions. There's plenty of negative space to work with, and it's a public-domain image. And to make sure I am not leaving a mistaken impression to the contrary: I am not speaking for WP:JOURN, as there has been no discussion about this at that venue. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
