I know John Mayer is taper-friendly and allows sharing of live recordings, however has Z100 given their permisson for this show to be re-distributed as well? It is not offered as a download on their site, only streaming in a flash-player, so I would be hestitant to link to it if you are not 100% certain it is not a violation of WP:COPY. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of In the Good Old Summertime (song), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.adkinsfamily.org/in%20the%20good%20old%20summertime.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 19:24, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, the bot doesn't know about expired copyrights, eh? Good thing you do. Thanks for starting that article. I moved it to "In the Good Old Summer Time", as that is how it is rendered in the original published sheet music. One point I was wondering about-- you call it a "folk song"-- how so? Is there evidence the song was already known before the Tin Pan Alley publication? Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 21:05, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. I'll change the wording. Have a good old summer time, -- Infrogmation (talk) 21:19, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ODU - John R. Broderick article

[edit]

Good morning,

My name is Jason Phenicie and I am the Director of Technology for the Office of Institutional Advancement at Old Dominion University. The Acting President, John R. Broderick, has requested that information about him be placed on Wikipedia so that prospective students and other constituencies interested in the University can be informed about its current leader. I posted his approved biography to Wikipedia yesterday, but it was deleted because we have the official biography posted on our website under "Office of the President." This approved biography was written by Jennifer Mullen, Vice President for Marketing & Communications and approved by Acting President Broderick. If you need to receive authorization to have this bio posted on Wikipedia, she can be reached at jmullen@odu.edu - any other questions, you can contact me at jphenici@odu.edu. I seek your guidance on where to go from here to have this article posted.

Thank you. Trackermw (talk) 12:40, 23 July 2008 (UTC) trackermw[reply]

You removed the CSD copyvio tag from INS Car Nicobar, but gave no reason for doing so. It and INS Chetlat use the same copy/pasted text from the news article[[1]] with only slightly reordering of the sentences and minor changes. The first line of each is taken from the first sentence of the article. Sentences 3-5 is taken from the second paragraph, with periods added. Paragraph 2 comes from the article's forth and fifth paragraphs. The part from the forth only drops the "According to" lead. The rest is pretty much word for word with the sentences smushed together. Last paragraph comes from the 6th article paragraph. Same is in BOTH articles. Very clearly a copyright violation that should be CSDed. As no reason was given for declining the CSD, I've retagged it. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 15:07, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:John Mayer and Alicia Keys MTV spot.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:John Mayer and Alicia Keys MTV spot.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:06, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amy Winehouse

[edit]

Hi. You had opened a discussion about trimming the controversy section of the article and there has been some dialogue about it. One issue that's arisen, from the person who is usually on the opposite side, has to do with the inclusion of comments by other artists about her, and specifically, some grousing from John Lydon (whom the rest of us feel is just being a bitch). I was hoping you could come by and offer your viewpoint on this. Thanks. Wildhartlivie (talk) 08:32, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article deleted for copyright issues: Have clearance for reversal

[edit]

Hi Esprit15d. Thanks for staying on top of copyright material. I refer to the page CTV Perth, which you deleted for blatant copyright. I'm currently on the committee for CTV Perth, and so have clearance to use the text that mirrors that of our official website. Would you advise please how we may reverse the deletion, and what other measures we can take to ensure the article complies with Wikipedia policies? Thank you. Hello

[edit]

I would like to report User:Maunus for racism toward me. He told me here [2] to move to another Vikipedio because English is not my premier linguige, and then here [3], he faris jokes about stereotypes of names from other Esperantuloj. 78.146.59.194 (talk) 11:17, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those are not jokes about stereotypical Esperantist names (how can an international languages speakers have stereotypical names anyway) those are names of known sockpuppeteers to whom this editors editing history bears a striking resemblance.·Maunus·ƛ· 11:28, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please speak in more understable Anglio. Esperantuloj of course have our own namings. The names you gave are malreadings of some common Esperantlingve names. I am very offensed by your racism, and not happy with what Anglilingve Vikipedio treats its participaters. 78.146.59.194 (talk) 11:33, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon my malanglio. The sockpuppeteer suspicion arises because this anon user edits Maltese language in way that is very similar to several recent cases of sockpuppetry and disruptive editing. Look at the talkpage and related checkuser and sockpuppet cases if you please. Now I shall leave your talk page alone.·Maunus·ƛ· 11:38, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out.ogg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:DMB - Crash.ogg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:DMB - Crash.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 18:12, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
