Subprime lending

[edit]

Hey ESeymour. I saw you were doing some work on the subprime lending page. Thanks! I have been working on this article too, and I think it has a long way to go, so any help you can offer is welcome. One question I had -- I think the whole U.S. subprime mortgage crisis deserves its own page. There is a stub of one here Subprime meltdown, but I think it is not very comprehensive, and maybe we should move the lengthy discussion of this crisis on the subprime lending page to the subprime meltdown page. Not sure if this stuff is up your alley, but any thoughts on this are welcome. Please feel free to share your thoughts on my talk page [1] or on the talk page for subprime lending. Thanks!--Mackabean 22:34, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ESeymour - thanks for your note about the subprime lending article. Glad you agree about the shift of the crisis material over to the subprime meltdown page. I will work on that in the next few days. Thanks! --Mackabean 17:33, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fred Thompson

[edit]

At the Fred Thompson you removed a section from the Boston Globe, which cited a work written by Thompson.[2]

Wikipedia includes claims that are WP:V, not what is true.

Looking through your history, you have spent some time on the article. Please avoid WP:OWN. C56C 16:46, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:V is a necessary, but not sufficient condition for including information in an article. It is my opinion that the Globe content violates WP:NPOV; it's basically an attempt at a political smear, now that Thompson is the leading contender in the GOP primary. The amount of detail added about Thompson's role in the Watergate investigation also violates WP:UNDUE. It's neither of current interest, nor does it amount to a major part of his biography. Eseymour 16:53, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How is adding one paragraph undue weight? How is adding his own words NPOV? If you add the tags you must justify on the talk. C56C 18:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One sentence would be adding undue weight if that sentence is not notable or relevant to the article. Similarly, quoting a person's words out of context can easily be used to push a POV. I have left plenty of justification on the talk page for tagging your content as POV. Let's take this discussion to the talk page. Please do not edit my talk page any further. Eseymour 18:58, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is this a role account?

Is this a role account? If you have previous accounts please post them here.C56C 18:28, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely not. This is the only account I have ever used, and I am the only person who uses it. Eseymour 18:57, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow... that's a lot of discussion... Still, I don't understand, why is the info relevant? In other words, what conclusion as I supposed to derive from this? -- Y not? 21:50, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you, it's not relevant. It started as a feeble attempt by editors who are Thompson critics to invoke guilt by association. What resulted was a compromise which, as you can see, is pretty much a non sequitur. Actually, you're probably right that it should be removed soon, since there (rightly) hasn't been any further attention to this non-issue. But since there are already multiple editing disputes, my first reaction was "No, let's not open that can of worms again!" Cheers, Eseymour 22:31, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All right. Guilt by association is what I think also. Actually, since you put it this way, I say this is within the purview of BLP, so I am gonna say, to hell with consensus - this is an overarching argument. I'll re-remove it. If anyone bitches, send them to me. -- Y not? 23:28, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Keithgreen.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 00:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Not Notable?" Blackford High school's JROTC program is very sucessful for as new it is. I'm sure that people would want to know just how new the program is. Two of the cadets are in the top 10% in the state! Why not leave the information on there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.138.105.253 (talkcontribs) 14:15, 22 October 2007

I'm happy for you that your program is so successful. If it has won some special awards or honors, you should include that in the article. The text that was there just said it had been started 2 years ago and was "going strong." However, Wikipedia is not the place to promote a group, no matter how worthwhile. Also, if you have 4 cadets and 2 are in the top 10% in the state, that might be noteworthy, but if you have 20 cadets and 2 are in the top 10%, that's actually just average. Continuing discussion about Joe Wilson

[edit]

Hi there, last month you were involved in the debate surrounding Joe Wilson's page. I have just posted a lengthy explanation of why Jimmy Carter was probably misquoted and for BLP reasons the "racism" charge does not belong in the "Outburst" section. I'd like to invite you to read through it if you have time and weigh in on the subject. --Mr. Bergstrom (talk) 15:15, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Dime-store-prophets.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Dime-store-prophets.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 03:04, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Fantastic-distraction-albumcover.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Fantastic-distraction-albumcover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 03:09, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Dime Store Prophets has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not seeing sufficient coverage to meet WP:GNG. There are a handful of reviews, but on inspection they're all in personal blogs and niche websites -- none of which are listed at WP:A/S.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 18:49, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
