Proposed deletion of Miles Fisher

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Miles Fisher, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Dear Erwinfletcher, I read your comment on the AFD discussion of Miles Fisher. I would like to respond to some of the points you raised. I am not trying to criticize what you said, and I understand your reasoning behind each point you made. Thank you in advance for reading. If you have any questions for me, please don’t hesitate to raise them on my talk page.

“Miles Fisher's Wikipedia page has been online for many months and it was never an issue until just a few days ago.” From that quotation, I believe you are suggesting that, if the article really does not meet Wikipedia’s notability guidelines, then why was that problem not raised earlier. In answer to that, it should have been raised earlier. I imagine the reason it was not was simply because no-one, for the lack of a better word, bothered to do that.

“Still, many people continue to look at his page proving that its information has implicit value. Moreover, millions of people have seen his performances, particularly in Superhero Movie (it was covered so significantly that a lengthy article was written on his performance in specific in wikinews article by other members of the wiki commuity” The Wikipedian community does not judge notability of a person based on the number of times his/her article has been viewed. Since anyone can edit WikiNews, that source cannot be used to assert notability, as anyone can write a news article about anyone, even if the subject of the article hasn't done anything very important.

“The claim that the text here is nearly identical to that found on Miles Fisher's IMDB page is undisputed. Nonetheless, it is written by the same person. Both authors, on Wiki and on IMDB are "Erwin Fletcher". It can therefor not be plagiarized, as it was written by the same person. Furthermore, the Wiki article has been updated and improved upon since, with many added new external links, and significant restructuring of each paragraph with additional information listed. I do not think this article should be deleted on the grounds of a Copy Violation.” I believe you have been e-mailed about how you can approve the text you published on IMDB for posting on Wikipedia.

“Unless there are other claims against the worth of this article, I advocate a removal of the warning banner at the top. Many thanks.” Until the issue(s) connected with the warning are resolved according to consensus, then I am afraid the warning will remain. The issue(s) might well have been resolved by now, but it takes a majority of Wikipedians involved to agree that the issue(s) have been resolved, before the warning can be taken down. This is done, so as to prevent a minority from directing the course of an article, when that course is opposed to the view of the majority. The procedure I have outlined is based upon a principle, not because the community believes you personally will take the article in the wrong direction.

On another note, I believe there is evidence to show that the article may meet Wikipedia’s notability guidelines. If I find that there is enough evidence to show that it does meet them, I will argue that case. JEdgarFreeman (talk) 15:53, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the WP:AfD was Keep. You can read the final results of the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miles Fisher. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 20:59, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of content

[edit]

Please do not remove content from the lede of articles, as you have done at WP:LEAD. I notice you also removed multiple valid citations to WP:RS sources. Per WP:LEAD, the lede should function as a summary of the entire article. Cirt (talk) 22:07, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
