Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Erikbratt, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Pelin Thorogood, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  Chzz  ►  00:27, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Pelin Thorogood has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable, based on PR, self-promotional primary sources; lack of independent reliable sources to show notability; WP:BIO

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  Chzz  ►  00:27, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Objecting to proposed deletions

[edit]

Hi, Erikbratt. I happened to notice an edit summary at Pelin Thorogood in which you said you objected to the page being deleted.

Notice that if you object to a proposed deletion, you should remove the {{Proposed deletion/dated}} template (also known as a "prod") from the page. If that template remains in place for seven days, the page will be deleted, but any editor who objects to the deletion can remove the tag and prevent that. The page may still be deleted after a discussion, but all editors will have an opportunity to share their reasons for keeping or deleting the page in that discussion.

Happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 01:29, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you ... someone appeared to have removed that language after my additional edits. Will continue to improve it.Erikbratt (talk) 06:05, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do; although it is fine to object to the proposed deletion, it could still go through a deletion discussion, which could result in deletion, because of the lack of independent reliable sources to show notability; WP:BIO.
I noticed you added a blog as a reference, but that isn't a reliable source.
I'll check back on it, in some time, and see how it is going. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  10:30, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thank you. I'll take out that reference then and put in more third-party references. Erikbratt (talk) 17:29, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do, because currently, refs 1 and 2 are things he wrote, not articles about him. Ref 3 is PR, and at best a passing mention - although, actually I can't even see his name listed there.
Currently, it doesn't meet the notability requirements, specifically WP:BIO. I'll check back, in a week or so. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  19:15, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Please note, external links should not be used within the body of the article; they should only be used as either a) references, or b) in "External links".

There are quite strict rules on what can appear in "External links" too, so please see WP:EL.

Thanks,  Chzz  ►  01:13, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, will review and fix. Thank you.Erikbratt (talk) 02:27, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicts of interest: Schulman+Thorogood

[edit]

Hello Erikbratt. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Rand Schulman, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

You have a substantial connection with Rand Schulman (under deletion discussion) and Pelin Thorogood (oopsie, deleted!), and a massive conflict of interest writing about them ([1][2][3][4][5][6]). Please refrain from authoring articles about them, and from adding cites or external links to their publications or organizations. Cheers! JFHJr () 21:30, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
