Information icon Hello, ErikaH93. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page International Institute of Social Studies, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 21:29, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

June 2018[edit]

Erika, I have reverted your edits to International Institute of Social Studies - please respond to the above notice and clarify what your relationship with the institute is before continuing to edit the article. Also note that you should not be marking your edits as "minor" unless they meet the criteria outlined at that link, which yours did not. Melcous (talk) 14:03, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Melcous, I am sorry for the mistakes I made. It's the first time I am editing a Wikipedia article and I am still struggling with how everything works. For example, I just found out what a Minor edit actually entails. I am an intern at the Institute and the team I work with thought I could edit the page since I might have more of an outside perspective. Although I am not sure how or where I need to provide that information, is it then okay for me to edit the article? I would be more than happy for any beginners advice.

Hi Erika, as an intern you are considered by wikipedia to be an employee (see this page under Meaning of "employer, client, and affiliation"). This means you must disclose your connection using the Template:Paid on your user page and you are requested not to edit the article directly. Instead you may make suggestions on its talk page. See here for more details. If you have further questions about this, feel free to ask them here. Thank you, Melcous (talk) 10:57, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for all the information, I was not aware I shouldn't be editing the page. From now on I will add my suggestions in the talk page. I will also have a look at the affiliation template.
