Re some of those ideas

[edit]
  • Give me a night or two and I could probably come up with a subpage for the FILMCORE anniversaries - sticking in their release dates and a switch template to display a coloured number denoting how old it is, with red for "irrelevant" years (23, 47, etc) and green for "relevant" years like 10 or 15. Only thing that would need manual updating would be when the core list changes.
  • I'm a Belfast man, so the Belfast Film Festival and the Belfast Festival at Queen's are both nearby for me, plus the Queen's Film Theatre sometimes gets noteworthy guests. I've managed to meet David Lynch and Liam Neeson through things like that, so if anything else comes up I'll grab a camera for them
  • I'm opposed to generating templated user messages for things like MOSFILM or the project guidelines. Individual cases where these things need pointing out are usually varied and benefit from a personal approach; and templated message drops are a bit impersonal and dissuasive. I'd prefer to just type up a response each time. GRAPPLE X 20:56, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you can create something automatic, that would be great! I had been considering a manual approach (to look at the years for the 50th anniversary or whatever). Do you think it's worth listing every decade or so? In my head, I've thought that 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, and 100th would be sufficient. If we do every decade, it may be more than we need. Or maybe not. Also worth considering is that an anniversary collaboration does not have to be core. There may be some cult films that could be a big hit to put on the main page.
The Belfast events sound great! I listed that idea because it is awkward to include recent pictures of actors in older films and vice versa. I think it helps to have pictures from the same time frame. There are some actors with plenty of pictures (Robert Downey Jr. comes to mind) while there are others without any. I mentioned Comic Con because there are a few good shots of the cast and crew together.
As for the user talk templates, I kind of go back and forth, but if I created and used such templates, I'd try to make it sound more personal. After all, the subject matter is specific and the edit is specific. I've considered giving the outreach templates an overhaul too -- they're too template-y.
