Request reason:

I understand my mistake, and I will never carry out that behavior again on Wikipedia Erichardson2626 (talk) 16:47, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

In what way was this a mistake rather than a deliberate act of vandalism? --jpgordon::==( o ) 16:57, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

About ten minutes before writing this I became motivated to edit the wikipedia page for Torstein Horgmo, a professional snowboarder. So, I decided to log onto my wikipedia account, only to find I had been blocked five years ago. When this edit was made, and I recall it very clearly, I was seventeen years old in a high school classroom with none other than the gentleman mentioned in my edit from 2011. I suppose my only excuse for doing this is that I was an immature high school kid who was obviously not appreciating the work wikipedia does to supply those with internet access a place to educate themselves. I was seventeen years old and I am now twenty two. I could create an entirely new account because my IP address has changed, but I'd rather write an excuse for this account because I must say I'm very sorry that happened and I wouldn't want anyone especially a child or the like to read my edit. It was certainly a deliberate act of vandalism, and I understand if you still do not give me my account back. I'm not sure if there's a way to verify my statements about my age or if it's relevant, but that's really the reason.

Decline reason:

If you want to come back after a long time as passed since petty vandalism as in this case then you should read and try the standard offer. HighInBC 14:35, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Favonian:, @HighInBC:. I'm tempted to lift the block here. The user was blocked five years ago and the unblock request appears plausible. HighInBC, not sure if you noticed the user has already waited five years. Favonian, I'm not trying to wheel-war here. --Yamla (talk) 14:37, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have no objection to an unblock. I realized I may have communicated poorly. It was my intention to take their statement to the community after they had a chance to read over SO. However I realize that may be overly bureaucratic as there is no requirement of community involvement on an SO unblock, and that their current request already meets the standards of the SO. Feel free to take any action you prefer. HighInBC 14:41, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Let's wait and see what Favonian says. It's hard to see much downside to unblocking this user. We can quickly reblock if necessary. Erichardson2626, this may take a little while (but hopefully not much time). --Yamla (talk) 14:43, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think feedback from the admin who blocked the account five years ago is necessary; I have unblocked it. Huon (talk) 14:45, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Yamla, HighInBC, and Huon: For what it's worth, "the admin who blocked the account five years ago" gives his blessing. Favonian (talk) 15:12, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
