The first R179 #3014 is being delivered
Hi, Epicgenius. How was your vacation? I hope that you are doing well. The first R179 car #3014 has been spotted near the GWB and is being delivered today.[1] This means that the R179 page might have to have more edits done on it. I might eventually go out to get pictures.
Additionally, if you have not noticed I have been working on the articles on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line, the IRT Jerome Avenue Line, and the IRT Eastern Parkway Line among other IRT pages. I will have to fix a lot of the dates on the list of stations articles. Stan Fischler only listed the dates for when that portion of the line opened, while some stations such as 191st Street, or 168th Street opened later. It is nice to have you back. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 00:19, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: Thanks for asking. I am doing very well, and in two weeks of Florida vacationing, I am more relaxed after all these theme parks, and I got to meet a few friends down south before returning up here. Anyway, great work on the IRT articles. Also, I will probably take pictures of the test train as well (but only if I run into it on my daily commute, though). epicgenius (talk) 01:08, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- That is good to hear. Is that why you are doing Disney-themed edits? Thank you. I wish you good luck on bumping into it.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 01:10, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: Nah, not really. I had these pages on my watchlist for a while now, but I am only just getting around to updating them. epicgenius (talk) 01:13, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Disney Transport
Thanks for your HUGE expansion of the Disney Transport article, especially for using my pictures. Out of curiosity, where are you getting the data for the bus fleet, specifically the past fleet? Thanks Elisfkc (talk) 20:14, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Elisfkc: You're welcome, and your thanks is appreciated. I plan to expand it more, though. Also, I don't remember where I got the bus fleet roster from (I forgot to note it as a source), but I'll look again. Regards, epicgenius (talk) 20:17, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- As I was looking through, I saw your description of the system as not being a hub-and-spoke system. I disagree with this, and I plan on rewriting the section, since it is a hub-and-spoke system. The difference is that it is more analogous of a traditional airline hub-and-spoke system than a traditional bus hub-and-spoke system. I do plan on including that note in the new edit, which I will do in the next few hours. Elisfkc (talk) 17:48, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Elisfkc: That's not my description, though. The text was here before I started rewriting the page. (There are 7 hubs - 5 if you combine different hubs along the same route - and 22 resorts. So it's actually more like a system with 5 resort routes crisscrossing to up to 22 different stops, plus some routes between resorts. So technically it's point-to-point transit.) epicgenius (talk) 18:45, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry about that. I just figured since you had been rewriting the page and I didn't see it before, you wrote it. I understand your point, about the point to point, but when you compare the route maps of Delta, a hub & spoke system, and Southwest, a point to point, to Disney Transport, it seems to more emulate Delta's map. Elisfkc (talk) 21:15, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Elisfkc: It's OK. And I understand why you see this a hub-and-spoke system because of this, but in Disney, there are several large hubs and many smaller points, all interconnected, which make it more like a point-to-point system. Delta is similar to that, actually, except that not all the hubs are connected to all of the smaller points. epicgenius (talk) 23:50, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- But they aren't all interconnected, at least as far as the spurs (the resorts) are concerned. Atlanta, Detroit, and Minneapolis would be DAK, DHS, & MK, Salt Lake City would be Epcot (since it's slightly smaller & there are a couple less connections), NYC would be Disney Springs (since it doesn't always connect to the parks), Sea-TAC and LA would be the water parks, and Cinncinatti would be ESPN WWOS, in this analogy. Spoke cities like Kansas City, Dallas, and Memphis link to multiple hubs, but not to each other. Elisfkc (talk) 00:35, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
- With that comparison, I can see how they are hub-and-spokes, with many hubs. epicgenius (talk) 13:00, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

Request IP block exemption - caught in an open proxy block
Epicgenius/Archive/2016 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
This problem occurs every so often, and I am not able to edit from my named account. Therefore, I am requesting IP block exemption for 9 months - the duration of the time I will be at this institution (since this proxy block will probably be renewed at 09:12, 8 March 2017. epicgenius (talk) 17:06, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Editing from 54.89.0.0/16 has been blocked (disabled) by Kww for the following reason(s): {{webhostblock}} This block has been set to expire: 09:11, 8 March 2017. Even if blocked, you will usually still be able to edit your user talk page and email other editors and administrators.
Accept reason:
Local IPBE provided to match global exemption. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:41, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Somehow, some edits manage to sneak in because the IP changes dynamically. I'll upload photo evidence later, because the proxy is actually a web filter that my educational institution put in place to prevent students from accessing certain websites (and I am going to upload the image on Photobucket, one of these websites).
Also despite having global IP block exemption, I am affected by local blocks. The above message is still displayed after I asked for, and received, IPBE. epicgenius (talk) 17:14, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Just a note, the policy for block exemption says that you have to request for it at the UTRS, not in a unblock request. Woodstop45 • Talk (Contribs) 17:45, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Woodstop45: Thanks for the advice. I already tried that twice, though; the entire form was rejected because neither my account nor my IP was blocked at the time. (When my IP is blocked, that's when I tried to apply at UTRS, but as soon as I do that, the IP changes yet again.) epicgenius (talk) 18:03, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Odd, well I guess the only other alternative is to contact a CheckUser or Administrator. Woodstop45 • Talk (Contribs) 18:05, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- I guess I'll do that later. Thanks again, Woodstop45. epicgenius (talk) 18:19, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Odd, well I guess the only other alternative is to contact a CheckUser or Administrator. Woodstop45 • Talk (Contribs) 18:05, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- The reason UTRS is the suggested venue for IPBE requests is private information is involved (i.e. the user's IP address). If the editor in question is not concerned about revealing the IP that is causing their block then there's no problem in handling the request here. I'll take a look and see if IPBE is feasible.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:34, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for granting me local IPBE. I don't think there should be any other problems with my IP from now on, at least unless my institution totally blacklists Wikimedia sites. epicgenius (talk) 18:46, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- If they do, an alternative to that is getting your own router, so that it isn't affected by that. Woodstop45 • Talk (Contribs) 18:53, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Bringing my own router is a good idea, and maybe I can enable a wi-fi hotspot on my phone if that happens. However, unless and until they do it, the school's routers should work fine. epicgenius (talk) 18:58, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- A thing about a phone hotspot is that it is basically considered as a webhost, as you can change your IPs with that. I tried to connect to Wikipedia once through my Kindle's 3G, and it said that my IP range was blocked until next year. Woodstop45 • Talk (Contribs) 19:01, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- I also have a "real" portable router at home. That connects to 3G as well. I'll have to look for it if I need it, but chances are against me needing it. epicgenius (talk) 19:04, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

On an unrelated note, I think you need to work on your stub sorter a bit, because every time I go to "More" and click "stub," it shows the dropdown, but then if I click on any of the choices, it doesn't do anything. Woodstop45 • Talk (Contribs) 17:57, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Woodstop45: On an unrelated note, I... really don't know how to fix that. It used to work. Maybe just add {{something-stub}} manually, for now. -- epicgenius (talk) 19:01, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks anyway. I wouldn't be able to fix it myself either, as I am terrible at programming things. Woodstop45 • Talk (Contribs) 22:47, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

Are the R179s CBTC-equipped?
I haven't found a reference stating that the R179s are CBTC equipped. It would make sense that they would be CBTC equipped. It says this on the New York City Subway rolling stock page. Thanks.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 19:03, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: I didn't add that the R179s had CBTC. They are definitely CBTC-ready, though, and it would make sense because the Eighth Avenue Line (A/C/E) and Queens Boulevard Line (E/F/M/R) will be next to get CBTC (the bolded services are most likely to get the R179s based on that). I heard on NYC transit forums that they may or may not be CBTC equipped. (Although, IDK, whoever posted that has only 12 posts total...) epicgenius (talk) 19:43, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- I am also skeptical. Are you on NYCTF? You probably know, but I am Union Tpke there.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 21:56, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: I know who you are on NYCTF. I haven't created an account there (I tried to once, but it gave me too many problems). epicgenius (talk) 23:35, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- After reading through some stuff, I think the R179s are CBTC-ready, not CBTC-equipped. epicgenius (talk) 21:14, 10 September 2016 (UTC)

NYCDOE metrocads
The site distinguishes between "full fare" and "half fare" metrocards, although both are offered freely.
http://www.optnyc.org/schools/metrocards.htm — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thisaccountismine2 (talk • contribs) 20:14, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Thisaccountismine2: I understand that. Maybe I'm wrong but half-fare cards only pay for half the fare. Full-fare cards pay for the entire fare. I don't know how when a half-fare card is issued, the student doesn't have to pay even though the school only paid $1.375 per trip. epicgenius (talk) 20:28, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Chinese in New York City WikiProject
Hi, Epicgenius. Just wanted to find out if you've had time and a chance to look into starting this WikiProject yet. Best, Castncoot (talk) 03:04, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Castncoot: Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do any large-scale edits this month, because of lots of stuff IRL. But I think Category:Chinese-American culture in New York City should be a good starting point. Regards, epicgenius (talk) 03:31, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
- OK thanks again, Epicgenius. I agree that the Category page is a good start. The WikiProject would go one major level higher than that. Best, Castncoot (talk) 11:25, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

- Would it not be better to help me expand? He is the main suspect, attacked NYC should have article and image, please understand why this is a big deal especially now. In terms of sourcing he already passes WP:GNG. People are move likely to expand a stub than a redirect. Needs image immediately, in fact the best way to expand the article is to nominated if AfD, per IAR this would be the time to do it. Valoem talk contrib 14:07, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Deleting hours of work
Hey, I need some advice what to do about User:Sir Joseph. He accused me of deleting vital information from articles in an underhanded way, didn't respond (yet) to my rebuttal, and reverted at least 3 articles that I've worked on: Yisroel Spira, Ephraim Oshry, and Shmuel Kamenetsky. I am especially bothered by the first two, and worried he will revert more. Might you take a moment and see what he's done? StonyBrook (talk) 15:40, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- @StonyBrook: I don't know if you've tried to post on Sir Joseph's talk page directly. However, I think that maybe Sir Joseph's objection is that you didn't add the information with the footnotes included in the Yisroel Spira article, and similar things were done to the other articles (but to a lesser extent). So maybe you can just throw in a few footnotes, and there won't be as much of an objection. epicgenius (talk) 16:11, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, he did respond. No, his accusation is that I am removing information. I am actually just simplifying, and putting things in chronological order. I am utilizing the same references. My suspicion is that he saw blank spaces, and didn't take the time to read, and see that all the facts are still there before destroying all the work. Of course I could reinstate it myself, but I want him to do it. Shouldn't he be the one? StonyBrook (talk) 16:26, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- @StonyBrook: Actually, you can boldly reinstate it after you and Sir Joseph have come to an agreement. If not, there can be concerns of edit warring. He doesn't necessarily have to reinstate anything, but if you provide the proof, there is nothing to argue about. Of course, you can mention a reference several times in the same article using this syntax:
<ref name=RefName>Reference text</ref>
. epicgenius (talk) 16:33, 21 September 2016 (UTC)- Thanks, point well taken on references, but again, that didn't seem to be his concern. I am waiting for him to retract his accusation about me removing or repeating (huh?) information. StonyBrook (talk) 16:44, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- You need to check your attitude or you will most likely end up being blocked down the line. 🔯 Sir Joseph 🍸(talk) 17:16, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- Well, I guess you guys do need to discuss these edits to the respective articles. I don't think Sir Joseph needs to retract; as long as no behavioral policy is being broken, no administrators need to be involved in this. epicgenius (talk) 17:35, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- I'm glad to have Sir Joseph respond. I'm not asking for Sir Joseph to retract. But in the absence of any demonstration of wrongdoing, I propose to reinstate the edits, if there are no objections here. Let the other editors decide if they are worthy or not. I will chalk up the personal rubs, such as questioning my language skills, to a bad hair day. StonyBrook (talk) 17:54, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, good idea. If you guys get into a dispute over these edits again, better to bring it to the article talk page. epicgenius (talk) 19:31, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Rahami's bail
Hi. Regarding this edit, the part about the bail being "set high enough..." is factual. Quoting from the PIX11 source: "What the judge did," said Kuby, in response, "was to set an impossibly high bail that this man cannot possibly attain because he's legally required to actually set bail." "So, you ask," Kuby continued, hypothetical inquiring, "'what if the ISIS Defense Fund decides to put up the money? The judge doesn't have to accept that money." StrokeOfMidnight (talk) 19:53, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- @StrokeOfMidnight: So I guess it is sourced. But anyway, most people know that the point of bail is to raise it to an extent that is likely too expensive for the person who is jailed. (I know that from watching too much Law & Order, but still...)epicgenius (talk) 20:03, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- Again pinging StrokeOfMidnight. The last one was wrong. epicgenius (talk) 20:04, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- All right. Are you OK with this being re-added, or you oppose it? People do post bails, so this wasn't meant to be a trivial observation. (The article is already huge, and the story just started). The judge is basically playing games here. StrokeOfMidnight (talk) 20:34, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- @StrokeOfMidnight: If it's sourced, interesting (as in, it adds new information and cannot be immediately inferred), and relevant, then by all means post it. epicgenius (talk) 20:40, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

- Again pinging StrokeOfMidnight. The last one was wrong. epicgenius (talk) 20:04, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for September 22
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited M23 (New York City bus), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Vanity Fair. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Select Bus Service Q70
I was in the middle of editing the Q70 page to update it for the Q70 including the table and whatnot and then I realized that you finished it while I was in the middle of trying to do it. Oops. Thanks though!--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 20:59, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: Sorry about that; it looks like we were trying to do the edit. But you're welcome. You can add your edits to the Q70 stop table, too. epicgenius (talk) 21:00, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
DYK for M23 (New York City bus)
On 26 September 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article M23 (New York City bus), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that at an average speed of 4 mph (6.4 km/h), the M23 bus won the "Pokey Award" twice for being New York City's slowest bus route? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/M23 (New York City bus). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, M23 (New York City bus)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Track Maps
Hi, Epicgenius, I noticed that you were adding track map templates to articles using Lua. Thank you. I would love to learn how to use lua. Could you direct me to a page or tell me how to create templates like these? Thanks.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 22:36, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: You're welcome. And there is an explanation at Wikipedia:Route diagram template (with a catalog of icons) in case you need to learn how to use {{BS-map}} or {{Routemap}}. I am using route map because it is easier than BS-map, and because it is faster to load and easier to use. epicgenius (talk) 23:55, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
