My apologies, but...

I've edited a few pages correctly and am confused... according to IMDB Kat Deluna's age is incorrect. She was born in 1987. I also wanted to add nominations that Kat got this year and did not copyright them. Is that no doable?

Please advise. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by EpicMedia (talkcontribs) 01:36, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The major issue is the copyright violation. I found a significant amount of the text you inserted on another website http://musicbox.sonybmg.com/artists/kat-deluna/bio and a copy at http://www.hiphopgalaxy.com/Kat-De-Luna-hip-hop-5296.html That is not permitted as it is a copyright violation and that puts Wikipedia at legal risk. Use the site as a reference for facts, understand what they wrote and say it in your own words. Make sure to create a citation on where you got the info as well.
As for the birthdate, we have been having trouble getting this right. IMDB is not a reliable source for this type of information - they get it the way we do. See WP:RS. You removed a citation that backed up what the article contained which is the best we have so far. If you have conflicting data it is best to continue the discussion on the discussion page Talk:Kat DeLuna#Birthdate to get other people's inputs on what to do. If you do change well referenced data you have to back up your change with a reference as to where you got it. Sometimes when references conflict we give both and let the reader decide.
Sorry for the harshness of the initial copyright message. That is a pretty serious issue and it is important to get that across. --NrDg 02:07, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
