[edit]Hi Eon The Sky! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |
WikiProject Archaeoastronomy
[edit]Eon,
You clearly have done a lot of work setting up this WikiProject, but I notice that this seems to be your first editorial work on Wikipedia. You seem to be unaware of how WikiProjects work. I was surprised to see that the page was created on 5 May with a list of over 300 members. This is not how WikiProjects work; they are made up of editors who have volunteered their time to work on a project in which they are interested. Given the creation of the list of members in a single edit, there is no sign that these editors volunteered to work on this WikiProject. To quote from the WikiProject Council Proposals page,
- If you do not have a group of people, then you do not have a WikiProject, even if you have created a page that is supposedly the place where that group discusses its work. A WikiProject is the people, not the page.
Please put this WikiProject on hold until you have contacted editors who are truly interested in volunteering on this project. As someone who has worked on archaeoastronomy related articles, I do not think there are enough of us to warrant creating a WikiProject for such a small specialized area. For the moment, I intend to delete the list of members from this WikiProject, as there is no indication that they actually joined the project. --SteveMcCluskey (talk) 00:59, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Request reason:
I am not a sockpuppet and did not mean to violate any Wikipedia policy. My apologies if my adding all those members to the WikiProject list caused a lot of editors to receive notifications through the new system. That was a bit of a Moonraker. I am sure the project can be re-started however, with a small group of core members.
Decline reason:
I trust Doug's judgement here, given his familiarity with the case, enough to not let it be outweighed by someone saying just "I'm not a sock! I'm not a sock!" — Daniel Case (talk) 22:10, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
