Ajagba, Ondo State[edit]

Ode Ajagba, simply Ajagba is the second largest town in Irele Local council area of Ondo State.

The Town is ruled by a Monarch (king) who has chiefs and Baales that helps in coordinating the affairs of the town. Ajagba monarch is referred to as Ahaba, the name of the current Monarch is Thomas Oluwole Adesayo (from Fayo clan) .

Ajagba has two ruling (main) clan, the Fayo, said to have migrated from Delta State while other records have it that Fayo forefather, Ifakoye the father of kensele who happened to be the father of Fayo migrated from Ile-Ife together with olugbo (Ilaje) who's the elder brother to Ifakoye, and the second ruling house Gbogbologho (the famous of all) while Gboroye one of the founding clan assumes the position of a monarch in an acting capacity i.e Regent (Adele) after the death of a monarch before another king is chosen from either of the two ruling houses.

Ajagba has two markets; Oja Oba and Oja Ode and the Famous river is Eri Ogolo named after a Delta man who settled near the river from his teen age till around 2002. The festivals in the town are: Eje (Each family(clan) celebrates this festival for seven days), Ojoye'jusu (Yam Festival), Awere, are the major festival in the town. Ajagba, like other Yoruba land is known to have a deity called eminale or oro which is marked yearly, apart from that, some of the indigent also worship Sango(god of thunder), Ogun(god of iron), Oluweri(god of river) and each clan also have shrine.

Place of worship in the town are; A Mosque close to Oja Oba market, the mosque is the third building sited before the market and after former National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) office, now the home of one of the children of late monarch (Elumaro); An Anglican Church (Saint Peter's Anglican Church Ode Ajagba- Built By the late Jackson Okunfolami(Jocecco)who died in 2015, sited opposite the Only Primary Health Care centre; Catholic Church, Christ Apostolic Church CAC, Methodist Church, C&S's, Celestial and Redeem Christian Church Of God (RCCG). The town has only one Government secondary school(Jowiri comprehensive High School, named after the first monarch) which is poorly funded by the government, Four govt Primary schools (C.A.C, Catholic(RCM), L.A and Methodist) with three private secondary schools, 4 private Nursery and Primary School. The town has well tied road to Agadagba, a neibouring town, the road was constructed under the leadership of the late governor of the State Olusegun Agagu in partnership with Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and commissioned by the former president of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo. There has been no power supply in the town since late 2009. Other businesses in this area apart from farming are' Water production companies, block industries and filing station

Early Life[edit]

‘’’Olufemi’’’ was born on September 27, 1965 at Ibadan, Oyo state to the family of Late, Mr. Bamisile who was the Elekota of Kota-Omuo (The traditional leader of Kota-Omuo, now Kota-Ekiti).[4]

Education[edit]

‘’’Olufemi’’’ attended Mayflower SchoolIkenne between 1973 – 1978, and later Government College, Eric Moore, Lagos between 1978 - 1983where he had his Senior School Certificate ordinary level and proceeded to the Federal College of Arts and Sciences in Lagos in 1984 for his advance level certificate. He was a student of Political Science at the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU); Bafem left (OAU) after the death of his father in 1986 and relocated to the United Kingdom, were he was admitted to Eden College in London where he obtained a Diploma in Networking and Data Processing. Olufemi was admitted to University of Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University, Ado) to study Business Administration between 2008 to 2012. He later enrolled at the same Ekiti State University to earn his Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) and he is currently undergoing his Doctorate (PhD) in Public Sector Governance and Administration.[5]

Political Career[edit]

‘’’Olufemi’’’ is rich in grassroots politics and also understands the political atmosphere of Ekiti state[6][7].Bafem redefined the revenue generation when he was the Special Adviser on Internally Generated Revenue to the chairman of Surulere Local Government, Lagos State, Hon. Hakeem Olaogun Dickson between 2001 – 2002. In 2003 AtunbaAdeniyi Adebayo appointed him as Liaison Officer of Ekiti House in Lagos; and in the same year (2003) he got involved in democratic process where he contested for the primary ticker of Ekiti State House of Assembly under the Platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) which he won.

  In 2005 after the death of Hon. Abiodun; He contested as candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP) for the House of Representatives against Hon. (Mrs) AbiodunOlujimi of the PDP. In 2006, he was appointed as the Ag. Chairman of Ekiti State Sports Commission, and later as Special Assistant (General Duties) to the Governor of Ekiti state.[8]

He contested again for the membership of Ekiti State House of Assembly on the 14th of April 2007, which he won and eventually emerged the Speaker of the third parliament between 2007 and 2009.[9] [10][11]

He has Served on different political Strategic Committees which included among several others: Ekiti East Local Government Congress Committee (2003-2014), Ekiti State Gubernatorial Strategy Committee (2007), Ekiti State Transition Committee (2007), PDP National-Lagos State Congress Committee (2007), PDP National-Kwara State Congress Committee (2007), Ekiti State Appointments Committee (2007), Ad-Hoc Governors Strategic Committee (2007), Ekiti State Senatorial Congress Committee (2008), Ekiti State Congress Committee (2008), Ekiti State Local Government Chairmanship Candidates Screening Committee (2008), Ekiti State local Government Elections Committee (2008), Ekiti State Gubernatorial Re-run Elections Committee (2009), Ekiti State Commissioners Selection Committee (2009), Ekiti State Visitation Panel on Local Government activities (2009). He left the PDP in 2014 before the Gubernatorial Election to support the then Governor KayodeFayemi and General Muhammadu Buhari Presidential Ambition prior to the 2015 poll which he won.[14][15]

He is among the candidates for the All Progressive Congress(APC)at theEkiti State Gubernatorial election for 2019.[16][17][18]
