"Gabungan Baharu"
[edit]Hey there, it'd be great if you could provide a source that says the name of the new governing coalition in Johor is called "Gabungan Baharu". The only sources that mention "Gabungan Baharu" are Malay language news sources, which leads me to believe the usage of "Gabungan Baharu" is just to denote the fact that the coalition is new. Sisuvia (talk) 04:08, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hi. At the moment, I do not have any English information, however, during a press conference at his residence earlier today, Johor Menteri Besar, Hasni Mohammad, when asked regarding the official name of the coalition, explained that they are still called "Gabungan Baharu", and they are waiting for the federal government to determine whether or not the state government in Johor should use the same name or not.
- He said: "What we all know right now is that we have a federal government and state governments. I would like to ensure that the state government (of Johor) and the federal government shall be able to work together as a team, helping each other out; and so we chose to let the federal government choose to name this government, whether or not shall we use the name "Perikatan Nasional" as the name for this coalition. We shall wait until the federal government make their decision."
- A recording of the press conference can be found here, and the part I mentioned was at minute 15:23.
- English news sites (and even Malay) tend to use "Perikatan Nasional" due to a common misconception that they are indeed called that. However, since the government was formed before the Perikatan Nasional government was officially formed on the 1st of March, they did not use the name Perikatan Nasional. In the Johor Palace's statement announcing the formation of the new government, they wrote "gabungan baharu" when denoting the fact that it is a new coalition, and "Gabungan Baharu" when referring to the coalition since it is the name of the coalition/a proper noun. Thanks. EmpAhmadK (talk) 10:03, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks. Sisuvia (talk) 07:00, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
Logo of Perikatan Nasional
[edit]Hello, I note that PN has changed their logo to be plaintext only, as seen from this photo from the unveiling ceremony.
I have created a near SVG replica of it (PNG version here) with the correct font glyphs, but considering you are the uploader of the Perikatan Nasional logo (which is very nice, compared to the plaintext version), would you consent for me to overwrite it, or would you wish to upload your own version? Seloloving (talk) 00:29, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi there. Yes, you may overwrite my upload, I believe that would be easier as we won't need to replace the images where it has been used. Although I think the colour of the field may be adjusted according to the image from this news article. Thanks for the heads up! --EmpAhmadK (talk) 02:12, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- @EmpAhmadK - should I use the colour of the clean image (presumably from a source, though Google has not turned up anything) or the one from the photo I linked? Seeking your recommendation as they are both from Malaysiakini. Seloloving (talk) 03:08, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Seloloving - I think using the colour of the clean image (#003152) would be better since it would match with what they use, since it's also the same one used by Perikatan Nasional members (e.g., Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports as seen here). But I guess it would be up to you since you're uploading it. I think a slight difference in the colouration doesn't matter since they haven't specified the specific colour code yet. -- EmpAhmadK (talk) 13:11, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Centre for Foundation Studies (IIUM) moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Centre for Foundation Studies (IIUM), is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 13:54, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Zinnober9 (talk) 21:02, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for the reminder. I'll try my best to do so in the future. EmpAhmadK (talk) 11:19, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

Standard Notice: Syrian Civil War
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in the Syrian Civil War and ISIL. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose contentious topics restrictions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic. For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor. |
As a note, per these community-authorized general sanctions, there is a one-revert rule in place for all articles related to the Syrian Civil War and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, broadly construed. This means that an editor in this area may make no more than one revert per article per 24 hour period, unless an obvious exception applies. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 21:22, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
