List of Olympic Games host cities
[edit]Your cited reference would be a good addition to articles such as 2010 Winter Olympics, but is much too detailed for the top-level summary list where you want to add it. It is also likely impossible to get that kind of figure for most of the past Games back to 1896, so that's another reason why it doesn't really fit on that list. But please add it (with the appropriate prose text) to the individual Games articles where appropriate. Thanks — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 22:50, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Your point is well taken, but I disagree. I think it is not too detailed for the top-level summary list. I think it is relevant information that would be very interesting to a lot of people and that it would make much more sense to see it in that table to be able to compare the information with other cities and with the other information in that table. And even if we can not obtain the data for the first few games, does not mean that the other data would not be meaningful, interesting, and relevant.
- Then I suggest starting a discussion on the talk page to see what consensus develops. I would think that other per-Games statistics, such as number of participating nations, number of participating athletes, and number of events, would be more helpful than the profit/loss figure. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 16:15, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

- You click on "edit this page" at the top of your talk page, just as you did to leave this message here. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 16:01, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia does not make the procedure obvious on how to reply to a message. If they want people to do it right, they should make it very clear and easy to do. A clear, concise explanation might suffice.
