September 2012

[edit]

Hello, I'm Ronz. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Sandra Lee (cook) ‎ seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 17:43, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning neutrality

[edit]

Thanks for contacting me on my talk page.

Let me detail some of the problems that I saw in the edits:

  • The information highlighted recent events over her life's work.
  • The material about her Emmy's added to the introduction gave more detail than what was elsewhere in the article on the subject. An introduction should summarize the article.
  • Much of the wording and emphasis in the presentation was inappropriate, suitable for a pr piece on her, not an encyclopedia article.
  • Much of the material was not supported by the sources provided.
  • The sources added were of poor quality, most being simply press releases.

Neutrality is difficult to accomplish, and there's a huge amount of guidance in Wikipedia (some linked above) on how to go about it. When it comes to articles about living people, it's even more difficult because of the higher standards expected from such articles. At the risk of oversimplifying how to approach these problems, I suggest finding sources that are both independent and reliable that demonstrate the information/event is important with respect to her entire life's work. In regard to the bake sale and the McKinney-Vento award, this likely means waiting well after the events. --Ronz (talk) 20:40, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bombay Company

[edit]

I reverted your changes to Bombay Company , folding back in the changes to the Canadian and US brands. Once again, the changes appear primarily promotional in nature, highlighting yet-to-come changes to their US website. --Ronz (talk) 19:37, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
