User talk:ElianaAmram
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, ElianaAmram, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Aaron Cohen-Gadol, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

before the question. Again, welcome! — MarkH21talk 22:02, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

[edit] As previously advised, your edits, such as the edit you made to Aaron Cohen-Gadol, give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:ElianaAmram, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=ElianaAmram|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. — MarkH21talk 22:48, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Mark - Thanks for your help. I see you've made changes to the page where I did not request any edits. Specifically the receipt of the Vilhelm Magnus Medal. Can you help me understand why this was removed? Dr. Cohen can be see receiving this award various places online and there are photos of the award itself. How can I work with you to get this added in? How do I send you drafted edits as well for the future? ElianaAmram (talk) 23:00, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Please read the policies linked above. Disclose any conflicts of interest (both paid and unpaid), and see the instructions on proposing edits in the guidelines above. You will need to carefully read the conflict of interest and paid editing pages. — MarkH21talk 23:03, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- I added a paid disclosure to my user page. In terms of conflict of interest, do I disclose that when I submit my edits? Thank you for your patience as I learn this. ElianaAmram (talk) 23:17, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. The key bullet points are here, in particular:
You can use the- you should make the disclosure on your user page, on affected talk pages, and whenever you discuss the topic;
- you are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles directly;
- you may propose changes on talk pages by using the
{{edit COI}}
template or by posting a note at the COI noticeboard, so that they can be peer-reviewed
{{edit COI}}
template on Talk:Aaron Cohen-Gadol to propose specific edits. — MarkH21talk 23:22, 22 June 2024 (UTC)- Sure - I will follow this process. Can you let me know why stuff that was previously approved by other moderators was removed? ElianaAmram (talk) 23:25, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- There is no formal "approval" process nor "moderators" for this article.
- Regarding the removal of content:
- Much of the removed material was not verifiable: see Wikipedia's policy on verifiability which mentions
The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution
. - Some material was also only referenced to primary sources written by Cohen-Gadol or his employers; one generally needs independent secondary sources to describe important contributions.
- Much of the removed material was not verifiable: see Wikipedia's policy on verifiability which mentions
- Also regarding your edits about the Vilhelm Magnus medal, neither of the two cited references (1, 2) mention that he won the award. This is again a problem of verifiability and can be resolved by finding reliable sources that state that he received such an award. — MarkH21talk 23:40, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Got it. That's frustrating to say the least, it's a major award. I have a photo of the award itself with the name included that I took. Is there a way to upload this image as a verifiable source? ElianaAmram (talk) 23:42, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- If it's a major award, surely there are official websites or news articles that talk about it. Feel free to provide such sources on Talk:Aaron Cohen-Gadol if you find them.A self-uploaded image of a medal isn't a reliable source for details about the award. Just like how uploading a picture of the actual Nobel Prize medal doesn't provide encyclopedic information about the Nobel Prize, but The Nobel Foundation and The New York Times do. — MarkH21talk 23:50, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
