Alert on potential conflicts on interest

[edit]

Hi there, I see you are a new editor who edited Negev Institute for Strategies of Peace and Development. I just wanted to draw your attention to the page on conflict of interest editing (WP:COIEDIT). Based on your username, it looks like you may be editing on behalf of AJEEC, either as an employee or a volunteer. If you are, that is something you should disclose; if not, it might be good to have a statement on your user page clarifying that you are unaffiliated with the organization. Thanks for bringing my attention to the policy. I have started disclosing my affiliation when submitting edits. ElianaAJEEC (talk) 13:06, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You also, in most cases, should be proposing edits instead of making them yourself. Please see how to make edit requests; there is also the edit request wizard to facilitate it. 331dot (talk) 15:47, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I posted a version of this message to the article talk page, but am reaching out directly as well.

This is a reminder that COI editors are strongly discouraged from editing COI-affected pages directly. Instead, edit requests are encouraged.

For any editor updating the page, please note that any statements should be supported by independent and reliable sources. That means generally we prefer news or academic coverage over directly quoting an organization's website. Solely quoting an organization's website can lead the text to read as promotional, which we do not want. Also note that taking text directly from an organization's website, or closely paraphrasing it, would be considered copyright infringement unless the copyright owner is donating the material.

On an additional note, I understand if you want to improve prose or formatting within an article, but continuing to rewrite sections despite pushback, and removing good sourcing or properly sourced statements, can come across poorly. This project is collaborative, so if there are disagreements it's generally better to discuss the issue on the article's talk page than to continue to push a change. I also want this article to be improved, but I think the two of us are approaching the situation from different directions, so we've gotten into a back-and-forth style of editing rather than building upon each other's work.

If you have any questions or thoughts, let me know. ForsythiaJo (talk) 18:20, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
