Speedy deletion of Richard Adams (inventor)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Richard Adams (inventor) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Toddst1 (talk) 23:21, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Happy Computers

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Happy Computers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Richard Adams (inventor), without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Do not remove templates that signify problems with an article you have written without getting consensus that you have addressed those problems. Toddst1 (talk) 13:44, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Put the time-line back and strengthen his notability as an inventor... one who in a time of great change within the growth of the "personal computer" as an everyday device, heped usher in the age of the PC... showing his work as being as groundbreaking in its own way as was Tesla's or Edison's in theirs. I would then be glad to change my opinion at that AfD discussion. Notability is notability. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 21:55, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can you offer sources to his education and current work/projects? I have done some searches [1][2][3], and there are several Richard Adams' that could be he. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:01, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A nice idea, but impractical for wikians. He'd be welcome to contributes... but pretty much only to anything not related to him or Happy Computers. However, you might write him yourself, get informations, and then source them. As long as things can be verified, Wiki is happy. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 10:03, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Same idea at the same time. You gave me an edit conflict. However, I have added just a few more categories. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:04, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Surprise!

The Oddball Barnstar
For your contributions to history of computing articles like Happy Computers. VG 16:59, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(Feel free to move this to your user page, I don't normally edit other editors' user pages.)

I have removed the tags and noted in comments just why I did so. Please feel free to ask advice from those of us who at the AfDs felt the articles had notability. And congratulations on your first Barnstar. Display it proudly. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 06:29, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And to let you know what you already know... I was quite pleased to have been able to assist in saving the articles. Both are now worthy of Wiki. Have you ever done prep work in your user sandbox? User:Eggzactly/sandbox? Editors can create such user workspaces to build articles, tweak then until they shine, source them until they drip notability, and offer for review and comment before moving to the main pages. Contribution to Happy Computers article

[edit]

Hi,

I have quite technical knowledge about Happy Computer products for Atari computers. I am able, and in fact interested, to contribute to the article. I'm not sure however, how much deep tecnically the article should go.

I'm a bit of a fan myself about HCI products, but I think it would be fair to at least mention the controversial side.

Anyway, I'm very interested to contact you and also, if possible, Mr. Adams. Please see my web page at pasti.fxatari.com and drop me an email. I am also active in the main atari related forums (atariage and atari-forum) using this same user id.
