Wikipedia MS

[edit]

Noticed you are an editor there. Would like to discuss some collaboration in reviewing and rewriting some articles. Drop me a note if interested either in my Talk page or via my blog which is linked from my User Page. - Bob K | Talk 17:14, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi edmundwoods. I have to disagree with u moving the articles above. WP:NC says that the name of the article should be that which is most recognizable and commonly used. I think Mustapha of Sabah is commonly known as Tun Mustapha (not really Tun Datu Mustapha). See google search which includes publications from outside Malaysia. Further WP:NAMES states that: "This guideline permits inline use of honorific titles that in general have significant sourced usage or recognition (e.g. in general media) outside of the country or system in which they were given.". And, in WP:NCNT: "Most general rule overall: use the most common form of the name used in English if none of the rules below cover a specific problem.". Same thing with BERJAYA. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 02:42, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:KTM old logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 14:25, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I didn't know it couldn't be used in the English edition of Wikipedia. I'll change it right now. Thanks for telling me. --Gallaecio (talk) 15:05, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That message shouldn't have been written to you. Sorry about that. --Gallaecio (talk) 15:08, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name in Hebrew

[edit]

I noticed that you tried to spell "edmund woods" in Hebrew here as "אדמוןד ואודס". Pretty close, but I thought you might want to know it should be spelled "אדמונד וודס". Good try though dude! --87.70.132.41 (talk) 22:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Zainuddinmaidin.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Zainuddinmaidin.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 11:40, 10 January 2010 (UTC) P.S. There is the same problem with File:Fongpokuan.jpg.[reply]

Hi, would you be so kind as to give us support!

[edit]

Hello, I hope you're doing fine and I sincerely apologize for this intrusion. My name is Claudi Balaguer (User Capsot from the Catalan Wikipedia and the Occitan Wikiccionari), I've just read some discussions and I think I have seen that you show a keen interest in diverse cultures and languages, so you understand very well what are a minorized language and culture and maybe I am not bothering you and you will help us... I'm a member of a Catalan association "Amical de la Viquipèdia" which is trying to get some recognition as a Catalan Chapter but this hasn't been approved up to that moment. We would appreciate your support, visible if you stick this on your first page and/or signing the link within the template: Wikimedia CAT. Supporting us will be like giving equal opportunity to minorized languages and cultures in the future! Thanks for your attention, I wish you a pleasant and sunny summertime, take care, Capsot (talk) 09:47, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User:Edmundwoods/Infobox country, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Edmundwoods/Infobox country and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Edmundwoods/Infobox country during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Wikipedia Integration programme?

[edit]

Hi! I am not sure it's a good idea to integrate the Simple English and English Wikipedias, why would you want to do that? Simple English is a good way of getting ideas across so that everyone can understand, and allows kids and non-native speakers a supplement to Wikipedia in English, which is often the most comprehensive version of Wikipedia available. Cheers from Singapore! (via Germany) Icedwater (talk) 21:34, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Lim Si Pin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Politician that was never elected to anything

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gigs (talk) 14:23, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Appeal against indefinite block

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Elijahhee (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I think there is some misunderstanding. As explained in the edit summary, my intention was to create redirect pages out of those links, even though I clearly know how offensive the "n-word" is, especially in the United States. Since there are already redirect pages like f*ck which leads you to fuck, I don't see any problem to create similar redirect pages as such, after all I see it's quite common to partially censor the n-word in those ways. Is there any prior discussion being made, which reach a decision that those redirect pages shouldn't be created?

Yes I admit that my previous account was once blocked, but please consider that it was about 11 years ago when I was only a 19-year-old immature brat. Do you seriously think that even though everyone matures over age, we should be punished forever for something very wrong that we have done when we were very young? If so, to me this would be akin to a death penalty. Though the legal age in most countries is 18 years old, one should consider that the maturity of a 18 year old and a 36 year old are definitely a lot different. After all, I hope you consider the overall contributions being made by me through both accounts, and see for yourself whether I am really here purely for malicious intentions like those who have been blocked several times (such as edit warring).

To explain why I have created this second account instead of requesting for name change, it is because the previous account got renamed for twice, it was first "Edmundkh" and then "EdmundEzekielMahmudIsa" before it became "Edmundwoods", and I find it particularly embarrassing and causing inconvenience to both me and the bureaucrats if I'm to request for a 3rd name change, which may be rejected in some other languages of Wikipedia or other WikiProjects.

I am sorry for the offensive edits and failing to convey my intentions, and while I surely hope to get unblocked, I hope that if I cannnot get unblocked now, you would consider reducing my block to a few days, or a few months, or even a few years. I wish to be back for meaningful and constructive contributions some day as before. Thank you. Elijahhee (talk) 18:27, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Per below. Sorry for the inconvenience. Huon (talk) 16:47, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Widr, while there was a long hiatus, I don't see how the edit was evidence of a compromised account, or particularly disruptive. Am I missing something? Any objections to an unblock? Huon (talk) 21:27, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Huon, you can unblock at your own discretion. Widr (talk) 07:14, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
