While I was gone | When I came back

I saw your real life mood...

[edit]

...and I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling down. Anything I can do to help? I hope you feel better soon. --Kyoko 03:05, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yum, chocolate brownies... thank (munch, chew) you (chew) very (chew, chew) much (chew, gulp)! Pardon my manners! At least I'm out of the hospital, so that's a start. Thanks again! --Kyoko 20:40, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the AMA!

[edit]

Hello Editor at Large, I see that you have decided to join the AMA. I'll be the first to say welcome! We're always in need of more advocates, especially since were backloged most of the time. Just a few pointers for what we do. We communicate by putting a template on our talk page. The template is {{AMA alerts}}. The AMA also has it's own IRC channel which reports new cases to us, and also new alerts. If you'd like to jump right into a case, you can check out WP:AMARQ, which is our new request for advocacy system. The instructions for how the technical part works is on the talk page. You can also use the AMA userboxes that appear under here. If you have anymore questions about the organization, just ping any advocates talk page, including our coordinator, Steve. Again, welcome to the AMA! -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk) 05:23, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Userpage Redesign

[edit]

Hello! The new page is pretty cool; it looks great! For my "favourite pages" perhaps you could put Esperanza; Coffee Lounge & Barnstar Brigade. The only other thing is, can you please tell me where a list of fonts (for use in wikipedia) are? I was thinking I might like a different font for the headers "About Me" and my "Awards" and "Userboxes" section. Apart from that; it looks pretty good. Thanks for doing this; it's really nice of you to do, and I am sure the final product will be great. Once again, thanks. Jam01 06:45, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I just noticed your redesign! It's very cool, I like it :) Now I'm gonna be torn between 3 different designs for my page. Tricky stuff. Maybe I should make it a competition at the coffee lounge or something? riana_dzasta 07:40, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think for my headers I might like either "Verdana" or "Comic Sans MS"; I'm not really sure what would be better; so you can choose because I know you have good taste! As for the colours; perhaps an Esperanza themed green page might be nice; but I DON'T expect you to start it from scratch; perhaps you could just do a copy paste type thing and just change the necessary colour parameters etc. Once again, I thank you for your work; and I have something nice to give to you once you are finished; because you really do deserve it. Thanks! - Jam01 04:49, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Thanks so much for the (completely unsolicited!) advice regarding my userpage! Eventually I went with EMan32x's design, probably because it was the most different to my old one, and I felt like a bit of a change. But thanks so much, regardless :) riana_dzasta 10:35, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now I just need to fix my talk page to match the theme! riana_dzasta 10:35, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow - just, wow. Thank you soooo much, it's so awesome! You guys are all so good at this, I feel so unintelligent :p I would give you another barnstar, but it would just be a highly redundant way of saying - you're an awesome person! :) Thanks so much, once again.
And hey, I noticed you joined the AMA - good work. I might look into it when I get some more time to spend here. OK, coupla massive assignments due, so I have to go. Take care! riana_dzasta 01:48, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ha! Yes, I do seem to get a fair bit of nonsense, don't I? It must be my habit of adding factually incorrect information to articles - of course Panic! At the Disco's new album is called An Anus You Can't Sweat Out. *sigh* riana_dzasta 04:44, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, just a concern of mine, the background of the userpage you have designed for me appears totally white. I didn't pick it up earlier because I was using another computer because I was having internet troubles with the computer I am currently using. So, if it's not too much of a hassle; would you be able to change the background colour to green perhaps? Sorry, Jam01 03:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi once again, out of the three colour options in your sanbox I would have to choose number 1 (the light blue one). My 2nd preference would be the 3rd design. I choose one of the colours from the 1st link you gave me, it was: LimeGreen #32CD32 . I hope that helps, and I will probably have one of the designs as my userpage by the end of the day. Thanks! Jam01 04:21, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I can understand what you are talking about! It burns my eyes! Might you know what shade of green would turn out looking decent? Would Green #008000 look ok? If so, please feel free to remove the horrible lime green & replace it with that. Thanks, Jam01 04:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would have to say options 1 & 5 are my favourites, but I think I will go with No.1 (light blue theme) Thanks for all of your help, the new page will look really good! - Jam01 05:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

signature question

[edit]

Hi there, I hope you are feeling better. Anyway, I was wondering how you got your signature to look the way it does. When I see your signature (or your userpage), I see what my computer (a Mac) interprets as Papyrus font. I was thinking of changing my signature so that it displays using the Zapfino font, but only if it is still readable on other computers. Do you have any advice about this? Thanks. --Kyoko 15:03, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It occurred to me that everyone has been acting as if I had just gone to the hospital due to some emergency, when it was only a followup to various things. I'm sorry for any confusion.
I am having the hardest time trying to get this signature to work. The code currently looks like this:
[[User:Tachikoma|<span style="color:black; font-family:'zapfino';">Kyok</span></font>]][[User:Tachikoma/Esperanza|<span style="color:green; font-family:'zapfino';">o</span></font>]]
What am I doing wrong here? Signing manually, -- Kyoko 21:48, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Testing signature now. I think it looks quite lovely in the preview. I hope it isn't too big. --Kyoko 22:03, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Question

[edit]

It depends. Our job is to advise advocees (we tend to avoid using client because we aren't lawyers). If I know that they've got something wrong, I try to council them on what they should do. Finding a happy medium is an good goal. Even though we're not mediators, we can become them. After all, our motto is Audi alteram partem, which means hear the other side. Sometimes it takes an uninvolved editor to help someone see the whole picture. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk) 17:17 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Advocacy request about Fastfex

[edit]

Ciao! Thanks for help. Since I've posted the request, Fastifex did not wrote anything more (maybe for time reasons). Let me know how the procedure should proceed... Bye.--Attilios 09:25, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao! Fastifex is just back, and his first two edits were revertions of early 20th data without any attempt of updating them (ie, he put them back only for the sake he wrote them, perhaps). user:MarkThomas purposed Fastifex to be blocked for continued disruption policy (however I didn't find where to ask admins for such a move). Anyway, I'd like the discussion to be public as there are other users interested. Bye and thanks. --Attilios 11:09, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ciao! I can understand what you write. OK, let's what happens. However, there are a lot of other users complaining about Fastifex's disruptions. Please don't leave the catch. --Attilios 18:15, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coffee Lounge

[edit]

Oh, you don't have to apologize! :-) I didn't regard your comment as even slightly offensive or unpleasant. So don't worry. Thanks anyway for contacting me, it shows that you have good character. Best regards.--Húsönd 19:45, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum: Thanks for the pancake. Yum.--Húsönd 19:48, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou For All Your Help

[edit]
For all your help in re-designing my userpage (and for having a cool one yourself!), I am honoured to present you with the Excellent User Page Award. Jam01 06:21, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would just like to thank you for all your help in designing a new userpage for me. I can now take pride in it, knowing it is organized, informative and visually appealing. You were patient, understanding & helpful during the process, and I have enjoyed the experience of working with you. You are a friendly, dedicated and approchable user who is a fine role model to many aspiring Wikipedians like me. I decided that a wiki-thanks just wasn't enough to thank you, so...

So once again, thank you for all of your help. As for images and information etc. I will attempt to add in myself but I am sure I will have to call on you again in the future. You have been very generous to me and I appreciate your hospitality. Thanks, Jam01 06:21, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

user talk page - one final request

[edit]

Hey E@L, I was wondering whether you could help me with one more tiny, fussy detail on my talk page. Is there any way of making the archive box float above the remainder? You know, so there's a gap between the box and the main bulk of the page? I'm sorry I can't express myself more clearly :s but I think you know what I mean :)
I also noticed your personal mood is slipping :( If you want to contact me off-Wiki, please do so.
Take care, riana_dzasta 23:38, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! Very cool, that's exactly what I wanted. I stared at Erich's code for about 10 minutes, trying to see if I could figure out whether I could fix it myself, but I failed miserably :p Chemistry is my forté - not computers! riana_dzasta 06:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oooer! Sorry about the late reply, I was reading my uni discussion boards (bad idea... ) I'll see if I can get that to work. Thanks hun! riana_dzasta 17:02, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, OK, whatever I'm doing isn't working. I'll keep messing with it. riana_dzasta 17:03, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
*ahem* I probably should be asleep (3:45AM - waaaay too much coffee today). Thanks for putting that on my page! :) I wish you could change the colours, but that takes away the, um, parsablity (:p) of the template. Hmph. riana_dzasta 17:17, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, wait, it's 2:45? Daylight savings time has started, woo hoo! riana_dzasta 17:19, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hoo, boy, 15 hours! That's very impressive :) Sure, go ahead, do your crazy amazing incomprehensible thing. Ugh, one reason I don't want to be an administrator - I'm sure I'll have to learn how the buttons actually work :( But 15 hours, I'm still impressed. My record is around 6, I think. riana_dzasta 17:26, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yeah, sorry. Make it as one of yours, then if you ever need to look at it again for someone else, it'll be right there. riana_dzasta 17:35, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
deindentingYeah, sure, that'll be fine! You can never have enough subpages :) Ummm... I trust your brilliant judgement with the colour scheme :) Nothing too outrageous (got over that with the teal), but yeah, sort of based around what I already have, I guess? riana_dzasta 17:41, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

WikiPlomacy

[edit]

Noticed you're editing, thought you might want to swing by WikiPlomacy, check out the discussions, and also read the war rules and the construction rules I've drawn up. WikiPlomacy was far to abstract before, now we've got guidelines.  :). Hope to see you around (and hurry up with the trial!). DoomsDay349 23:24, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you like a lawyer? DoomsDay349 23:58, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Umm....clarify? DoomsDay349 00:27, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Silly me, I didn't even check your link. Pretty cool, you're a prosecuter. Hope you lock that bugger up! DoomsDay349 20:59, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The court you have actually would probably do for trying whole nations. Are you sure it conforms to the impartiality of the judge that you are both the judge and the prosecutor? Also, what is your opinion of the military constuction rules and war rules I propose? AlethiophileAsk me why 02:30, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fastifex situation

[edit]

Hi! It looks that Fastifex has (already temporarily) stopped to contribute to Wikipedia. I checked his contributions page, he issued some 100 edits a day for every day since at least last September, si his absence for 3 days might be significative. Frankly, I'm relieved that his disruption are out. Of course, I had nothing against the person, but his refuse to conform to common rules was frankly annoying. What I think is that, when he tried to ask help against me with a user and this user in turn asked him exactly the same things I was asking, Fastifex felt overwhelmed and/or disgusted, and took (I hope loooooong) rest. See you soon and thanks for you useful contribution in saving Wikipedia from disruption. Bye and good work. --Attilios 20:48, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed the same things. In fact that user had once left a note of support on Fastifex’s talk page: perhaps the single hug that Fastifex ever received from a Wikipedian. Which is all rather sad. But the fact remains that his edits to existing articles usually made them worse: they became overwhelmed by frankly peripheral and often out-of-date information. (I blew my top when he dumped into Aquileia a huge amount of text which began by asserting that the town is, today, on the Austrian sea-coast. He couldn’t have read a word of it.) Anyway, let us hope that he has found another domain in which to act out his persona of antique pedant with a penchant for corporal punishment. In that case all we will need to do is to get a robot to add the {{confusing}} template to every article he has edited.—Ian Spackman 12:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Coffee Lounge archiving

[edit]

You made a mistake in the page naming of the archive you just created. You put a slash instead of a colon after the word Wikipedia. I moved the page to the right title, but there is still a wrong link to the page with the / name on the Esperanza Coffee lounge page. Academic Challenger 02:29, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hate to tell you this, but according to WP:SIG you cannot have an image, free, fair use, or otherwise, in your sig, no matter how small it is. I advise you to remove it. Sorry to have to spoil the spirit of Halloween, but that's how it works. Good luck in the sig competition (I'll be tweaking mine a bit). See ya!
