Re: Business as usual[edit]

Welcome back. Go for it, I'm definitely in!

As for Colin Ramirez, I saw your email last night but just didn't get round to it. Sorry, but thanks for informing me. --Gibmetal 77talk 12:52, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've noticed Colin Ramirez has been deleted again... How come? --Gibmetal 77talk 01:28, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see, so the link is no longer available. Although am I not right in thinking the article can still be used as a source even if we can't link to it? Just a thought.
I'll help you out on those two articles tonight (when I get home from playing padel) with any copyediting they may need and adding to them where I can. I didn't know that Hérnandez del Portillo was actually born in Gib, I didn't even know his full name until I had to look for it to disambiguate the link in Gibraltar Barbary Macaques yesterday! As for the other article, how about replacing "Second World War" with "World War II" in the title just to be consistent with Military history of Gibraltar during World War II?
Yes, the weather is terrible here (today is probably the exception, as it's sunny and warm). It's pretty much rained almost every day since December(!) and we've had two significant rockfalls. Not as bad in the capital then? --Gibmetal 77talk 12:37, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Arbcom case[edit]

Additionally, the following resources may be of use—

Thanks, EyeSerenetalk 13:33, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. I'll mention it in my statement. EyeSerenetalk 13:51, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bienhallado![edit]

Albricias! (Or any other Spanish word no longer in use) Long time no see :-)

Hi there! Just dropped by to send some good vibes to you. I hope everything is alright! Sooner than you think you'll surprise yourself reading "la Princesa Prometida" to your kid. You'll see. 'Night! Cremallera (talk) 20:15, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again! I've read both your evidence and Justin's. I'd like you to notice that there is a size limit for our statements (1000 words), and it is enforced. Maybe you'd like to read the evidence either Red Hat and myself have provided to avoid repeating what has been said already (Red Hat has sent to the ArbCom evidence concerning Gibnews' COI via email, for instance). Finally, please try to be aseptic. The result is better and, more importantly, shorter. You can add further comments as a response to other's evidence, and these aren't included in the thousand words limit (neither are diffs, although words [within the diffs] are). Cheers! Outing[edit]

Please take this in the spirit it is intended, your evidence on arbcom is likely to lead to an issue with outing yet again. May I suggest you refactor it before a clerk does.

Your message on my talk page was appreciated, dad is out of hospital and my sister is around for a few days to help out. Back for more tests tomorrow :-( Justin the Evil Scotman talk 00:02, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gibnews[edit]

Well, first of all many congratulations on your new child. There is nothing more wonderful than babies and I wish you and your family all the best.

On to Gibnews, and his possible conflict of interest. I'd like to suggest a slightly different idea. That is, that we know all about his conflict of interest from his public edits in main space and in talk space. So far as I can tell by Googling his name, he isn't a public member of any Gibraltarian nationalist group. But my point is, it would not matter if he were. We need to deal - he needs to deal - with the process of becoming a better encyclopedia editor. Finding out who he is would not help at all. We know everything that we need to know from his public record.

Despite past history I hope for Gibnews' help, and Red Hat's, and yours, in improving the articles. But I would like us all to concentrate on that improvement, and not on irrelevancies. Richard Keatinge 11:23, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Absurd rationales[edit]

Hello. Could you please be so kind as to explain what makes my rationale here so "asburd"? Had you raised the issue then (qui tacet consentit), I could have perhaps addressed your concerns. But to find, two years later, that I was "pushing an agenda" amounts to a blatant violation of WP:AGF. I therefore urge you to clarify your allegation or retract it. Thank you, RedCoat10 (talk) 17:05, 20 March 2010 (UTC) PS. I can't say I wasn't surprised when I discovered that I had gone unaccredited on your list of Wikipedians who have contributed (content-wise) to the Gibraltar-space![reply]

Thank you for taking the time to explain your comments and subsequent clarification thereof. The previous version implied that both Gibnews and myself were being accused of POV pushing. As regards the issue of the Gibraltar Constitution Order 2006, I respectfully disagree. But I believe the proper venue to discuss this matter is the article's talk page and it should have been brought up back then in any case! If I understand correctly, you list Gibmetall77 and youself as the only two editors interested in contributing content to the Gibraltar-space. While I may be less active now, I have invested a fair bit of time in creating and expanding Gibraltar-related articles in the past. But I meant this in jest, I don't actually expect you to praise me!
You reference something I wrote about yourself last year. I can't recall the exact context of the discussion but it seems that I was simply providing some background information regarding your involvement vis-à-vis Gibraltar-articles, on en.wiki as well as es.wiki. I don't think I was lying when I said that you had previously been blocked and warned. It is also a well known fact that administrators enjoy a certain clout; this is the 'prerogative' I refer to. Out of observation, if an edit is reverted by an administrator, it usually carries more weight. However, if it caused you any offence, then I apologize. Regards, RedCoat10 (talk) 23:31, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alonso Hernández del Portillo[edit]

Hi Ecemaml. Just to let you know that unfortunately I missed the deadline to nominate this article for DYK as I've been hospitalised for a week. I just came home yesterday, and the doctors tell me I should get as much rest as I can while I await surgery. I therefore predict my edits (if any) will be kept to a minimum for sometime, and might keep to fairly light tasks such as rating the remaining unassessed Gib articles. But anyway, what I'm trying to say is I'm back albeit not as active as usual. If you need anything regarding new articles etc just drop me a message and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can. --Gibmetal 77talk 23:45, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ecemaml. Your evidence on the above page stands at over 1800 words. The limit is 1000. Please refactor it within the next 24 hours or a clerk will do it for you. Regards, Ryan PostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 20:51, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and refactored the evidence to bring it within the 1000 word limit. I've placed the evidence I've removed at User:Ecemaml/Arbitration_evidence and linked to it from the main evidence page. Feel free to edit your evidence section, but don't go above the limit again please. Regards, Ryan PostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 22:39, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Great, great, great!!!![edit]

Brilliant find, well done! I've seen some of those postcards before, mainly on eBay but was unsure if they could be uploaded as I didn't know their dates. I think I may still have some more photos to scan and upload from Finlayson's book regarding the evacuation.

I think this article is a good idea. I've added some more and changed the table code which should make it easier to add to. I hope that's OK. I may also have some furhter suggestions for the article but I'll get back to you once I've gotten some sleep... Regards, --Gibmetal 77talk 00:49, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I don't seem to have received your email.

I have a reference for the street names which I'll add now. Yes, I know Falconaumanni. I should be able to find out the corresponding English names of the map's features after a bit of research. --Gibmetal 77talk 22:12, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
