Message relay

A blocked user has posted a {{helpme}} request that specifically invites you to respond. This is your decision entirely as I am merely relaying the message. Thanks and kind regards. My76Strat 15:38, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, the request is located here: [1] My76Strat 15:39, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

abusive user

An abusive[2] user User:Rick jens is continuously vandalizing an article on Popular_Front_of_India. I have put a detailed explaination of why I edited some content here[3], http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Popular_Front_of_India#Lot_of_POVs_in_first_paragraph. But he is not ready to come and discuss the matter. Now he is putting a point that, he want to retain your edits. Could you please help on this conflict. -- Indiashines (talk) 18:12, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi!

FYI, I reverted this edit of yours from yesterday. You rollbacked someone's spelling correction and restored a spelling mistake. I'm sure it was an honest mistake but I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Thanks! Big Bird (talkcontribs) 19:26, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

It was not a mistake, you cannot refactor other users' comments. Gobbleswoggler got blocked minutes later for correcting spelling mistakes on user and talk pages. Eagles 24/7 (C) 19:30, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
When it comes to spelling mistakes, WP:TPO states that "there is no need to correct typing/spelling errors, grammar, etc" (my emphasis). True, refactoring is not allowed but "refactoring" usually refers to changing the meaning in some way, shape or form, not correcting spelling mistakes. Also, TPO allows for changes to others' comments "If you have their permission." True, again, Gobbleswoggler didn't request MichaelQSchmidt's permission to fix the spelling mistake but I can't foresee a scenario where MQS wouldn't allow his spelling mistake to be fixed had he been asked for that permission. This version of the article looks better than this one. I think WP:IAR should comfortably apply in this case.
Anyways, I didn't mean to give you a hard time and I actually didn't notice that Gobbleswoggler was blocked until you told me. So yeah, he shouldn't have been doing that in the first place but I saw no harm in that particular spelling correction.
Thanks for the reply!
Peace! Big Bird (talkcontribs) 20:11, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Alright, thanks for clarifying. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:24, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Roger Gurley

Hi Eagles. What makes you think Roger Gurley is a hoax? ϢereSpielChequers 11:06, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

I couldn't find any references, but I guess since you found one, it isn't a hoax. Eagles 24/7 (C) 17:21, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

While understanding this edit...

Wasn't the RFA to go until August 13, or until a withdrawal by the candidate? I note that as of close, only 18 persons had commented. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:26, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

In a case of WP:NOTNOW, any user (in good standing within the community) may close the RfA early if it appears a pile-on may occur. User:Courcelles closed the RfA before User:Avenged Eightfold !voted. The instructions at the top of the page after the close said, "The following discussion is preserved as an archive of a request for adminship that did not succeed. Please do not modify it." Eagles 24/7 (C) 04:35, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. From looking at the timeline,[4] Avenged Eightfold must have been forming his response at the same time Courcelles was preparing his close. The RFA might have been open as AE began, but was closed nano-seconds before AE hit "Save page". No harm, no foul. Best regards, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:23, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Sports Club Notability

Just out if interest, are there any guidelines that can help me ascertain the notablity of sports clubs? I can only seem to find guidelines on members of sports clubs, not the clubs themselves, and I thought as you were a prolific American Football editor, you might be able to help. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 13:18, 8 August 2010 (UT. --

Greensborough Football Club was the article that got me thinking about it. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 18:22, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Oakland Raiders

I gave a more detailed response on Pats1's talk page. I'm not trying to have an edit war either. Zoro1234 (talk) 15:13, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Info box switchover

I'm trying help switch some pages from active to retired i.e. For some reason it keeps saying no regular season or post season appearances, can you help me with what i'm doing wrong? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zoro1234 (talkcontribs) 21:35, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Well don't. We are trying to switch all infoboxes from NFLretired to NFL player (the same as NFLactive) so we can finally get rid of NFLretired and have one template. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:37, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I meant from retired to active. Not trying to ruffle your feathers though it may seem that way. So should I copy the template and do it from scratch or is there a way I can leave it and just add what is missing?Zoro 1234 21:40, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Actually, you worded what you said incorrectly. You have to change more than the name of the infobox in order for the switch to occur properly. Please compare the two infoboxes to see how to make changes, I don't have time right now to teach you. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:42, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I would advise you to start over from scratch in order to get a good grasp on what needs to be changed. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:43, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Alright, no worries. Thanks anyway. Gald to see DeSean Jackson wasn't hurt seriously.Zoro 1234 21:45, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Player headshots from NFL.com

they say public in the url i.e. Do you know if these are upload safe?Zoro 1234 21:18, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Nope, they are fully copyrighted images. The url name means nothing. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:44, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Joel Gamble

Eagles 24 /7 this is joel Gamble I edited my page I like it better this way it's cleaner just leave it be. Thx. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.22.4.144 (talk) 21:23, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Oh, not again...

Thanks for alerting me. Why is it that people like this always have dynamic IPs? On my way. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 00:44, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

  • Yup...I was. At least this guy wasn't sockpuppeting, but boy, was he living in a fantasy world. Here's hoping he doesn't do the sockpuppet thing, but if he does, I can protect the titles. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:21, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
  • LOL! No, Bambifan never created any original hoaxes that I can recall. I'd nominate him for adminship before I go through again what I just did with a real looney tune who was stalking me across multiple wikis for about a week. I love the interwebs.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:36, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
    • I'm betting not. That "911 Dispatching" thing of his was just rambling nonsense. Not even good stream-of-consciousness. It was disjointed, bizarre weirdness. I like a good dose of weirdness now and then, but I prefer mine coming from a lucid mind. PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:48, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
  • As my Jewish friends would say: Oy vey. Somehow, I don't think he's malicious, but hoowee brother, is he clueless. Poor fellow is obviously a fan of the site, but has no idea about how it works. I mean, he gave himself Barnstars. That's a first. Tell you what: If you think he's trying to circumvent the block, you just let me know. Heading for home, but the computer at home coughed up its hard drive this morning. I now have to dig through my storage unit tomorrow to try and find the system backup CDs in an effort to defibrillate the thing back to life. Talk to ya tomorrow; feel free to leave word on my talk page if anything happens. Try not to have too much fun.  :) PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:06, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

your incorrect claim

You did NOT close Jahaal Chakravarti's rfa, I did. With that information i'm a bit puzzled as to why you said in the Unsuccessful rfa's section that YOU closed his rfa as WP:NOTNOW. Inka 888 05:01, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi there Eagles247, you recently tagged Anton Cosmo (musician) for speedy deletion under G7. However, the article was created by Tmaguitar (talk · contribs) and blanked by AndrewStern (talk · contribs). Please be a bit more careful with tagging pages for G7 by checking the article's history beforehand. Thank you. — ξxplicit 05:00, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Ah, did not see that. I must have mixed that article up with the other two versions User:AntonCosmo created. Thanks, Eagles 24/7 (C) 05:07, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Notice

Something

I read someone's talk page. He was blocked from wikipedia for abusing multiple accounts. I read your talk post saying: "Stop playing the dumb card." To me, when I saw you say that, I laughed a little bit. Honorboy123 (talk) 16:14, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the page move.

This page, which you moved, details my very first sockpuppeting report. I realized that I put it in the article space at first, shortly before you went to move it. Thanks for interfering there and helping out. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 20:52, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

No problem. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:32, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

What you said on my talk page

Done. I personally don't think it's a big deal, but better safe than sorry, right? RevanFan (talk) 18:02, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Yup. Eagles 24/7 (C) 18:06, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. Wiki isn't like some of the small forums I'm on. Who knows how many twisted lunatics may use this site? RevanFan (talk) 18:07, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Exactly. That's why an admin had to change his username from his real name to a city in France. Eagles 24/7 (C) 18:13, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
