Orphaned fair use image (Image:Kimveer Gill.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Kimveer Gill.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Fair use rationale for Image:Molotov-dadd.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Molotov-dadd.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 03:02, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for the compliment. I'm very pleased that you like the sport icons, and as I said, feel free to use them since they're exactly that — free! Mexican Flag
[edit]Hello,
I believe you added this to the Flag of Mexico article on April 12th: -- please, don't tell me it's not obvious the fact that people can confuse them --
I was the one who added that citation tag on the article with a note in the talk page as follows: The section about common mistakes of construction said that the Italian flag with an aspect of 2:3 is more rectangular than the Mexican flag (aspect of 4:7). This seems wrong in two ways. First, both flags actually are rectangles in an absolute sense. Second, by rectangular the contributor probably meant more elongated and less squarish, but actually that applies to the Mexican flag not the Italian...so I have changed the wording.
Anyway, the section as a whole seems a little odd in that it considers the Mexican flag to be regularly constructed from the Italian flag as a base. There are obvious similarities between the two flags, but I think there should be some reference(s) to when/where people are actually making Mexican flags out of Italian flags.
My point is not that people might be confused (apart from the emblem on the Mexican flag), but that we are claiming that people take Italian flags and convert them into Mexican flags. I accept that people would probably place the Mexican coat of arms on any green/white/red tricolor and not be aware of the subtleties of the colors and aspect ratio, but I have trouble accepting that people regularly take genuine Italian flags and put Mexican coats of arms on them. I encourage you to add a reference if you know this specific technique of flag-making is prevalent because I can't find one. Dwr12 (talk) 22:39, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of 1835 in Mexico
[edit]A tag has been placed on 1835 in Mexico requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Tohd8BohaithuGh1 (talk) 10:42, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Chihuahua state capital
Saludos! --Battroid (talk) 17:52, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Mexico national team
[edit]I was actually going to do something similar, the articles you created are good but there is some things that should be change, I will make some changes and I hope you will agree. I am going to remove all the information in Mexico national football team schedule and results and direct the users to the articles you created. GoPurple'nGold24 20:48, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
- A couple of weeks ago I was going to add the players but it was taking to long, and it's hard to find the number the players used, especially the subs. We can add the teams the players are representing, for example: 2010_FIFA_World_Cup_squads#Player_statistics. We can remove the competitions name in the match information and just add a header like in this article: 2010_Kansas_City_Wizards_season#Match_results. I will edit the 2008 article and see if you agree. GoPurple'nGold24 20:44, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
- Another thing, do you have an idea what we can add in the Mexico national football team schedule and results article to direct the users to the new articles? GoPurple'nGold24 21:03, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Hola

[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:39, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Medals by Sport
[edit]The medals by sport section should be sorted by Olympic standards of sorting such as Canada at the Olympics#Medals by sport or Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics#Medalists. The sorting through medal tables goes by gold, silver, and bronze. I have posted a similar message on the talk page at Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympics, consensus there should be met before reverting. Krazytea(talk) 03:15, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
- As far as updating I would say that we could wait but generally with events such as these people will always be editing them no matter what the consensus. We can edit the ranking but it is probably best to wait till the end of the day in London. The best we can do is try to keep it current and accurate till the end is my guess.
