Adoption

[edit]

Hello, EMH88. I see you're looking to be adopted. I would be happy to adopt you. I've been on Wikipedia for about seven months, and have made more than three thousand edits. In addition to my edits to articles (which I try to keep as the majority of my edits), I've also been involved in a variety of different Wikipedia administrative processes (including WP:WQA, WP:BLPN, WP:AFD, WP:PROD, and WP:RFC). I have a prtty solid grasp of Wikipedia policy, and know where to look if there's ever something I don't know. On the downside, I'm not really very good at using Wikimarkup to make pages look pretty, so if that's a major focus you may want to look elsewhere. In any event, if you're interested in being adopted by me, just drop me a line on my talk page. Sarcasticidealist 00:21, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Emily - glad to hear you've accepted my adoption offer and yes, "Steve" will do nicely (as will "Sarcasticidealist", should you prefer it). Now that we've established this relationship, perhaps you could tell me a little about what brought you to Wikipedia and what you hope to accomplish here. You say you're interested in Wales and British music, but perhaps you could be more specific - are you looking to make improvements to the Wales article, or are you looking to create articles on Welsh communities that don't currently have them? Are you more interested in Welsh government since the devolution, or in prehistoric Welsh history? Likewise, does your affection for British music manifest itself more as a love for The Beatles and The Who, or for Oasis? Or, for that matter, for bands that I've never heard of? You certainly don't need to answer all of these questions - I'm just looking for a feel for what articles you're likely to want to edit. If there's one article in particular that you're interested in starting with, that might also be helpful.
As for your userpage, I did warn you that aesthetics are not my strong suit, but I'd be pleased to help you in any way that I can. Are there any users whose pages strike you as being along the same lines as what you'd like to create? Sarcasticidealist 21:09, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't been on Wikipedia much this weekend, but I've had a look at your recent edits, and you seem to be doing quite well (even doing some vandalism reversion), but I thought I'd still check if there was anything you needed my help with. You need always only ask. Sarcasticidealist 07:38, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting semi-protection

[edit]

You'll want to go to WP:RFPP. Do you want help with the process itself? There is the possibility that your request will be denied, depending on which admin reviews it - it certainly isn't an extreme case. But it might be worth a shot. Sarcasticidealist 19:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 15:11, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Emily - just wanted to ask you to have a look at the edits you've made to this page, because in a few cases they're not really very clear. Also, as long as you are my adoptee, do not ever pluralize something with an apostrophe (I've already made that fix) (a smiley emoticon would go hear if I wasn't philisophically opposed to emoticon usage). Other than those issues, good work. Also, how do you find SuggestBot's suggestions? I've never signed up to use it, but I've been curious a couple of times. Adoption

[edit]

Hi Emily - I see you haven't been on Wikipedia for a while. With that in mind, I'm going to remove the adoption banner from your site (and the corresponding one from mine). I'll be more than happy to resume the relationship should you return, but for now the banner is just sort of cluttering up my page without meaning anything. I hope all is well, and please do contact me if you return! Sarcasticidealist (talk) 07:28, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
