Hi! First off, thank you for spending your valuable time trying to help Wikipedia by writing an article. Unfortunately, your article fails some criteria that Wikipedia has set for its articles. For example, Wikipedia has a policy of no original research. Your article is an essay (a very good one, at that!), not an encyclopedia article. For example, your entry might be seen in an issue of Entertainment Weekly, but would you expect it to be seen in an encyclopedia in your school or town library? Please go here for the AfD on your article. Also, as your article might be deleted from Wikipedia, please copy it to your hard-drive, as I'd hate to see all your hard work go to waste. If you ever have any more questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me! Cheers! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 19:53, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- I suggest taking a look at this introduction to editing and this tutorial to editing, which can give you both general and specific tips, guidelines, and suggestions for editing and creating articles. In terms of your article, it has phrases such as "some people criticised" and "some think may happen." The reader needs to know who exactly "some" is, and this can be acheived by placing a verifiable source (see WP:CITE for a more detailed description) into the article where the comment is or at the end of the article as a footnote. Your writing can definitely be relevant if you wish to add text into the character's respective articles and mention the relationship. Also, you can mention the relationship as a key plotline in the Scrubs article. In doing this, just make sure to cite your sources whenever possible. Again, thanks a lot for spending time to help make Wikipedia better and I believe I can speak for the entire community in saying that we hope you stick around! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 20:33, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
'J.D./Elliot Relationship' on Scrubs (TV series)
[edit]Hi! Thanks so much for your contribution to the Scrubs (TV series) article. It looks like there's a lot of great information included in this, but I think it might benefit from a little editing. I was looking at the AfD discussion for the original J.D.-Elliot Relationship in Scrubs article, and I noticed that some people recommended a few changes be implemented before moving the article into the general Scrubs article. I think these changes were a good idea. A couple suggestions:
- Wikipedia:No original research: Reference anything and everything you possibly can. If you say "Some TV critics and Scrubs viewers critised the JD-Elliot plotline in seasons 1, 2 and 3," you need to provide some citation of specific TV critics and Scrubs viewers. (Otherwise it sounds like you're making it up, or it's just your opinion, which would violate Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.) Similarly, if you're going to have any direct quotes, those need to be cited as well. Also, generally read through the whole article and see if there's anything that seems like many people would disagree with, or seems like an idea that you've thought of yourself. If there is, scrap it.
- Length: The Scrubs article is already longer than it ideally should be, and so any new section needs to be as lean and to-the-point as possible. Cleaning up the original research should help with this. Also, I would suggest paring down the plot descriptions as much as possible. For example,
- In My Best Friend's Mistake, there is romantic moment between them, but JD is unsure whether to take it and they miss the opportunity. JD then has 48 hours to kiss her before he ends up in 'the friend zone.' But despite both their efforts, he doesn't reach her in time.
- could be cut down to something like
- In My Best Friend's Mistake, a brief romantic moment between JD and Elliot leads nowhere, and JD concludes that his relationship with her is stuck in 'the friend zone.'
- The episode pages have fuller plot descriptions and include details like the 48 hour deadline, which are interesting, but not ultimately important to the JD-Elliot story arc. Because of this, a link to the episode page takes the place of a long description. This is not to say you should cut out any important details. You've done an amazing job of finding all of the episodes that are important for the JD-Elliot arc, and be sure to include links to all of these episodes, along with a description of the essential change that occurs in that episode.
Anyway, as I said earlier, it looks like the information you've added is basically really good. It just needs a bit of work. And if you want any help, just give me a shout on my talk page. Good luck! Can't wait to see how it turns out! --Gpollock 20:25, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Question about scrubs episode summary
[edit]Hi, there. I have been recently deleting copyvio I found on episode summaries of articles about Scrubs (TV series), most of which have content from www.scrubs-tv.com or www.tv.com, and I came across My Choosiest Choice of All, an article you created. Could you please clarify that you created the episode your summary yourself, or if not, what the source is so I can check if it's copyrighted? Thanks. Cowman109Talk 18:55, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Zekistan
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Zekistan, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Zekistan. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 16:47, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
