- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}
Mango edit
[edit]Hello. On my talk page, you said: Hello there! I noticed that my edit on the Mango page was undone. I respect your authority and experience earned through Wikipedia, but could you please give me a reason for deleting my edit? I put it there because besides me, many people like the drink called falooda, and its historical purpose was to replace other desserts eaten by commoners and nobility in India to beat the extreme heat, and this drink has been consumed since atleast four-hundred years. I can't, in any way, possibly give an RS for my edit, but other food and beverages listed in the same don't have a reliable source either. And yes, such drinks are and have been used to combat the sultry weather, sometimes being responsible for saving lives during desperate times. If you could inform me why you removed my edit, I would be thankful and could try to get a better source next time. Cheers!
The Foodtrails link you provided is not a reliable source, but rather is just a non-expert blog. Perhaps you can find one written in a culinary book or news article. There is mention of mango being used in the falooda article, but the statement is unsourced. I believe this is an issue falling within the definition of minor content, WP:UNDUE. Good luck in your editing! Zefr (talk) 17:47, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
Thank you! I had searched specifically for mango being used in faloodas, but may have not noticed that it wasn't there in the article. I will try to find a better source for this, so would it be ok if I sourced it from an authentic chef?
Also, I admire the fact that you could get so far in medicine, having a PhD in physiology. I personally respect doctors and all medicine practitioners as I aspire to be one myself. I hope your work is going smoothly in medicine, and Wikipedia as well ^_^ E3C4B1 (talk) 18:00, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
