Replaceable fair use Image:Malia_jones.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Malia_jones.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 13:51, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hola

[edit]

Long time no see! Just swinging by to see what's up, as well as see if you are anymore interested in the possibility of becoming an admin. A bunch of the work you do around here could call for the use of the extra tools. It is (of course) up to you, but if you like, I'd be more than happy to coach you a bit beforehand. Let me know! :) Jmlk17 08:06, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Odd Error I got

[edit]

You gave me this comment: Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Winston Churchill High School, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --Ðysepsion † Speak your mind 06:05, 19 December 2007

I live less than 1 mile from the school in question. The correct name is Sir Winston Churchill High School (Lauren Hill Academy). As you have reverted it back, you have set it back to being incorrect. this information could be VERY easily confirmed by a simple google search. When the truth is no longer considered "constructive" I really have to wonder what is going on.

Question

[edit]

You're a very effective vandal-fighter, and know the difference between a good-faith edit and vandalism. Would you like rollback in order to help you revert vandalism more quickly? Acalamari 22:39, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted. See Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature for more information. Good luck. Acalamari 17:06, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Chi omega badge.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chi omega badge.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:08, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Dyspsion, my edits are legitimate. The members of the band switchfoot went to San Dieguito Academy, not Torrey Pines. Meanwhile, both Henry Tung and Michael Wen are as legitimate as Scooter Belasco, just because he plays sports at Division I... there are plenty more people that have done that. Thus, I say that my edits should stay, as both Wen and Tung did historic things at TPHS and at their respective colleges. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.195.221.35 (talk) 23:09, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Thank you for starting that article. I added sources and explanations for all entries. It looks like you kept editing it even though I marked it in use though which may have resulted in the loss of information between my edit and yours. Please take a look at the article to make sure nothing you added is lost and please, in the future, do not edit articles marked as in use - that makes it easier to make sure we don't run into edit conflicts like this. Thanks! --Ubardak (talk) 07:51, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bernard de Linton

[edit]

Hi. This is not the same guy as the Kilwinning guy. Identification as such was made in 1726 and has since been disproved. Of Bernard de Linton nothing more can be said that he was parson of Mordington and recorded in the 1296 Ragman rolls. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 08:21, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kilwinning guy is the same as the Arbroath guy (certainly). Pretty much all you thought you knew about Bernard de Linton is about Bernard of Arbroath/Kilwinning. I think de Linton just the name on the Ragman rolls. I'll try and sort it for you later on. Regards, Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 11:55, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
K, sorted it. Redid the Bernard de Linton article and produced the article that you actually wanted to produce, at Bernard of Kilwinning. All the best, Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 12:47, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To the first Part, that's fine I can accept that.

To the second, I am sorry if that hurts your feelings because it was a photo taken by you, but it does not change the fact it is a very poor photo and would not be acceptable in most encyclopedia brands. That is why even amateur photos are retouched in photo editing programs to make the quality better or if a photo is still a bad shot regardless of retouching it is not used. I sincerely don't think it's a bad thing to discourage use of material if the material is not up to par, regardless of a precedent it would set for future users. Your photo was a little blurry and was shot in a bad manor. Even professional photographers have throwaway photos so it's not an insult persey. You chose to put a photo up that was not the best possible one to be used and still insist on keeping it up only because it was taken by you, in spite of how it adds to the overall quality of the article. As far as the article it would be better to have no photo of a living person at all then have one that does more bad then good. I'm glad you got to meet her and the photos you took should be a good material form of memory for you but as far as it being suitable for a encyclopedia resource the quality in photo is lacking. Question is, is your pride in your photowork more important then making the article as best as it can be for other wikipedia users. 76.170.233.182 (talk) 19:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
