From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article The stick has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 17:20, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Stick, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.stick.com/history/stick/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 14:23, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to The Stick. For legal reasons, we will delete copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites (http://www.stick.com/history/stick/ in this case) or from printed material.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article's talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:The Stick with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article's talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:The Stick with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own original words to avoid any copyright infringement. Thank you. Mperry 15:48, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cinema band

[edit]

The article Cinema band has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:27, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A TreeFull of Secrets

[edit]

I see you recently created A treeful of secrets. This article has been on Wikipedia before and it has been deleted. Just to warn you - your newly created article may be up for deletion soon (criteria for speedy deletion). I personally believe its an article worth keeping - others on Wikipedia dont. Please stop adding the release date to MGS4. The source you provided is unreliable. The only release date that should be posted is the one that is announced by Konami. Until then, everything else is speculation.

Why is it that you can't be bothered to explain your edits nor discuss on the talk page? You keep reverting my edits without so much as a word of explanation?? --Shubopshadangalang (talk) 14:16, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Gaffer's Row

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gaffer's Row, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Roleplayer (talk) 03:32, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Gaffer's Row

[edit]

I have nominated Gaffer's Row, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gaffer's Row. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. May 2008

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Gaffers' Row. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Roleplayer (talk) 20:54, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue removing Articles for deletion notices or comments from articles and Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Gaffers' Row, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Roleplayer (talk) 08:48, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you remove Articles for deletion notices or comments from articles and Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Gaffers' Row, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -- Roleplayer (talk) 17:27, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Gaffer.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gaffer.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:32, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of A Treeful of Secrets

[edit]

A tag has been placed on A Treeful of Secrets requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. • Gene93k (talk) 13:54, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fat Old Sun

[edit]

Last month you changed the personnel credits on Fat Old Sun (Pink Floyd song) with no citation for the change. Your change has been removed, then put back (the latter by myself), but nobody seems to be able to quote a source for their change. Please see the discussion on the talk page, but what's really needed is the citation. I have threatened to remove the personnel section entirely if nobody is willing to say where they get their info. --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 02:01, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Davidgilmourtele.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Davidgilmourtele.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Vicreeves2009.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Vicreeves2009.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rodhullandemu 10:40, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Unionlive.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Unionlive.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:05, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with upload of File:Vicbob09.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Vicbob09.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Replaceable fair use File:Vicbob09.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Vicbob09.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rodhullandemu 15:54, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate images to Wikipedia, as you did to Vic Reeves. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. I advise you to read WP:NFCC, criterion 1. We cannot use copyrighted images when we already have a free one. Rodhullandemu 16:01, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Vicbob09.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi Dyolf,

I've added some references to Sense (programming). Spelling changes in titles of color articles

[edit]

In a recent edit to the page List of colors: A-M, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. The talk page of the article notes that it is written in American English and that this variety should be maintained unless there is broad consensus. If such consensus has been reached somewhere, please advise. Otherwise, please revert the title changes you've made to this and the other color-related articles. Thank you. --Arxiloxos (talk) 18:27, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Recreating articles deleted at AfD

[edit]

Please do not re-create articles previously deleted at AfD unless you can show where the subject has received enough coverage to where it would easily overturn the previous AfD - even then it's highly suggested that you go through the following process: first contact the deleting admin and if they decline to restore it or endorse a recreation, you go through WP:DRV. I noticed that you created the article for Gaffers' Row in 2008 and it was deleted very shortly after its creation. You tried to quietly recreate this in 2011 and it went unnoticed for the most part until recently when it was brought back to AfD. License tagging for File:Tolkien kullervo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tolkien kullervo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Non-free rationale for File:Kula shaker k2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kula shaker k2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 00:36, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
