If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dylan Jakobsen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. —teb728 t c 08:21, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Dylan Jakobsen. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. —teb728 t c 08:21, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

On your article

[edit]

Hello, my name is Deadbeef. I'm here to let you know a bit about the article you are trying to create. The reason that it is currently up for deletion is speedy deletion criterion A7, which basically states that your article "does not indicate why its subject is important or significant". When you created a page with basically no information, technically it fell into this category, prompting an editor to point it out and tag it for deletion. Usually, what I would tell someone in your position is that you should draft the article in your userspace first before attempting to bring it into mainspace with the rest of Wikipedia's articles. However, it is clear by the username you have chosen that you have a strong conflict of interest in regards to the subject of the article you intended to create; i.e. you either are Dylan Jakobsen himself, one of his friends/family members, or a member of his production. This means that the rules for you are different. While there is no Wikipedia law stating that you cannot write the article about the subject, it would be almost impossible for you to do so neutrally, and thus it will usually get deleted.

Therefore, my suggestion to you is that you pay a visit to Articles for Creation. There, you can make a draft of your article with no one threatening to delete it, and then submit it for creation when you feel it's done. Someone there will take a look at the article to make sure it passes Wikipedia's standards of quality and is written about neutrally, and accept it if everything looks good. By doing this, you will demonstrate a desire to make a good, neutral article about the subject (which is good), and make sure that the article that comes out is well-written and safe from deletion (which is better).

Please take a minute to read over Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines, then head on over to AfC. Thanks, Deadbeef 08:51, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
