[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Opium Wars, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Talkpages
[edit]Hello! About your edit here: [1] One of WP:s many many (many) rules is that while it's ok to remove a comment of yours from an article talkpage that noone has replied to, it's not ok to remove that comment if someone has replied, and really not ok to remove/change other editors comments (there are exeptions). So please don't do that. More at WP:REDACT and WP:TPO. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:06, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Dylancatlow1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Christopher Langan, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 16:38, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I do have some affiliation with Chris Langan. Would you agree to make the relevant changes instead? I don't see how what I was requesting there is at all unreasonable. You can see for yourself how what is claimed in the Wikipedia article doesn't entirely correspond with reality...that many people would see it differently than the author of the source. Dylancatlow1 (talk) 17:06, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for disclosing; I've noted it at the page. As for your changes, no, I don't think they are warranted (as I mentioned on the talk page). GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 20:18, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Talk: The killing of Jordan Neely
[edit]At last count, you have made 20 edits over the past three days to the talk page, while other editors are weighing in on whether or not the page should be renamed. I would STRONGLY suggest you read WP:BLUDGEON as you are dangerously close to being in violation IMO, if you haven't already gone over the line. A word to the wise. Aloha27 talk 18:29, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, I honestly had never heard of that before. I assumed that one would be allowed to debate the point. Dylancatlow1 (talk) 18:53, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
