Speedy deletion of "Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana"

[edit]

A page you created, Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how it is important or significant, and thus why it should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for companies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 19:43, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did not delete the article, I just tagged it for deletion. It was deleted by an admin, User:Sandstein, who may, if you ask nicely, undelete the page to a user subpage for you. However please read WP:YFA, WP:CORP and WP:RS for relevant policies and guidelines. – ukexpat (talk) 20:59, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WAMM Page Move

[edit]

Please do not move radio station pages unless it is to the correct call sign. The radio station WAMM must be placed on WAMM and not WAMM AM, as there is no -AM or AM call sign on AM broadcast stations. Your move has been reverted. - NeutralHomerTalk • December 18, 2008 @ 20:03

The best way disambiguate this page so that readers can find Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana (assuming it is re-created appropriately), is to add an appropriate hatnote to WAMM, probably {{otheruses4}}. – ukexpat (talk) 21:42, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If other groups come along and want to use the WAMM abbreviation, we can always create WAMM (disambiguation). This it the normal way of doing things and stays with Wikipedia's Manual of Style. - NeutralHomerTalk • December 19, 2008 @ 01:35

Welcome!

[edit]

Welcome. I'll assume your username comes from the wonderful and interesting book, Dying to Get High. I enjoy that book. I was wondering if I could simply offer a suggestion. I see you are making edits to wikipedia, and I have seen several of your attempts since I read similar topics. Any time you post new information here, it needs to be cited with a particular reference. If you are using an online source, which needs to be a reliable, third-party source, I'd recommend citing it using the "cite web" format. Information can be found here. I hope this helps! Please continue editing responsibly. I'd love to see a well-written article with lots of great information about the Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana. Feel free to use the book for information. Take care! Whataworld06 (talk) 21:26, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do not take offense. It is a GOOD thing that wikipedia and its users have such high standards. I encourage you to rewrite the article for WAMM. However, in doing so, take your time and be sure to include different sources (online newspaper articles, perhaps from LA Times, NY Times, local newspapers in California, etc.). I would organize the article into sections, perhaps including information about how the program was started, its mission, how it was the first of its kind and was used by future organizations as a model, its run-ins with the law, and its eventual struggle to survive. Of course, within this article, you can discuss the Corrals, WAMM members and their contributions, their protests, etc. It is fascinating material, you just need to present it the right way. Once you get something going, feel free to let me know and I'll see if I have time to contribute some information as well (I am working on other articles at the moment, but I'd love to see one for WAMM! Don't give up--it just takes a while to learn your way around here and what is asked of users. Thanks again! Whataworld06 (talk) 21:41, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It looks to me like their may have been some confusion about WAMM being an AM radio station, and perhaps something was merged when it wasn't supposed to be. I'm not too sure, though I would certainly title your article "Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana", not WAMM (I am not sure that is where the confusion lies, since the article that was deleted appeared to have the name I just suggested). Honestly, I'm not sure. But I'd be happy to keep an eye on the article for you, if you choose to try again. Also, it is always a good idea to view similar article, to mimic formatting, linking, organization, etc. Best of luck! Whataworld06 (talk) 21:53, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One more suggestion: To get people familiar with the subject to assist you, I would recommend adding the WAMM article to as many categories as possible. These could include cannabis reform, other cannabis-related categories, non-profits, organizations in California, etc. This will increase traffic to your article so they can assist you. Also, don't hesitate to message people you notice are familiar with cannabis-related topics. Just like I wrote on your Talk Page, many users communicate this way and are willing to help whenever possible. Hope that helps, and feel free to let me know if you have any other questions about categories or otherwise. Whataworld06 (talk) 22:01, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there! I haven't forgotten about you, and I hope to possibly start a new WAMM article in the near future, using Dying to Get High and newspaper sources as references. Also, I will try to use some material from your old version for ideas about organization, etc. Whataworld06 (talk) 06:49, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:Dyingtogethigh/Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of User:Dyingtogethigh/Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana and leave a note on [[Talk:User:Dyingtogethigh/Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Calton | Talk 15:37, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RfC: Should a separate article on the dried flowers and leaves variant of the Cannabis plant be made?

[edit]

Talk:Cannabis (drug)#RFC: Should the section about the dried whole-flower-and-leaf preparation have its own article? If you have the time, would you please analyse my request, as you interested in our Cannabis project. Do you think there should be a separate section for this topic? მაLiphradicusEpicusთე 21:47, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
