Equipment explained in prose

[edit]

I've mentioned weapon names in the Gameplay section that I wrote for IGI2, is it permissible like the way it is, or would I have to strip out the gun/tool names? Tomjenkins52 (talk) 10:35, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mentioning weapon names

[edit]

Is it alright if I write prose which includes weapon names to illustrate important issues? Like:

"Silenced weapons like the G17-SD, SMG-2, PSG-1SD were particularly highlighted in this version because the focus was on stealth, and undetected strikes, as the name Covert Strike suggests.

Tomjenkins52 (talk) 03:40, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you can link those guns to their respective articles, then that should be acceptable, so yes. DurinsBane87 (talk) 20:51, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Transfer of Weapon lists to Wikia Gaming

[edit]

The sections Thief: Deadly Shadows#3 Weapons and Support Items and Thief: Deadly Shadows#4 Garrett's Passive Abilities are essentially weapon lists. I suggest that I move the weapons to their relevant pages here and the abilities here, at the underdeveloped Thief Gaming Wikia. Is this alright, do I have your support on this?

Tomjenkins52 (talk) 03:40, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely. That page also needs to deal with the enemy list, which is unallowed on similar principles. I want to add that I appreciate your cooperation. DurinsBane87 (talk) 20:54, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your support DurinsBane87, my pleasure to contribute. I'm sure Garrett will be smiling in his grave :) And, I'm copying over this conversation to the Thief Talk page, you know, fanboys will have issues.

RE:Talk Pages

[edit]

(My initial comment added for clarity)

Talk pages aren't for talking ABOUT the subject of the article. They're used to dicuss how to make the articles better. Just letting you know, as you seemed unaware. DurinsBane87 01:15, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you for clearing that up for me. You may not remember, but you told me how wiki was supposed to be used. THANKS!!!

How was it forum talk!?!

[edit]

Read title, you know about SSBB Claycrow 18:36, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very easy. Any talking that does not go toward improving the article is unneeded and un allowed on the talk page. Discussing if certain 3rd party characters wont be in the game is speculation because there was no indication they WOULD be in the game. The forumness takes place when people start talking about the characters they want to be in it. DurinsBane87 18:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sukecchi told me.Green Kirby 02:23, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Funny, the second bulletin says "Extensive discussion not related to Wikipedia." Advice on video games is NOT related to wikipedia. And that looks like an annonymous I.P., not Succechi. He also agrees with me about this NOT being for chatting. DurinsBane87 06:14, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Also, the fourth bulletin says "Extensive personal opinions on matters unrelated to Wikipedia, wiki philosophy, collaboration, free content, the Creative Commons, etc." DurinsBane87 06:15, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Also, my editor review is for experienced editors to review me. your comments would have been seen in my talk page. You are not an experienced editor. If you want to edit constructivly, I'd suggest you try to be less vindictive. DurinsBane87 06:22, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

I am trying to review you, and because you seem to have taken a simple question out of context, it helps for my review. I wasn't speaking of you know who, It was a general question to gage how you deal with new editors, also I dont see how a rndom question about Durin and your relationship is any less justified then mine. Apology

[edit]

I'm sorry if I have caused you any trouble. I was'nt intending to rub anything in your face, I just wanted to point out that I thought at the time that you were wrong. I've caused a lot of people frustration lately, so right now I'm not saying anything on talk pages. Sukecchi usualy knows what he's doing, so I thought he was right. Mabey Wikipedia just is'nt the place for me, becuse so far, I have'nt been any help. I mean, name one time I have been useful. None. I'm not trying to be a troll, but I think I'm becoming one anyway. Again I'm sorry if I have caused any trouble and I just wanted to let you know that I did'nt mean it. Green Kirby 02:02, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Wii Zapper to Game Blaster

[edit]

(Added my half of this conversation and reformatted)

I was looking all over Nintendo.com and couldn't find what you were talking about. Could you provide a link? DurinsBane87 (talk) 12:19, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

i cant find it but when i do you'll be the 1st to get it.--DarkFierceDeityLink 18:11, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
here are some links
--DarkFierceDeityLink 21:47, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That isn't the Wii Zapper, it's a peripheral made by a third party company. It's been out for awhile I think. Ones very similar have, at least. DurinsBane87 (talk) 03:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Hey can you please tell me the difference between the wii zapper the wii blaster and Link's cross bow training.--DarkFierceDeityLink 18:07, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Wii Zapper is a device that Nintendo developed, and it's packaged with Link's Crossbow Training. The Game Blaster is developed by someone who isn't related to Nintendo, has a totally different design, and doesn't come with Link's Crossbow Training. DurinsBane87 (talk) 18:15, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I saw that you recently deleted the seals I added. The layout was not great, but there must be a better way to add these in the article. Can you suggest a alternative utilization of these ? Thanks ! --Napishtim (talk) 16:59, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't see a useful purpose for these images. I like them, and they might be useful for a Zelda Wikia, but I can't see a constructive purpose in the article. You could bring it up on the talk page of the article, maybe they have some ideas. DurinsBane87 (talk) 04:31, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 revision

[edit]

While I was browsing through my watchlist, I noticed you reverted the changes introduced in the article in the headline above by an unknown user. I don't see what's the problem with all that information being added in there, and I wish you could explain why it does not belong there. --Lashiec 22:17, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've explained it several time on that page itself, but Lists of levels are no different than lists of guns or power-ups or things of that nature. It's game guide material and it's against wikipedia's policies. DurinsBane87 22:22, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3RR

[edit]

A quick note on the Hitman movie article: you've reached your 3 reverts in 24 hour limit. Delete the trivia again and you'll be banned per WP:3RR. Use the talk page to discuss deletion of sections, as the trivia section says to integrate trivia into the main article, not delete. So your deletion of a trivia section without attempting to integrate it first is a violation of Wiki policies. Buspar 02:26, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the sentence you need to pay attention to in WP:TRIVIA: "This guideline does not suggest removing trivia sections, or moving them to the talk page." Please following the guidelines and stop deleting trivia sections. Buspar 09:07, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"This guideline does not suggest removing trivia sections, or moving them to the talk page. - If information is otherwise suitable, it is better that it be poorly presented than not presented at all."

That's the actual quote. My argument is that the information ISN'T suitable. DurinsBane87 15:34, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think of the Easter egg at Hitman (2007 film)? I recognize that it's a major Easter egg for video gamers, but it's a scene that has no impact on the plot and seems forced into that section. Do you think the mention is warranted at all? I was thinking that if there was a Production section and possibly some comment on the Easter egg by the star or director, it'd be OK. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 13:22, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If we can get that, then sure, but it looks ridiculous to have it in the plot section, or to have a trivia section thats longer than the plot section. DurinsBane87 15:32, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of mod section

[edit]

Hi,i was just wondering why u removed the mod section of the Renegade page that i made.Whats wrong with it?It took me some while to made, but if i made any error,i can understand that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Theta123 (talkcontribs) 13:34, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you can show that the mods are notable, I have no problem with them, but you need to find reliable sources outside of the websites that made the mods. If you can find that, then there's no reason you or I can't re-add them. DurinsBane87 (talk) 16:48, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All of the Mods have been reckoned by EA,and have lots of fans, including myself. All of the mods use ::the renegade engine, and are popular and Well know around the Renegade community.
APB have recieved many interviews from EA and magazines, here is one for example.
http://www.apathbeyond.com/forum/uploads/post-14-1197264227.jpg
C&C Reborn won the most hyped mod award in 2006 on moddb, and the the "Visual Delight" award in ::2005.
And i dont see why their own sites are not relaible enough. They each have their own MODDB profile.
http://www.moddb.com/games/631/cnc-reborn
http://www.moddb.com/games/321/red-alert-a-path-beyond
http://www.moddb.com/games/6670/red-alert-2-apocalypse-rising
I hope you find this enough. If not,i can always hunt for more sources. User:Theta123
I don't have time to figure out if moddb.com is usable, and the their own sites arent usuable to claim notability due to them being primary sources, but if a magazine mentioned them, thats works just fine, and if moddb.com ends up being usable, then I'll happily add them back in. These may be enough to get me to re-install Renegade, either way. Bring Moddb.com up on the videogame wikiproject talk page (there's a link in a user box on my userpage to the wikiproject) and they'll probably be able to asses it's reliability pretty swiftly. DurinsBane87 (talk) 17:14, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, ill go there, and see if they accept it.

And these 3 mods are worth it for re-installing Renegade.user:Theta123 —Preceding comment was added at 17:22, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

______________________________________________________________________________________________

I have asked it,and they consider magazine covers and Moddb awards relaible. In this case,i have enough Notable sources for C&C Reborn(Who won awards in 2005 and 2006) and for Red alert-A path beyond, wich have been putted in many magazines. Here is what they repplied : http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games#ModdB_as_reliable_source

I will be working on it later, and if u see anything wrong(unlikely but still),u can edit it.I am still fairly new to Wikipedia editing,so also, things i have done wrong, with lines and such, you can always edit it

Punisher: War Zone

[edit]

Ok, glad that's sorted out. Yeah, to be honest, I was in the hospital with a rather grave heart issue, and I had just gotten back onto wiki for my first day of editing, and I too ignored that first citation, didn't even click on it, but it's right there, hanging on the end of the lead. I assumed you had checked them all, so I was banging around various internet sites and so on, cause i KNEW it was right that it was a reboot. I was going to refer you to Lexi Alexander's recent interview, there was one just weeks ago where she said they barely looked at the 2004 film at all, that they wanted a totally different movie. Re: Cast section

[edit]

You can find the relevant section at WP:MOSFILM#Cast and crew information, but for that film article, you could put together a simple list for now, like:

  • John Doe as William Miller
  • Jane Doe as Sarah Roberts

You could attach a brief description of each role, but I don't know if you'd really find much information beyond that. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 02:52, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jerky fruit basket? Funny? Bad-tempered? Wow, this really DOES need a cleanup, the first three paragraphs look like a point of view. I made a section about this on the talk page of the movie. Since I only saw it once and am not a fan of that particular movie, I thought that true fans of the movie could help. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 12:40, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About the NFS 3, 4 and 6 pages orignially I didn't add the car or track lists just updated them since someone else did that One more thing some of the info was inaccurate like toyota being a traffic police suv in NFS 3 in the psx version its a Lamborghini LM002. Hi DurisBane87. I believe I need to have a chat with a certain 12-year old who thought he should be editing Wikipedia pages on a machine on which his father must still have been logged on (e.g., a Wikipedia cookie was set as having me logged in...). This same kid was recently was quoted as saying "if there's one thing I know, it's electronics" before managing to lock himself out of the prepaid cellular phone we have for him. Thanks for cleaning up his added "trivia" section. I promise I'll have a talk with him tomorrow. I apologize (to you and everyone else) for failure to make the ground rules more clear to the offspring (just because 38-year old dad jokes about making odd grammatical corrections to Wikipedia doesn't mean you snotrockets need to be making section changes to things that you *think* you know about...). Anyway. Thanks again. grfnkmp 23:30, 07 July 2008, CDT

Thank you for your input, I was unsure where else to go, as I was getting somewhat frustrated at the lack of actual discussion going on. DurinsBane87 (talk) 16:32, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If I can give you another word of advice, if the other editor inserts the inappropriate material again, don't revert it. You're already at risk of being criticized or even sanctioned for taking part in a slow-motion edit war. Making edits or reversions that you know will be reverted is one of the definitions of an edit war and the three revert rule does not have to be violated for an edit war to exist. You're taking the high road by taking the matter to dispute resolution, so don't open yourself to criticism, just play it through and the time will come when it can be deleted again. Best regards, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 19:31, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
