Canvassing
[edit]Please do not canvass for "keep" votes like you did here. You can be sanctioned if you do this. I realize you're a newer user, and Wikipedia has many bureaucratic rules that you may not be aware of, but this is kind of a big one. If you wish to alert uninvolved users, you may do so, but it must be in a neutral manner. For example, you might post a message on someone's talk page that says, "I have recently created a new article, and a deletion discussion is taking place. I would appreciate your input on the matter, either keep or delete." However, it would probably be best if you simply didn't message anyone, as even veteran users have difficulty in walking the line between canvassing and neutral messages. You are, of course, free to ignore this advice. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 09:59, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I meant, either keep or delete. Sorry for the confusion, thank you for telling me. I'm going through your awesome "Helpful links" section to prune the Heaven Sent Gaming article's reference section. DunDunDunt (talk) 06:05, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's a harmless error. There are a lot of people out there who take this stuff seriously, though, and they sometimes shoot first and ask questions later. It's best to be careful when treading into Wikipedia's more bureaucratic areas, such as AfD, because they have rules and guidelines that are not immediately obvious. Most rules simply boil down to "be neutral", "don't disrupt the encyclopedia", or "cite your sources". Everything else is basically negotiable. Bizarrely, I never saw those links collected anywhere else, and it was a pain to remember them. The article does look better, but I don't think it's going to be kept unless you can find more independent, reliable sources. Sometimes it's too soon to create articles on your favorite subject. If it does get deleted, you can request that a copy be moved to your own user space or draft space. You can work on it there without fear of deletion. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 12:48, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah this is all very complicated. And thank you so much for the useful links and whatnot. I'm confidant the article will be kept, with all you've taught me. Though if it is deleted, I'm not going to try too hard at this Wikipedia thing. I've worked really hard on this article and discussion; and since I'm an Atheist, I believe this life is all I'll get and I'm not gonna waste it here if I can't help. But, you've been great and full of useful information. DunDunDunt (talk) 13:37, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Called you a he.
[edit]In the Heaven Sent Gaming AfD. Totally sorry 'bout about that, I have no idea what gender you are, and it doesn't matter. I'm a chick. 144.76.174.53 (talk) 16:40, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- That's fine, I don't mind; it's just a word. I DO care about about my articles being removed though. DunDunDunt (talk) 09:46, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
Honestly, about Heaven Sent Gaming.
[edit]I've never seen a recent AfD with this much hostility Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Heaven Sent Gaming, all of their retorts apply vague interpretations of rules and guidelines. This is a mess, and it is why I never wanted an article about Heaven Sent Gaming. I'm sorry this event, along with the Commons fiasco, it has been such terrible experiences. The Wikimedia Projects aren't usually like this, don't give up on these projects. Smile Lee (talk) 19:18, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
- here's a few hints on where to find more sources, to User:DunDunDunt; podcast from Maine, podcast from New Jersey, news article in Colorado, news article in Arizona, radio show in Nevada, mention in Japanese magazine, a few more in the Albuquerque Metropolitan Area, and several more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smile Lee (talk • contribs) 21:54, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks but I'm giving up Wikipedia, this community hasn't been very inviting. I look forward to seeing Heaven Sent Gaming's updates, but as I stated above, I'm an atheist and I'm not wasting my time where I can't help. User:NinjaRobotPirate, User:Tvoz and you have been so kind to help others understand the rules and guidelines. I tried really hard, lost sleep, and had an anxiety attack about a post below by the user, I'm even too freaked out to link to his user page, Mendaliv about the AfD on my Heaven Sent Gaming article. In fact, I even tried to correct my other deleted article about Comic Book DB, but User:Hahc21 never even helped userfy the old article. Not staying here... DunDunDunt (talk) 15:54, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- I've been busy. I will email you a copy of the article soon. Don't feel discouraged, we all see Wikipedia as rough the first time. But after you've spent some time here, you won't feel like that anymore. → Call me Hahc21 18:14, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

- Wikipedia is occasionally very frustrating. I have had many bad experiences, including one editor who accused me of being a paid shill and sought to have me kicked off Wikipedia. It can also be very rewarding, though I guess you probably won't see many rewarding discussions in the more drama-filled, toxic areas of Wikipedia like AfD. I'm honored you've found me helpful, but I don't think that I've really done much. Still, you can contact me on my talk page whenever you want, and I'll try to help. I generally don't like to talk about myself on Wikipedia (I think that Wikipedia should be about my edits and not me), but I'm bipolar. I know what it's like to get stressed out about stuff. I've found that sometimes it helps to take a break, find a less stressful area of Wikipedia to edit, or to just vent somewhere. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 19:07, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to hear that. The AfD discussions can be an extremely toxic environment, and they do not reflect the Wikipedia community. Though Heaven Sent Gaming's AfD has been beyond the norm, that's mostly due to the sock-puppetry that's happened during the course of its time in AfD. I can see that you put quite a bit of effort into the Heaven Sent Gaming and Comic Book DB articles, I will help to rebuild the Comic Book DB one, User:Hahc21 once its userfied notify me, please and thank you. I have a more experience on here, it should be easier for me to clearly communicate the notability of the topic. The whole reason I never wanted a Heaven Sent Gaming article on here is because: I don't like to do interviews, I'm a staunch Libertarian hermit anti-cellphone sort of person, Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. Yeah, well....
