Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because: It suggests sock puppetry, which is strictly prohibited. If, after reviewing that policy, you believe your username does not violate policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you can file for a change of username, or you can simply create a new account and start using that one instead. Please discuss this on my talk page.

No problem. An elite (talk) 00:00, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Faith Collapsing has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 14:43, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Duffmasterofpuppets, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 03:22, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

My username was blocked because it contains the word "puppet". This is not the case. Any sensible person could see that it is meant to pay homage to a band. I find this block to be completely superfluous and unneeded.

Accept reason:

This whole series of events is quite odd. Why you were blocked after not editing for over a year is beyond me, and your username is not in any way a violation of our username policy. Some of our admins have gotten a bit jumpy about anything that even mentions puppetry, it is an unfortunate side effect of dealing with so many users who are deliberately disrupting Wikipedia, which I see no evidence of in your case. Welcome back. Beeblebrox (talk) 03:15, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was blocked because it contains "masterofpuppets". —Jeremy v^_^v Components:V S M 02:39, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So what? That is not a violation of the username policy. At the most someone might have tried to discuss the matter with them, but it is certainly not a "block on sight" violation, and probably not a violation at all. I'm overturning this block. Beeblebrox (talk) 03:10, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Jeremy, see the disscussion notice still visible at the top of this page, which clearly does say the problem is the mere presence of the word "puppet." Cirt edited that notice, then came back over a year later and blocked. That's not only bizarre but flat out wrong. We should only be blocking usernames if they are spammers or manifestly acting in bad faith. For everything else there is WP:RFC/NAME. Beeblebrox (talk) 03:20, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
