how could he have been overlooked? that makes no sense: he was the second one in line of succession and, at the end of the day, he succeeded his father; is there any act, deed or charter, in which the 2^nd, 4^th & 5^th sons are named and the 3^rd one is expressly omitted? Edward was regarded as a saint in his own time because the murder of a king was considered an unforgivable crime, and his feast day is still listed today by the Church of England, but he could not be more unworthy of the designation. I do not agree that it is widely accepted. I did not add this particular hatnote, but I have added dozens myself and seen countless others, and no one has queried it before to my knowledge.
