Imzadi1979 a sock?

[edit]

Hi Dreamy Jazz! I was surprised to see that Imzadi1979 was blocked as a sock, looking at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/That guy who plays games I'm not entirely sure how that conclusion is drawn so just thought I should pop in for a bit of clarification. Thanks for raising this. Obviously in error. I've unblocked. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 17:00, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The reason this happened is that the user was mentioned in the reasoning for the report using the {{noping}} template and so appears as a user in the list of users to block. I've left an apology on the user talk page of Imzadi1979. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 17:05, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That was my first guess as to what had happened, the second guess was some sort of privately submitted evidence unreferenced to avoid outing but that seemed unlikely in context. Thank you for clearing it up! All the best Horse Eye's Back (talk) 18:26, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
According to the unblock log, you said "the SPI helper tool pre-selected users for a block"... I wondered if Wikipedia was following the Minority Report model now, where we pre-select and block editors for transgressions before they actually commit them?  — Amakuru (talk) 13:46, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Appears to be dealt with, but I'm not sure as the link did not work for me (I'm using desktop mode). Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 21:36, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ria Cruz sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hello. In April 2024, I reported a potential sockpuppet of user Ria Cruz and you requested addition information, which I never provided. [9] Months later, another user has reported the same suspected sockpuppet with more evidence that it could belong Ria Cruz. [10] I was hoping you could take a look at the investigation and see if the CheckUser request can be accepted this time. Thank you. Telenovelafan215 (talk) 02:38, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edit reverted by sockpuppet - advice wanted

[edit]

A minor edit which I made to Pridi Banomyong on 21 August (changing "aftermatch" to "aftermath") has subsequently been included in a more extensive reversion by User:Wonnie97 (who I gather to be a sockpuppet of User:BlueDIAMOND20s) - this may have been incidental on their part, since two of the other three edits reverted had been made by User:Teddy983 (who I gather was another sockpuppet of User:BlueDIAMOND20s).

I would like to reinstate my previous edit but am, firstly, unsure whether it counts any longer as minor and, secondly, whether I should be giving a further rationale (beyond my previous "Typo correction") for the reinstatement.

Thanks for your advice. PWilkinson (talk) 10:34, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
