Speedy Deletion request Rijman Groenink
Hi, You requested a Speedy Deletion request for Rijkman Groenink as 'not indicated why person impotant'. Did you have a look at the article? The content says imho why the article should be there. RG was the CEO and with that the driving force regarding the sale of ABN AMRO, the largest banking group in The Netherlands, and this sell-off of the bank was one of the main reasons for the complete collapse of Fortis Bank SA and a helping factor in the further collapse of Royal Bank of Scotland.
Being the driving force and the responsible person for possibly Worst takeover deal ever is imho alone enough reason for a page on Wiki.
So I really don't see why this should be a Speedy Deletion: his name and fame is comparable to Fred Goodwin (and RG and FG are both very responsible personally for the failure of the RBS takeover of ABN Amro. Tonkie (talk) 02:50, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- I do understand what you mean...but pretty much what you have written is a biography of him which is fine, if he was well-known. The "Worst takeover ever," is not a notable event that happened. Which makes him an unremarkable person. Take Kevin O'Leary for example. He sold his education company to Matell for 3.6 billion dollars, which is remarkable, and may reach criteria...but he is also a "Shark" on the TV show Shark Tank. Do you see the difference? But still he has some significance. I have removed the tag. DreamFieldArts 6:34, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- @DFA: I really do appreciate you withdrawing the nomination. There are not many people who do actually consider arguments and then act on it. I've had a similar discussion with another wikipedian who nominated a page from me and I also tried to explain to him why I thought that that page should remain on Wiki. His request was turned down for exactly the same reasons as I gave him. His reaction -very sporty- was to nominate aprox 10 articles that I had edited or created that day.
- The guy didn't really reach his goal as he was blocked for 2 weeks, and that made him so angry that after the 2 weeks he removed all content of all the pahes he had ever edited - and that resulted in another block :-) (And just for your information: the guy thought that a page on a technology/IEEE standard shouldn't be published on the Dutch language Wiki because there was already an English page AND there was no significant Dutch interest in the subject. (If you can't follow the explination it has nothing to do with you being American - I had to read his reasoning several times over just to undderstand what he tried to explain.....
- Anyway, thanks for the removal of the nomination - really appreciated Tonkie (talk) 06:53, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion Yogoberry, Yogoothies
I am writing articles related to Brazilian fast food chains. There are thousands of articles on wikipedia about fast food chains in various locations worldwide, such as: California Burrito Co. (Argentina), Café de Coral (Hong Kong), Bembos (Peru), Khaanbuuz (Mongolia)... They may not be known in the United States, but are part of the interest of the rest of the world. I wonder if the articles I'm writing are different from the standard adopted in these pages. Please let me continue contributing to Wikipedia.--Flaviohmg (talk) 06:59, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- I understand, but their is a thin line between a company that can have one to its just advertising. I previous tagged Spoleto and it was deleted for the same reason, and I don't see the difference in these. The page has been contested for speedy deletion, meaning it has not been deleted yet. It has just been tagged for an administrator to look at what I believe to be an unremarkable person. If the admin agrees with me, the page will be deleted...if not the page stays up, no questions asked.DreamFieldArts 13:47, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Shuhrat Abbosov
You proposed my recent article on Shuhrat Abbosov for speedy deletion. I wonder if you actually read the entry. The article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Abbosov has received many honorary titles and awards, including a People's Artist of the Uzbek SSR, a People's Artist of the USSR, and an Order of the Red Banner of Labour. He is considered to one of the most influential Uzbek filmmakers and is celebrated as one of the founders of the Uzbek film making industry. See the sources given in the article. Nataev (talk) 08:50, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for you input. Your tag has been removed. DreamFieldArts 13:34, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion Request: Melaleuca, Inc.
Nicely done, and thanks. I created the web page for Melaleuca, Inc but after your deletion I realized that the real notability for the company is CEO Frank L. VanderSloot's role and political funding. A redirect to his page serves the purpose better than a separate page.Mark Asread (talk) 20:46, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, it was me who did the redirect when reviewing that speedy tag DGG ( talk ) 04:13, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Chardon School shooting
Hi, You just tagged Chardon High School shooting as having a lead that is too short. This article is less than an hour old. It is in development as the story is breaking right now. If you know of another tag that says this is a developing article, I think that will work better. I expect that by this evening it will be a better developed article.--Ishtar456 (talk) 16:38, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, please expand the article to meet Wikipedia standards...you can put an article still in creation tag on your page in you want. Peace, DreamFieldArts 16:40, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I guess that is my point, why have your tag on there at all? It has been appropriately tagged and I just started it a couple of hours ago. I don't write articles that don't meet the standards so I am taking your tag off. I would have appreciated it if you would have removed it yourself. I just have to say you were hasty. --Ishtar456 (talk) 19:17, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Follow up on earlier talks
Hi DFA,
Although you did contribute in the talk I and Bill shannon had on Bill talk page I'm not sure if you have his talk-page in your follow list: just to let you know I continued discussion with Bill in regards to NPP and you specifically. Feel free to join in the discussion. If you rather would like to react off-line/in private just email me. Without your OK I never publish a private meant email on a public page. Lead too long
Hi there. You seem to be running a script that looks for pages with long introductions and sticks the "lead too long" template at the top of them. I just started a page a few minutes ago and got hit with this when the page had one sentence on it. Your script really needs to check that the page is at least some minimum length before claiming that its lead is too long, because as is, it does things that don't make any sense. This isn't a big deal for me, but it would be nice to avoid in the future. Thanks. --Strait (talk) 15:19, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
- Mean't to tag that the "lead was too short" DreamFieldArts 17:43, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
- Excuse me? Can you answer in a coherant way? If you can't manage to make yourself understood on your talk page, you have no business trying to fix other people's Wikipedia's edits. --Strait (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
Wave Crasher
You requested a speedy deletion of Wave_Crasher before I had a chance to finish writing it. In the future I will have it written prior to publishing. Thanks for the heads up Chesteria 785 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:54, 1 March 2012 (UTC).
- I don't kill a page if it is not short, unless there isn't enough info to give me a basic idea of what it is. If the page wasn't edited for a while, I put a "lead to short" tag on the page. I tagged your page for speedy deletion because it was advertising, and that is not what Wikipedia is for. DreamFieldArts 1:35, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Use of the word "vandalism"
You seem to have deleted from your user page a number of userboxes, giving the edit summary "(Reverted 18 edits by DreamFieldArts (talk) identified as vandalism to last revision by AussieLegend." since you placed these boxes yourself, calling them vandalism seems rather unusual. Certainly you have the right to remove those boxes you no longer wish to have there, but we reserve the word "vandalism" for deliberate attempts to damage the encyclopedia. Though this does no harm if you apply it to yourself, it would do very much harm if you ever unjustifiably applied it to edits by someone else. This seems to reinforce the view that you do not yet understand how to edit. DGG ( talk ) 21:57, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
- I was looking at the past history, and mistakinly clicked revert, without putting in any info, sorry if the confused you. DreamFieldArts 13:43, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
- so you can switch it back, that's fine. everyone does that sort of thing from time to time and needs to revert it, but the edit summary should be. Revert, my error or something of that sort. "Vandalism" is a loaded word here and should not be used for your ordinary error, or anyone else's. DGG ( talk ) 05:27, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Recent deletions &c
- Camp Tekakwitha, you tagged G11; short non promotional article; correctly declined by another ed. ;beww editor received the standard notice inappropriately. probably not notable, but that's another matter,
- Loop Hole Brewing Company. Correctly tagged G11
- Apple media events, tagged prod, with concern = not a really needed article ; prod correctly removed by another ed., saying appropriately "Feel free to find a policy-based reason for deletion, "doesn't belong" won't cut it." This is the sort of topic where prod is useless even when deletion is merited, because there will surely be opposition. A merge has now been proposed,
- Siccness prodded. Correct. and speedy deleted as A7.
- It's Only Kent (TV Show) correct speedy
- Miscrits of sunfall kindom . correct speedy
- List of FK Partizan presidents correct speedy
- Kony 2012 . Speedied as G11, but now properly merged and redirected to another article
- . IPad (3rd generation) you Redirected page first to IPad HD and then to The New iPad; this was during a long discussion on the talk p. in which you did not participate, and where the consensus already was that (3rd generation) was the appropriate name. (at least for now) Now back at its original correct title
- The gallons issue above, where you went against one of the basic prescriptions of the MOS.
Of these 10 actions 4 or 5 were clear errors--as judged by both me and another editor also. This rate is unacceptable. I have warned you already that one more incorrect tag would be cause for a block. In view of the complaints by many other editors also, I had previously given you a one week ban from deletion tagging, which you have ignored. I ought to therefore block you for disruptive editing and tagging.
But I really hate to block people. Instead,
- I am giving you a two week ban, running through March 23, from new page patrol, from page moves without clear prior consensus, and from tagging articles for deletion except in cases of clear vandalism or copyvio.
- I am giving you a two week ban, running through March 23, from new page patrol, from page moves without clear prior consensus, and from tagging articles for deletion except in cases of clear vandalism or copyvio.
If you come across something that badly needs deletion otherwise but has not yet been noticed, notify me or some other admin and if justified we will certainly delete it or list it for deletion. I will block you if you violate it -- without further warning. If any admin thinks that I ought instead to have actually blocked, I have no objection if they do it. DGG ( talk ) 01:29, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- Really that seems like 95% success. I wrote that on the apple media events page, but my laptop died, and figured out what I wrote wasn't correct and didn't decide to put it up. (unknowingly that it was already posted) I didn't know there was a discussion page about the iPad 3, which is my error. Lastly camp Tekakwitha looked like an ad. They said Spacious forest of 90 acres and also french speaking - co-ed To me that seemed automatically advertising. As it was also very short. In my mind this is 95% or greater if you beg to differ. Also Kony 2012 was tagged and then merged which is also not a problem. I really don't see how you believe how I am performing wrongly. Gallons issue, is a completely different story, I wasn't thinking correctly about the situation, but note that no issues were cause, Aussielegend noticed my mistakes and helped me out. Also I did not ignore your one week ban...you gave it to me Feb 29th (New York) today is the 8th (New York). I followed your instructions, and the errors that you say I have made, is just a little much. As I have worked on my workflow on here, trying not making stupid mistakes. (besides the gallon thing) Everything else is fine, nothing that I have done has created havoc. DreamFieldArts 02:17, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- I think DGG is being unreasonably harsh. He makes me feel nervous that he might start to look closely at my new page patrolling! — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:02, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- He isn't being that bad. He just doesn't want me to get in trouble when I NPP. Now as I stated above I have 95% success rate. But he claims to differ. Everyone has their own opinion, DGG was just trying to help; that's all. DreamFieldArts (talk) 19:40, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Talk page icons
You have neither rollback or autopatrolled rights, so you really shouldn't have the icons at the top of your talk page. --AussieLegend (talk) 11:29, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- I took it off. I put that header on and it came with it by accident. DreamFieldArts (talk) 13:34, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- Doesn't Twinkle give you Rollback rights though? Zach Vega (talk) 17:26, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- Possibly but I really don't know. DreamFieldArts (talk) 17:36, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- Twinkle gives you a couple of links that say rollback, but it's not the same. Users without rollback rights miss out on a link that only rollbackers get. Rollback rights have to be specifically assigned to users.[1][2][3] --AussieLegend (talk) 17:48, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
