Hello! i saw your recent edits to OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and thought you should know that the page uses British English and generally a topic should stick to one spelling convention. Also, generally anything that isn't an obvious typo or vandalism shouldn't be flagged as minor. Hope this helps. Welcome to Wiki!blindlynx (talk) 20:23, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Curcuma. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Don't use words such as "exceptional" (WP:NPOV) and don't refer to anything from Ayurveda which is quackery. Use WP:MEDRS sources when supporting medical content. Zefr (talk) 17:46, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
On se calme! I added a botanical description, which I will put back in since it is purely factual (rhizomes, herbaceous, perennial; what’s your problem with that?). Also, I said nothing about Ayurveda, which I know nothing about — are you making things up? The word ‘exceptional’ I am willing to get rid of, but the plant does have an exceptional number of uses. This article could be greatly improved with information already available on other Wikipedia pages. It’s people like you who make progress on WP difficult — Get a grip! 22:11, 23 January 2022 (UTC)Dr Dobeaucoup (talk)
Potager du roi
[edit]Hello, Doc,
I lived in Versailles for a couple of years, but at the time, the Potager du Roi was rarely open. I don't think I ever visited....
Anyway, I believe you are misinterpreting the WP:Article titles policy. The principal policy is "Article titles are based on how reliable English-language sources refer to the article's subject". The Potager du Roi is rarely called anything else in English, though it is often glossed as 'The King's Kitchen Garden', 'The King's Vegetable Garden', 'The King's Garden', or even 'The King's Potager'. It's the same as, say, Notre-Dame de Paris. There is no provision for adding parenthetical translations; parentheses are only used when there is more than one thing with a given name, e.g., Mercury (element).
Best, --Macrakis (talk) 14:00, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
I am not convinced by your logic. You will note that the only modern book (de Courtois) cited in the references uses both PdR and The King's Vegetable Garden in the title. As for Notre Dame de Paris, that works for English speakers because of the Disney movie and the famous novel. Le PdR is not there yet.
I cite below the operative paragraph from the WP guidelines(note, in particular, the text on greater understanding for the English-speaking reader):
In deciding whether and how to translate a foreign name into English, follow English-language usage. If there is no established English-language treatment for a name, translate it if this can be done without loss of accuracy and with greater understanding for the English-speaking reader.
The number of pageviews for this article is ridiculously low (8 per day over a 90 day period). The Chateau receives millions of visitors every year! I suggest that we keep the title as you have altered it for the time being and take stock again when tourism has picked up in July-August. If pageviews don't increase, then it's clear that we need to change the title.

Nursery Schools of France
[edit]Thank you for creating Nursery Schools of France. Please consider merging this article to Education in France, or at least including a short mention of nursery schools in that article with a section hat-note link to 'main'. Also, please be absolutely sure to include the official attribution on the talk page for this and any articles you translate from the French Wikipedia, bearing in mind also that the fr.Wiki is less strict on notability and referencing. Thanks. (FYI: I taught at several levels within the framework of French national education for 12 years in Provence, but that was 22 years ago. I was not aware that École Maternelle had become compulsory). Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:14, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Kudpung. Thanks for the suggestions. I have created a link in the article to Education in France. About the attribution question: if you compare the current version of the article with the French version you will see that they are quite different. A few paras are straightforward translations, but many are mixtures of the French WP page plus other sources (which are duly referenced). What to do?
- PS I also was surprised that schooling is now compulsory for 3 year olds. Dr Dobeaucoup (talk) 20:04, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Tour Grimaldi
[edit]Hello Dr Dobeaucoup,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Tour Grimaldi for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

- What is the other source? It is a translation from the French article. Dr Dobeaucoup (talk) 18:23, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
Welcome, and thank you for contributing the page Pissalat to Wikipedia. While you have added the page to the English version of Wikipedia, the article is not in English. We invite you to translate it into English. It has been listed at Pages needing translation into English, but if it is not translated within two weeks, the article will be listed for deletion. Thank you.
Bienvenu(e), et merci de votre contribution de la page Pissalat à Wikipédia. Bien que vous ayez introduit cette page à la version anglaise de Wikipédia, elle n'est pas en anglais et elle a donc été ajoutée à la liste des pages en besoin de traduction. Nous vous invitons à la traduire vous-même, mais si elle n'est pas traduite d'ici deux semaines, on proposera sa suppression. Merci.
Er, the template sounds a little drastic — the Confrerie translated section you added wasn't actually translated. I took a peek with Google Translate, and wasn't sure how to phrase it correctly, so left it alone. (Also listed here.) Take a look if you can, thanks! 2600:1700:87D3:3460:2C3E:9128:A991:DBC1 (talk) 08:25, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hello. Here is how this article was developed : I translated using Google traduction the bits from the French WP page that I thought would be of interest to an English speaking audience. The page in English already existed, but was a stub. I don’t quite understand what the problem is. I am talking about this article: Pissalat. Is that what you are talking about?
- PS I didn’t translate the short Confrerie section in the English version of this page because it will require a long explanation for a non-French audience. Don’t think it’s worth it, but I could give it a shot.
- Dr Dobeaucoup (talk) 10:47, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
That short section is what I was talking about — if you think it'd be beneficial to have on the English version, then I'd encourage you to try writing a translated explanation! If not, then it's best to remove the section instead of leaving it untranslated.Scratch that, it's already been taken care of. 2600:1700:87D3:3460:85C5:CB26:A7AA:3D4A (talk) 00:25, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
Marie-José Chombart de Lauwe
[edit]Hi there, Dr Dobeaucoup, and thank you for creating Marie-José Chombart de Lauwe. When you base articles on pages from other versions of Wikipedia, for attribution purposes you need to explain it is based on a translation in your first edit (as you did with Jeanne Bohec). It's also useful to include a "translation" template on the talk page. See Help:Translation for more details. I've taken care of this one but you should remember this for future translations. If you intend to write more articles about women, you might like to become a member of WikiProject Women in Red. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 08:33, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, Ipigott. Will do. Just a quick note, though. This is not a straightforward translation. I added some of my own research. Dr Dobeaucoup (talk) 09:33, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I realize that - as with most of your other translations. You should however still state that the article contains a translation or perhaps has been inspired by the article in the other language. I hope in any case that you will be creating more articles about women.--Ipigott (talk) 14:13, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- Ok. Got it! And, yes, I am looking at the Wikiproject Women in Red list. Very useful. Dr Dobeaucoup (talk) 16:14, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 00:00, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- It turns out that this photo (which is in the archives of the National Park Service of the U S government; its documentation states that it is in the public domain) is already on Wikipedia.
- Sorry about the needless work for you I am used to using the upload wizard, which I couldn’t find on the internet. Consequently, I was a little confused. Dr Dobeaucoup (talk) 00:09, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
