Thank you for your advice back then. I appreciated your trying to help me but couldn't figure out how to set up my own talkback page (which I thought at the time I had to have to reply). Anyway, thanks (belatedly). Dr. Nora Gold (talk) 14:28, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Dr. Nora Gold. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Jewish Fiction .net, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. FuriouslySerene (talk) 19:56, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Furiously Serene. I was unaware of the COI guidelines and thank you for pointing them out to me. I will not repeat my error. Dr. Nora Gold (talk) 21:09, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

May 2016[edit]

Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Nora Gold. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. FuriouslySerene (talk) 19:59, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Furiously Serene. I understand what you are saying. This is all new to me and I obviously will not do this again. Dr. Nora Gold (talk) 21:11, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, lots of newer editors don't know about the policies. If you want a change to be made to either of those pages you should suggest it on the talk page and another editor can make it for you. FuriouslySerene (talk) 13:49, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for understanding, and also for enlightening me about all this. Much appreciated. Dr. Nora Gold (talk) 14:26, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

October 2016[edit]

I see you've made more edits to the Nora Gold article again. Like I mentioned before, it is not appropriate to make edits to the page because of your conflict of interest. Please avoid making edits in the future and propose changes on the article's talk page instead. If you continue to edit the page, it may result in the loss of editing privileges. FuriouslySerene (talk) 17:52, 26 October 2016 (UTC) I'm sorry, I misread the edit history of the page. I apologize for my mistake. FuriouslySerene (talk) 19:34, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Furiously Serene, I have not made any changes or edits at all to the Nora Gold article since we communicated about this in the spring. I do not understand why you think that I did. Please clarify. Thanks. Dr. Nora Gold (talk) 18:07, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, Furiously Serene. These things happen. All the best. Dr. Nora Gold (talk) 20:43, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
