Autopatrolled

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing!  Wifione Message 11:40, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Since you've just thanked me for an edit, I wondered if I could ask your advice on the recent edits to Ravi Teja. George8211 / T 17:54, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. George8211 / T 19:13, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ravi Teja, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Krishna Reddy. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Template Help

Hi Dps,

I was wondering if you could help me with creating some templates and possibly adding them to the infobox on this page. Basically, as you will see in the infobox, there is 'Headteacher', I want that template to be changed to 'Executive Headteacher'. Also, I'd like another template below that as 'Academy Head'. I'm not too sure how to do this on Wikipedia as it seems slightly different to Wikia. Could you possibly look into doing this for me please? :P

Have a good day,

Callum220299 (talk) 00:04, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

RE: Template Help

Hey Dps,

That's absolutely amazing, just one thing, is it possible if you could move the 'Academy Head' section just below the 'Executive Headteacher'. I tried testing and moving things around but it didn't seem to work as I expected it would. :P

Have a good day,

CSD Notice

Hey, added a second CSD criteria to that article you tagged from St Louis University. It's a clear copy-paste copyvio from somewhere here: [1] or one of its publications, I just couldn't find it outright. RegistryKey(RegEdit) 09:12, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi Dps, Please can you advise on speedily deleted page I recently created? Michaelhilliard (talk) 09:37, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

Brenda Moon

Hi Dps04. thanks for reviewing. We are in the middle of an editathon at the moment. Can you hold off from editing this page for 2-3 hours as I am improving the article and getting edit conflicts at present. Thanks for understanding. Melissa Highton (talk) 16:13, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

Sure, apologies for inconveniences I might have caused you. --Dps04 (talk) 16:14, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

New Page Reviwer granted

Hello Dps04. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:50, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

Congrats

Hey Dps, long time no see. Congratulations on your promotion to new pages reviewer. P.S. I'm a rollback here now. :D The Ninja5 Empire (Talk) 08:48, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Thanks. You found out before I did LOL. However, I don't go on much now I'm afraid but I may go on someday. :) The Ninja5 Empire (Talk) 11:58, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Dps04,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello Dps04,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 808 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

About recreating the TiDB page

Dear Dps04,
Thanks for reviewing my wikipedia page! I am very sorry that the first time I tried to create the TiDB page, it violates so many rules. I tried to edit the content and now it looks like the following:
https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/TiDB
Could you please review it again and let me know if there is any issue with it? Your comments are highly appreciated!
Thanks! --Queenypingcap (talk) 02:13, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

Dear Dps04, I am not sure if you can receive the message I left on my talk page. So I left another message here: Hi Dps04,
Thank you so much for all these detailed instructions and the kind words! I am deeply moved by your way of welcoming me to the big Wikipedia family. You help and encouragement is priceless for a newbie like me. I seriously cannot thank you enough! I will take your advice and Kudpung's advice very seriously and see how I can improve this page further.
Again, Thanks a lot!!! Best regards,--Queenypingcap (talk) 05:48, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

Autopatrolled rights

Hello! Just wanted to say a quick thanks for reviewing the two pages that you did; I just applied for autopatrolled rights, fingers crossed that I get accepted.

Thanks again! PCN02WPS (talk) 06:14, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

@PCN02WPS You're welcome. Wish you luck :) --Dps04 (talk) 06:22, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Just a quick question: How long does it normally take them to accept or reject someone? It's been about four days since I submitted the request and I haven't heard anything back. Just wondering if you had any idea how long it takes. Thanks for your help. PCN02WPS (talk) 03:05, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Hey PCN02WPS, it appears your request for autopatrolled rights has been declined because you failed to reply to an admin's inquiry in due course. I suggest you make another request (preferrably after a while), and address the concerns the admin raised. Since admins may not necessarily ping users, you may also wish to add the autopatrolled rights request page to your watchlist, so you would not miss any requests for responses in the future. Again, keep up with your good work creating articles, and I am sure you would succeed next time. --Dps04 (talk) 03:24, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter No.2

Hello Dps04,
A HUGE backlog

We now have 808 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.

Hitting 17,000 soon

The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.

Second set of eyes

Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.

Abuse

This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and

  1. this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
  2. this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
  3. This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

Coordinator election

Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

Cherkasy National University

Hello! Why you remove information about the structure of the Cherkasy National University? It is not protected by copyright. Besides some this information are absent at the website. --Maxim Gavrilyuk (talk) 10:02, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

@Maxim Gavrilyuk: Thanks for the message. In the Cherkasy National University article, I noticed the section entitled "Organisation and administration" contained information copied almost verbatim from The University's webpage, without proper acknowledgment and attribution. This prima facie constituted plagarism. In accordance with the guidelines, I suggest you paraphrase and summarize the information obtained from that webpage (and indeed any online sources), before including it with inline citations in Wikipedia. This suggestion holds water whether the source is protected by copyright or not. Hope this helps :) --Dps04 (talk) 10:17, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
I try respect the copyright in the Wikipedia. But how you propose to paraphrase the official names of institutes, faculties, and others institutes and buildings ? It is nonsense.--Maxim Gavrilyuk (talk) 10:32, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
@Maxim Gavrilyuk: By paraphrase, I mean at least changing the way in which information was presented. As an example, the names of the institutes and faculties can be included in a paragraph, rather than in bullet points (as in the source). Also, don't forget the citation part too. Thanks. --Dps04 (talk) 10:40, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
