Unspecified source for Image:PreityZinta.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:PreityZinta.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 20:49, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:PreityZinta.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:PreityZinta.jpg. However, Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.

Fair use rationale for Image:PreityZinta.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:PreityZinta.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 20:49, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
Image:PreityZinta.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:PreityZinta.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 20:49, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:PreityZ.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:PreityZ.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Preity Zinta's picture
[edit]Hello, Dondoniko, I noticed you keep adding a picture to Preity Zinta's profile in her actor's box. Problem is: if Wikipedia tags a picture as fair use and it is from a movie, it has to be used in the movie's article or to illustrate the movie. It cannot be used to illustrate the actress, because then, the fair use tag is obsolete. It can however be used to illustrate the character the actress is portraying.
To give an example: if you have a baseball card which shows baseball player XYZ, you cannot use the baseball card in player XYZ's article to show people what he looks like (meaning: you cannot put the baseball card into the player's box or, in Preity Tinta's case, the actor's box). However, what you can do, is write a short paragraph that player XYZ was so popular that they made a baseball card of him and then use the baseball card next to this paragraph. For Preity Zinta's picture, this means: you can use all her pictures from KANK/Salaam Namaste next to the paragraph that gives information about the corresponding movies, but you cannot use those pictures to illustrate Preity Zinta herself, because then, the fair use rationale becomes useless. It's some legal mambo-jumbo. For further information, please consult Wikipedia:Fair_use_criteria, WP:FU, ask me or User Yamla. Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 12:06, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Pictures & Fair Use Rationale
[edit]Hello,Dondoniko, I noticed you uploaded a new picture for Preity Zinta. Unfortunately, this violates the fair use rationale also. The fair use rationale #1 states:
- 1. No free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information.
Preity Zinta is alive and is possibly being photographed every day - meaning: it's possible to create a free image of her, but until this moment, it has not happened yet. If she were -- God beware! -- dead, things would be different, since no new images could be created of her and all those who are availabe are non-free. In this case, a fair use picture would be okay. I hope this helps to understand why there can't be a fair use image in the actor's box. If you have further question, don't hesitate and ask me.
Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 17:13, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:PZKANK2.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:PZKANK2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Images
[edit]We do not allow unfree images in infoboxes, please do not continue adding them. Guy (Help!) 11:16, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- AN unfree image is one which has not been released into the public domain by the originator. The public domain is not the same as simply publishing something: any uublished picture is copyright and the rights attach to the photographer or publisher, unless they exlpicitly release those rights - which they very rarely do. Sometimes it's OK to use an image under "fair use", unless there is a reasonable chance of replacing with a free image. In the case of living individuals, it is usually possible that an editor could take a photo, so fair use unfree images of living individuals are often removed as being reasonably replaceable by a free one. Yamla!
[edit]You said: "I reuploaded the image again with all the necesarry explainations. the image is free. Please click on the image to see what I have done. What makes you think that the image is wrong? Could you explain it to me?!"
- We are not permitted to use fair-use images to depict living people, as has been pointed out to you. WP:FU allows only freely-licensed images used solely to depict living people. --Yamla 17:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
3RR

What do u want?!
[edit]You said: "What do u want from me?! What have I done??? I think u just looking for someone to block. I am just working now on another image. and this one is allowed you will see."
- Which part of WP:FU are you having problems understanding? Several people have explained this several different ways but there seems to be a problem somewhere. Additionally, you continued to edit Preity Zinta after you were specifically told you were in violation of WP:3RR, so you have now been blocked. --Yamla 18:24, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:KKITB.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Blocked
[edit]Your very first action back from your prior block was to violate an image's license once again. You have been blocked for one week. If you are unwilling or unable to follow WP:FU, please refrain from uploading or using any more images. --Yamla 23:01, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
why did you block me?
[edit]I have already pointed you to WP:FU. As a general rule, please avoid all fair-use images. Only freely-licensed images may be used to depict living people. As to Diane Keaton, that is not one of the 11,000+ pages that I monitor. As to those images, not one of them is freely licensed and so not one of those may be used to depict a living person. I do not know a good way of explaining critical commentary to you. In all cases, though, you have been using the images solely to illustrate the article. Perhaps Wikipedia talk:Copyright problems could offer you an explanation. In the mean time, however, please avoid all fair-use images. --Yamla 18:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
