Proposed deletion of Mesa View Elementary School

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mesa View Elementary School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Image:Favre 1996.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Favre 1996.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image with an unknown source or an unknown copyright status which has been tagged as such for more than 7 days, and it still lacks the necessary information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Favre 1996.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. –King Bee (τγ) 11:34, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of material

[edit]

You seem to be going through articles and removing mention of people being Roman Catholic, yet you provide no explanation for your edits. Please stop, unless you have valid reasons for these removals, and properly note them. Thank you. --ZimZalaBim talk 14:24, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I misread your edits. You seem to be adding the fact that people are Roman Catholic. I presume, given our guidelines for biographies, that you have citable evidence to confirm your additions. --ZimZalaBim talk 14:31, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading Image:Coca Cola 2008 crash.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 14:33, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Joe Greene 2006.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Joe Greene 2006.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:27, 26 May 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:27, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

your message

[edit]

Regarding your e-mailed message to me: "Hey, what the heck, dont mess with the "St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School" article. You never went to St. Teresa and im sure you are not Catholic. It is part of the article. Thank you.". First, you don't own that article. Second, any religious beliefs or affiliations I have are irrelevant and not appropriate for you to bring up. Third, we have standards for what to include in this encyclopedia and this article must adhere to them. Thank you. --ZimZalaBim talk 11:38, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have now received a 2nd uncivil e-mail from you. Let me repeat: you don't WP:OWN that article, and a lengthy biography of the current principle (whether retiring or not, whether your grandfather or not) is not appropriate. This is an encyclopedia, not a place for you to include a personal tribute. If you insert this material again, you risk being blocked from editing for disruption. --ZimZalaBim talk 16:07, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Cibola County Beacon

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Cibola County Beacon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Jr. Flat Charlotte.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jr. Flat Charlotte.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:26, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome for expanding the article. You had a good start, and you had found an excellent source with the Denver newspaper source. I used that source to expand the article, and I kept finding other sources when searching the internet. Royalbroil 19:42, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Jr._Flat_Charlotte.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jr._Flat_Charlotte.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 15:22, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:Busch 2008 Nationwide car.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Busch 2008 Nationwide car.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. NASCAR 2004

[edit]

Hello there. Lists of drivers are not appropriate for NASCAR articles, per WP:GAMETRIVIA item 6 and WP:NOT. Please don't revert again without further discussion. Thanks! Fin© 20:03, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. I again suggest you read WP:GAMETRIVIA and WP:NOT. There is existing consensus not to include a list of drivers in each NASCAR article (it began with this bit on the 09 talk page). Just because something has a big role does not necessarily mean it is notable enough for inclusion, the same logic applies to something that "is part of a game". Please read the articles I've linked to. Thanks! Fin© 20:17, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Em, why does it matter if I'm an admin or not? Fin© 20:52, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am not claiming ownership, I am simply advising you of existing policies and consensus. Please read them. Also, proclaiming ownership is wrong, regardless of the user being an admin or not. Fin© 22:48, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. Please read the policies I've linked to and cease your reverting of NASCAR 2004. Consensus already exists not to include the drivers. I've already linked to each policy that applies, please read them. Thanks! Fin© 23:41, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello yet again. I noticed this bit on ZimZalaBim's talk page, when I'd a look after he stepped in on the article: "tell...the "soundtrack" on the article had been there for a long time, until he came along and deleted it? ". The fact it had been there for a long time has absolutely no bearing on whether it should be removed. I suggest you have a look at (along with the other pages I've mentioned) wikipedia's list of policies, as you'd be a better editor for it. Thanks! Fin© 00:59, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Em, no, I am not stalking you, I saw ZimZalaBim had reverted you on the NASCAR 2004 page here and went to his user and talk page to see who he was. I saw your contribution and thought it apt to point out that the length of time content has been on an article is not a consideration when removing it - the question was directed at me through him anyway ("would you be able to tell"), so I thought I might aswell answer it directly. Not an admin

[edit]

I noticed that earlier today, you added a userbox to your page saying that you're an admin. Claiming user rights that you don't have is a bad idea. I'd recommend taking that userbox off, and instead adding one of these instead:

{{admin hopeful 2}}
{{User wikipedia/Administrator someday}}

which, respectively, become:

This user is not a Wikipedia administrator but would like to be one someday.
This user is not a Wikipedia administrator but would like to be one someday.

That way, you'll avoid giving the wrong impression. Dori (TalkContribs) 23:39, 26 July 2008 (UTC) [reply]

Regarding this edit:

  1. Please be civil. Your language and tone is inappropriate.
  2. Don't continue to edit war as you are at NASCAR Thunder 2004‎. Discuss the disupted edit on the article's talk page. If you continue with this activity, you risk being blocked.
  3. Don't leave new messages in a talk page archive. Use the talk page itself.

Thanks. --ZimZalaBim talk 01:53, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just seconding this notice. Also, just because other sports games have soundtracks does not mean the NASCAR articles should. I don't think I'm professing ownership of the article, I'm just keeping up with existing consensus and policies, something I've already linked to on this talk page. Please read them, this is the fifth time I've asked you. Thanks! Fin© 10:38, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brett Favre

[edit]

Look at the talk page of Brett Favre as to why dates in titles are fairly pointless, especially in the future, because nobody will really remember what happened in the year 2007 in terms of football. More importantly, it really isn't consistent with the rest of the section titles in the article. Please join the discussion on the talk page over there. I wont revert though, because a discussion is warranted first. -Inzweep (talk) 16:42, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dominic, What Did We Say...

[edit]

...about putting past winners of NASCAR races into future NASCAR race pages?

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. NoseNuggets (talk) 9:40 AM US EDT Sept 8 2008

The past winners are listed on the main Las Vegas 400 page. There is no need to put them onto the 2009 Las Vegas 400 page. And as such, you are being reported to the supervisors for that comment about "chicken nuggets" as well. NoseNuggets (talk) 8:40 AM US EDT Sept 9 2008.
Consider this your final warning, after what you did to the 2008 Ford 400.

Please stop your disruptive editing, such as the edit you made to 2008 Ford 400. If your vandalism continues, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. NoseNuggets (talk) 2:39 PM US EDT Sept 12 2008

NoseNuggets is a well-respected editor at Wikipedia even if he/she is not an administrator. Administrative rights are not a big deal, and well-respected editors are expected to give warnings such as this. Administrators are selected by the community to deal with tasks that are too dangerous for an average contributor to do, such as block users, delete pages, protect pages from edit warring. What Nose is saying is that consensus (see WP:CONSENSUS) says that editors should not be added former winners for a race into future race articles. I do agree with that consensus. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a statistics database , and there are plenty of other options available to readers to find out those statistics. Adding content to articles when you know that it is contrary to consensus is considered disruptive (see Wikipedia:DISRUPT#Definition_of_disruptive_editing_and_editors / Rejects community input) and it can get you blocked. You've received plenty of warnings and you better heed them. Royalbroil 05:04, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Wally Dallenbach TNT 2009.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Wally Dallenbach TNT 2009.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 00:47, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This image is non-free. Non-free images may only be used within the strict confines of our non-free content criteria. This image was tagged as it lacked a non-free use rationale- an explanation of how it meets those policies. After reviewing the image and article, I can assure you that it does not meet those guidelines, as it is adding nothing to the page, and can easily be replaced by free images- there already are free images on the page. As such, I recommend you remove the image from the article and wait for it to be deleted. J Milburn (talk) 01:34, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Read the non-free content criteria, and our non-free content guidelines generally. Basically, a screenshot could never be used for a driver who is still alive, as that would be replaceable- someone could just come along and take a free picture. For a driver who is dead, and of whom there are no free pictures, a single non-free picture for the infobox would usually be acceptable. J Milburn (talk) 12:30, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Mike Joy.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Mike Joy.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 01:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Sam Hornish 09 Phoenix.jpg 2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 22:36, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wave Energy Drink. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

I'm surprised that someone has nominated the product for deletion, especially a nationally produced product (I assume). I usually deal with biographies. The general notability (WP:NOTE) would probably apply. You need to find at least 2 (but 5 is much better) reliable sources that describe the product, and these sources need to be independent of the product (not from the marketing department). So this is excellent, this one too, this is an okay source for the NASCAR info, very good, a GOLDEN source from a business magazine. I found these all in the first 2 pages on google. Other golden sources would be Time magazine, NY Times.com (very searchable), etc. Here's an excellent article from the Wikipedia Signpost on the topic. So this should be an easy article to save. That's probably why no one has voted to delete it! Royalbroil 01:32, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Dominic Edward Aragon! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 4 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Proposed deletion of Cibola County Beacon

[edit]

The article Cibola County Beacon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of WP:NOTABILITY

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. I don't see a strong case for notability here. While he is the mayor, that doesn't automatically guarantee notability. The article needs references that have significant coverage about the subject that are reliable and, importantly, independent of the subject or where he works.
