Conflict of interest noticeboard reporting

[edit]

Hello. Please give editors an opportunity to respond to talk page notices first before reporting them to WP:COIN. As noted in the Additional notes section at the top of the notice board, "This page should only be used when ordinary talk page discussion has been attempted and failed to resolve the issue, such as when an editor has repeatedly added problematic material over an extended period." Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:06, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ETSI is a not for profit organization making standards. As I'm from ETSI, I do not violate any copyright, can you please remove this from the NFV page and let me update it again? thank you Claireboyer (talk) 13:32, 2 August 2019 (UTC)Claireboyer[reply]

Hello @Claireboyer: thanks for reaching out. There are a couple of problems with your edits: 1) the text you added at Network function virtualization is copy-pasted from here, and as you can see there is a clear copyright notice ("© Copyright 2019, ETSI"). Pasting copyrigthed material to wikipedia pages is not allowed. 2) As you amits here above, you are from ETSI and therefore you are in a position that implies a conflict of interests. You are invited to carefully read the notes included in the welcome messages I left on your talkpage where you will find the instructions to regularize your position and how you can keep on contributing to the articles where you have a COI issue. Allopregnanolone

[edit]

I'm not sure why you keep changing the allopregnanolone page. Allopregnanolone is NOT known as brexanolone (this is a Sage Pharmaceuticals designation, as is Zulresso. Let's keep WIKI accurate and not have it serve as an advertising platform.

Allopregnanolone Changes

[edit]

Brexanolone (Zulresso) is used by Sage Pharmaceuticals in the same way duloxetine (Cymbalta) is used by Eli Lilly. These are "trade" names for their development products. Allopregnanolone has been known and studied for decades, and referred to as: allopregnanolone, 3alpha, 5alpha THP, etc. The name Brexanolone originates with Sage, not with the scientific community. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Regarding the user "Topbestpeople"

[edit]

Hi Doeb! I just saw that you reported Topbestpeople (talk · contribs) on WP:AIV. I went through the the edits, and it seems pretty evident to me that we have an LTA or a mass sockpuppeter on our hands. I wanted to ask you if you have any idea as to if the reported user is a sock, and if it, whose it is. Thanks! -- JavaHurricane 12:58, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @JavaHurricane: to be honest I have no idea. What makes you think this user is a sock? --DoebLoggs (talk) 13:02, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not true information about Anne-Marie

[edit]

Hello, I saw that some people edit article about Anne-Marie and they're adding not true information about 5G. I saw that you edited it not a long time ago. What I want to say is that this article about 5G in which writes that Anne-Marie said that, is fake. I can say you how it was : Anne-Marie tweeted something about 5G, but there wasn't anything about that coronavirus is caused by 5G. Then one person tweeted that she said that, even when she didn't. Not a long time later, someone wrote article about this. But as you can see now, she has never said something like that. As I like her music, I don't want anyone to destroy her reputation by saying such a fake things! So please, look at her twitter and you will see that this is fake. If you delete this information from her Wikipedia page, then thank you. Agaxx123 (talk) 11:45, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed this. Are you aware of WP:DAILYMAIL? Did you get a warning when you restored the dodgy tabloid material to the BLP? Do you still think this is a good source? --84.64.251.19 (talk) 00:22, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 84.64.251.19, thanks for reaching me out. I re-read the edit I reverted and to be honest I see no problem with the paragraph I reinstated:
Following Terre'Blanche's murder in April 2010 she was hounded by the international press for an interview. Eventually she gave a full length interview to Britain's Daily Mail. == This is a fact, we have a reference to the interview.
The interview was also republished in all Independent Online titles across South Africa. == this is a fact also, I checked and found that.
She said in the interview that she was writing her memoirs == this is a fact, she did it.
and that she works as a restaurant hostess in Lambertville, New Jersey. == this also seems to be true, and in any case seems to be of minor importance, feel free to remove this last sentence if you want.
As concerns the reliability of the Daily Mail as a source, you may want to remove it if you think it is the case, but why should we remove the related paragraph when it is not controversial and factually true?
Cheers and happy editing

Hans Langsdorff

[edit]

Hello DoebLoggs. Thank you - that explanation makes sense and is reasonable to me. Sadly the person (or party connected to that person) who made the edits convinced the town to strike Langsdorffs name from a street - meaning by the time I noticed the vandalism it was already too late. As the town did not have the time to perform the correct research themselves, they did not take the time to consult the source material, meaning the unfair portrayal of a historical figure carried the day. But, it's not just about a street - it's about intentionally misrepresenting facts for personal or political gain. My response is normally to try to correct the error, although I can understand why that may have appeared to be an attack in and of itself. Thank you for the offer to help keep an eye on the page. While the vandalism may or may not resume for Langsdorff, I suspect this same person may strike again in other articles as there is a strong political motivation for them to do so. BSL4 facilities for extraterrestrial samples

[edit]

Hello, you have reverted both my edits related to 1/ biocontained facilities for extraterrestrial samples, and 2/ BSL4 worldwide. 1/ This edit was following my previous edit of the [[1]]. The paragraph was incorrect, stating that facilities were going t be build, when it was only a project in Vienna (of which I was part of), and a study from NASA JPL that has not led yet to an actual building. Building a biocontained facility in the US or in Europe is a hot topic, with negotiations happening between NASA and ESA, and I wouldn't want the subject to be misrepresented. 2/ The BSL4 section lacks references, and the reference I added is the latest work that comprehensively list BSL4 worldwide. I apologize if the reference was not well inserted. I still believe the reference should appear in the article. Thank you!

Leopoldino aqueduct

[edit]

Please, read here. "Leopoldino aqueduct" is not the correct name. In the books the aqueduct is called "Lorenese Aqueduct" or "Acquedotto di Colognole": the Lorenese Aqueduct was built between 1793 and 1816, under Ferdinand III (no Pietro Leopoldo, no Leopoldo II). The page should be moved (you see here). --Etienne (Li) (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 14:22, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Why do you think that 'British common law' means English law and not Law of the United Kingdom? I assume that because you reverted my change. What is a constuctive edit versus a nonconstructive edit? Does it have to do with format? Or content? Please tell me how the descendants of those who experienced the Great Famine and or American Indian Boarding Schools do not serve as examples of transgenerational trauma? (I obviously do not know how to add citations, so I can understand how those are not in whatever format this "free" community has dictated to be acceptable). Also, how are women, females, and girls not an affected group? Childbirth is still the leading cause of death for persons with wombs, what am I missing? (Oh, I know it is a lot, but hey, why not focus on the positives, right?! And be constructive!!! Whatever that means...) But thank you for the template response to my attempts to update what may very well be a pseudoscience entry. I mean, thanks, I have really benefited from this experience. Or have you? Who has? The energy sector corporations whose electricity powers the servers this "free" encyclopedia uses. Who else? Me slash I (talk) 10:15, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Me slash I: thanks for reaching out. Two problems with your edit: 1. You added internal links in an inappropriate format. 2. You added a totally inappropriate and unconstructive comment as edit summary of your edit, or should I consider words like "You can suck it, whoever you are. And suck it good and hard." appropriate and constructive?
While it is fully acceptable for inexperienced editors to make mistakes with link formats, it is not at all acceptable to attack other editors. --DoebLoggs (talk) 10:33, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I have added the same piece of accurate information 4 times now to the Fearne Cotton Wiki page.

It has been deleted each time, twice by users and twice by bots.

Please revert your edit as this is becoming tiresome now. Wearethemissile (talk) 09:54, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Shouty IP editor - you didn't use an edit summary when you removed the content, so nobody would have known why you removed it. Edits like that are often reverted - you need to explain what you're doing, so people can understand. That said, I've just read the paragraph, and I agree with you that it should not be in the article. I've removed the whole section, as it was entirely sourced to primary sources like YouTube videos. Death Deity

[edit]

Hello mr DoebLogga. Im the one who keeps deleting some deities from death deities simply because they arent. Hades isn't actually the god of death neither Persephone or Hermes. Just because they are underworld deities doesn't mean they are also instantly death deities and Hermes is a psychopomp not a death god. 2A02:587:1F09:F00:851F:3438:CF34:87B2 (talk) 11:45, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

What do you mean??? And please im telling you the truth. Hades isn't actually the god of death neither Persephone or Hermes.Once in Persephone page they said that she is the goddess of life and destruction while thats not true even for a joke. First of all she didn't gave life to humans and every good could destroy something Please also remove Hades, Hermes and Hermes from death gods and death goddesses because they are not. 79.131.165.0 (talk) 12:59, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Osteopathy

[edit]

Hi DoebLoggs, Thank you for your message. I appreciate that you may think that my edit on the Osteopathy page was not helpful, however I disagree with the phrase that osteopathy is a pseudo-science. On the contrary, we are a profession that is regulated, via Privy Council by The General Osteopathic council - FACT. We undergo rigorous training which is a minimum of four years full time and grants an honours degree. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saltpie (talkcontribs) 15:52, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I’m afraid I’m not sure I understand what is questionable?
it is a fact that osteopaths undertake rigorous training at undergraduate level, lasting a minimum of four years full time.
it is a fact that Osteopath is a protected title.

Complaint

[edit]

@DoebLoggs: I came across <this> rollback you did. To me it seemed like a good-faith edit and I did not see you explain it anywhere - so I just wanted to make sure you were aware in case it was a mistake or you needed a refresher on the guidelines Girth Summit explained and linked when they gave you your rollbacker permission. That's all, thanks. – 2804:F14:80D6:AB01:5D43:9A23:9463:918A (talk) 20:11, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it was a good faith edit, in fact I didn't post a notice on your talk page. I just considered it an unnecessary edit since the link to the article about Italy is already in the settlement infobox just beside. For this reason I consider that rollback fully acceptable. Thanks for reaching out and happy editing, --DoebLoggs (talk) 13:31, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
1) That IP is not me. 2) As the context of the section I had posted this under (apologies for not noticing your preference for new posts at the bottom) you are not allowed to use rollback for good faith edits, you are only allowed to use rollback, specially without providing a reason, for undoing vandalism (and some other specific uses, see WP:ROLLBACKUSE).
That is what Girth Summit meant with the words for its intended usage of reverting vandalism. That is why I mentioned it. – 2804:F14:808A:2D01:B982:3A4F:1B61:3B8F (talk) 23:46, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request to remove section from article that is not neutral

[edit]

hi a couple of months ago you left a message on my talk page in which you reverted the changes I made to an article. I made the changes because I thought that the particular section was not neutral. Furthermore the news article it linked to was an opinion piece. The article is very long and needs a cleanup. Therefore I think the section should be removed. It is unnecessary and not neutral. Furthermore it doesn't fit with the articles tone. So kindly allow me to remove it. Thanks. Knightknight12345 (talk) 14:51, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Knightknight12345:, you do not need to ask my permission, just open a discussion on the talk page about your concerns and find a consensus about removing the section you think is inappropriate. Bye and happy editing, --DoebLoggs (talk) 14:56, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But I had a reason to remove that particular section. It was not neutral and was unnecessary. Being neutral is the rule of wikipedia. Plus the page is too long and the whole section is irrelevant. I removed the article once but you reverted it and said that this was vandalism Knightknight12345 (talk) 15:01, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Knightknight12345:, you may think it is not neutral and unnecessary, but other users may not. Discussion is supposed to help reaching a consensus version where all parties are satisfied. Please read Wikipedia:Consensus and act accordingly.
By the way, I never said your edit was vandalism, I just said it "did not appear to be constructive". Removing significant sections from an article without previous discussion with other users (except in cases of blatant vandalism or other specific issues) is actually unconstructive and do not comply with Wikipedia policies.
I recommend you to familiarise with Wikipedia's policies and afterwards I'm sure you will be able to find a viable solution to your concerns about the article under discussion and any other article you will want to contribute to. Thanks, DoebLoggs (talk) 07:24, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
