Welcome!

Hello DodgerOfZion, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  --best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 19:05, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Dodger - And a merry whatever it is you celebrate too :) To sign your name you just need to type three tildas (~~~) and to sign and date put four tildas (~~~~). In the edit box, this will just look like tildas, but when you save the page the software automatically converts it for you. If you have java enabled on your browser you will see a signature looking button at the top of the edit box (it is the second from the right) if you click this it will automatically put four tildas for you. If you want to change how your signature appears, you can go to "my preferences" which is at the top right of the webpage. There you can alter your signature. I've done this which is why my signature looks a little different from other's. Does this help? Again, welcome!--best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 01:01, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as at Talk:Cabell County, West Virginia, (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

I had to dig way down into the history to figure out who put the “cleanup on asile 3” statement and when. I understand that you’re an experienced editor, so I’m going to AGF (unlike what I said in the edit summary) and assume that you were probably new back in ‘05 when that statement was put on there. But that is a major reason why it’s good to sign your posts. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 20:16, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was in college and just starting all this; I remembered removing something that was irrelevant on an article, but wasn't sure what exactly. I was very confused when I got this message. I thought my account got hacked to be honest. But It's been nearly twenty years. I think I do sign everything now. DodgerOfZion (talk) DodgerOfZion (talk) 02:59, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
