Dear Wikipedia Team,
I am writing to respectfully request that you reconsider the decision to delete our newly created page for our ski school. This is the first page I have created, and it holds significant importance for our mission and long-term goals.
Our ski school is dedicated to promoting sport and sports education, with a particular focus on cross-country skiing. We believe that having a Wikipedia page is vital for us to reach a wider audience and establish credibility as a trusted source in our field. This page will not only inform potential participants about our paid courses but also serve as a platform to promote our non-profit initiatives aimed at increasing accessibility to sports and fostering community integration.
We are deeply committed to reversing the decline in the popularity of cross-country skiing, and we see this Wikipedia page as a crucial tool in achieving that mission. We have long-term plans to expand our platform, including offering more non-profit activities to support the community.
I kindly ask that you take these points into consideration and allow our page to remain on Wikipedia.
Thank you for your time and understanding.
Best regards,) --Dmitry Solt (talk) 13:32, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Dmitry Solt: Wikipedia is not a business directory, so a company is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest.
- Wikipedia makes no distinction between for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations in this regard. Both are subjected to the notability requirements equally. You might believe that Wikipedia is a good place to tell the world about a worthy cause, but that is not true. Unless this organization is proven to be notable, your efforts will be seen as promotional. Wikipedia does not allow for promotion, publicity or advertising, which is what your aim is. You cannot use Wikipedia to gain notability; this is an encyclopedia for topics that are already notable.
- It would appear that you have an affiliation with this organization, so you should disclose the details of your involvement with them. And, if you are employed by them, then it is mandatory for you to disclose this information in accordance with Wikipedia's policy on disclosure of paid editing.
- Finally, the edits you made were on your userpage; this is not its purpose. A userpage is a special page where you can write a small amount about yourself, your interests and goals as they relate to editing Wikipedia, and any relevant disclosures of conflicts of interest or paid editing. The userpage guidelines have more details about what is considered appropriate content. The draft article space is the more appropriate place for article creation. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:55, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
