Talk preferences
I don't use my watch-list very much, so you may need to ping me if I don't respond to something. But, for the most part, I prefer to keep the discussion on the page where it started, or at least link it back to the relevant article talk page. But I'm pretty easy going, so whatever you prefer is fine. If we start talking, I'll keep up. Quinn ☂THUNDER 14:25, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

I am currently awaiting the 7 day period to move my page User:David Able --> User:Quinn1. Notability questions
Greetings, David -- fascinating to read people talking about you in cyberspace. On the notability question, may I refer you to these cites that have not yet turned up on the Wiki page: http://nationaljournal.com/magazine/political-insiders-poll-20110120 (Questions that get asked of about 100 of us on each side of the aisle every week or so by National Journal Magazine) and http://www.campaignsandelections.com/publications/campaign-election/2009/july-2009/shop-talk-beyond-dumpster-diving (a 2009 roundtable in which I participated for Politics magazine) PS I still do work in New York occasionally, but not much since Giuliani's presidential campaign of 2007-08. See you around the campus GaryWMaloney (talk) 20:17, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
:Y'know, those are all good articles. You should include content from them on the WP article. I could really care less if your article stays or goes. You should perhaps ponder whether you want to have a WP article about you...you know the good comes with the bad, right? Seriously, I don't know you or your work from a raindrop in a bucket. Just saw it mentioned somewhere (the COIN board, I think) . So, if you can establish notability and make a case for your article to exist, by all means, do so...on the article talk page or the AFD notice. Not on my talk page. Thanks! --Quinn CLOUDY 04:25, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- That was a little to abrupt, let me clarify:
Ok, ok, ok....you know what? I'm sorry. Gary, listen: You caught me when I was just scrolling through my notifications, and I assumed the worst. Re-reading your post, you seem like a nice guy. So, again, I'm sorry.
First off, I honestly have no idea who you are. I don't know anything about you, nor do I care, other that what was posted on the Wikipedia article and a brief Google search about you. Perhaps you have an intern or something who says you should have a Wikipedia article to help your "search engine results." That's understandable...but I want you to realize that the good always comes with the bad. Around here we call it the boomerang or the Streisand Effect. Basically, if the news reports about you are focused on negative things, well, you're probably better off not having a Wikipedia article in the first place. You have absolutely no control over it, I don't care what anybody says to the contrary. A lot of people think they can manipulate Wikipedai for promo purposes...but there are too many of us to make that work in the long run. So, I am glad you think your notable, as far as Wikiepedia goes, but I wonder if you should take a step back and ponder how- if at all- that is important to you. In effect, by supporting a WP article about you, you are giving everyone, including those who dislike you, an open forum to air out an criticisms. And in your job, it seems to me that acting in a...well, questionable manner...is all part of the job. Politics, right? b I understand that. But Wikipedia will call it how the newspapers see it. So take care. And think about it. I wish you the best, and invite you to ask me for help anytime. Thanks! --Quinn CLOUDY 05:04, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- And just a piece of advice: I said you have "no control" over the article; BUT if you were (as the person in question) to request it DELETED, then it would probably be so, due to the Biographies of Living People policies we have in place. No guarantees though. --Quinn CLOUDY 05:21, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Mighty Quinn -- Thanks for the advice, most educational. Promise not to bother you again. GaryWMaloney (talk) 13:05, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Diana Ross
Hi Quin, as talked about on on this page, wikipedia user Bokiluis has made three more POV, peacock and unsourced edits. I notified Wiki:AIAV again (second time today). Started digging around his 'contributions', and I can't understand why Ross doesn't sell that much albums anymore, for this user seems her biggest fan ever. ;) Also, though tiring to clean up, his edits have such a certain fantasy and 'spin', that he would be a great spindoctor for many politicians. :P Anyhow, just wanted to keep you, sort of, posted. - I responded to your first post not knowing exactly what ILT stood for (I gleaned that it was a user, but wasn't sure to whom you were referring). The article Red Bluff, Mississippi (geologic formation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Screwed up the move and disambig...but got that fixed. The page can be correctly seen as Red Bluff (Mississippi landmark). This page and the talk needs to be deleted. Sorry Quinn ✩ STARRY NIGHT 01:14, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Quinn ✩ STARRY NIGHT 01:14, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Completely new abortion proposal and mediation
In light of the seemingly endless disputes over their respective titles, a neutral mediator has crafted a proposal to rename the two major abortion articles (pro-life/anti-abortion movement, and pro-choice/abortion rights movement) to completely new names. The idea, which is located here, is currently open for opinions. As you have been a contributor in the past to at least one of the articles, your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
The hope is that, if a consensus can be reached on the article titles, the energy that has been spent debating the titles of the articles here and here can be better spent giving both articles some much needed improvement to their content. Please take some time to read the proposal and weigh in on the matter. Even if your opinion is simple indifference, that opinion would be valuable to have posted.
To avoid concerns that this notice might violate WP:CANVASS, this posting is being made to every non-anon editor who has edited either page (or either page's respective talk page) since 1 July 2010, irrespective of possible previous participation at the mediation page. That user got blocked in the meantime and thus I'm not sure he'll return to read comments on his talk. To see who created the article, click "history" at the top and then "earliest" at the bottom (sorry for trivial comment, you likely know this). You can't see the history of deleted pages, but you can ask any admin (e.g. the one who deleted the page - his/her username you can see by clicking on the red link for that page) to tell about the deleted article and even temporarily restore it if needed. Anonymous editors (IPs) can't create mainframe articles. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 01:29, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Not trivial at all. I did not know that, and am glad to now. Thanks. I thought you were the editor/admin who deleted the article, which is why I asked on your page. Anyway, nothing to be done now. I'm moving on. Thanks for your response! :) Quinn ☂THUNDER 01:32, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- I deleted two versions, another admin deleted the 3rd, and yet another blocked the editor .. Anyway, don't hesitate to ask such "simple" things - they often take many minutes to figure out 1st time, and seconds to explain. Materialscientist (talk) 02:05, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Please take a look at the relevant RFC page before responding and be sure that you are willing and able to enter that environment and contribute to making the discussion a calm and productive one focussed on the content issue at hand. Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited Jim Rome, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Showtime (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thank you
Thanks for understanding where I was coming from. There is a world of difference between expressing an opinion on a subject, and telling a new person that they have no business expressing an opinion or asking a question and then setting them a work program where YOU think they'd be useful. And he kept doing that part again and again, as if I'm his servant. If I want someone's advice as to where to work, I will go and ask for it on a project page!
I'm grateful that you provided evidence that at least some people here can see that 'pushback' was a likely result of this attitude. At the moment, the fact that "they're not all mad" is about the only thing stopping me from ending my involvement. Orfeocookie (talk) 23:49, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- I know it's difficult and you are frustrated. I would suggest simply working on "other stuff" in the mean time, and keeping this particular article on a "slow pace" as far as big changes go. Mathsci has worked very long and hard on this article, so, despite Wikipedia's perrogative of bold editing, I'd suggest maybe stepping away for a bit, and pursuing this only as a side project until you get a little more established. I have a couple of things I'm working on that could use some help, but are perhaps outside of your interest. So, anyway, the point is that I am here if you need a positive "shoulder" to keep you editing. The last thing we wan t is a good editor giving up b/c of a bad experience. :) Quinn ❀ BEAUTIFUL DAY 03:58, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. Ironically, my pace has been very slow. I haven't altered a single word! And I doubt I would ever dare. I suspect that my editing is largely going to be confined to correcting obvious spelling or grammatical mistakes - which is pretty much what I used to do without an account anyway, as one isn't necessary for that purpose, but I suppose I had better log in to do it from now on just so that my edit count goes up. I am unlikely to be in a position to add genuinely new content very often - the List of compositions by Vagn Holmboe was a holiday project (and a surprisingly long one given it is just a list) and in the ordinary course of things I don't have the time to do that much in the way of consciously researching for sources. Nor is it my strength. Wikipedia uses the term 'edit' to cover a great many different concepts, and the ones I have expertise in relate more to considering the most effective means of presenting content already found by others. So it depends on what kind of help you'd like. The subject matter actually doesn't matter an enormous amount - my real-life job asks me to dive into all sorts of subjects with little notice, from offshore drilling to auction theory to wine labels (and amidst all this drama, the bright spot of my day was being told by a client how amazed they were at how much I'd picked up their particular subject within 3 weeks), so if you want any comments on structure/presentation I'm happy to comment. But only if you want it! I've certainly learnt THAT lesson for the moment. Orfeocookie (talk) 14:18, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Request for comment on Theosophy page and Theosophy Talk page
Hello,
An editor of the Theosophy article and its Talk page created a Request for Comment involving both the article and its Talk page. Now I'm asking five to ten uninvolved editors from the religion/philosophy section of Wikipedia:Feedback request service to comment on the Theosophy Talk page.
If you are able and willing to comment that would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
