Welcome to the one hundred and sixty ninth WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.
Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 17,926 last month to 17,979 on 29 April 2022). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 205 is ahead of WP:GM who have 92. WP:YORKS also has the lead in FAs at 88 while WP:GM has 69 out of a total number of 4,733 articles.
Currently we have seventy Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.

The May 2022 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no nominations on the project talk page.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. I don't mind at all that you reverted my edit. I'm just used to it being called "drunk-driving" and have never heard of it being called "drink-driving" before. Furthermore, I'm still relatively new to being an editor on Wikipedia, and in all honesty, it's quite confusing and disorienting to navigate, so thank you very much for linking some more articles for me to read through to improve my future edits. Once again, thank you very much for correcting me and I'll be sure to read through the articles you linked.

another Ukraine day today: Maks Levin DYK, expanding Kyiv Symphony Orchestra (have tickets), and creating Anthony Robin Schneider, the bass who could be heard opening the singing in Beethoven's Ninth twice on 10 March 2022, live in Frankfurt, Germany, and recorded in Auckland, New Zealand, singing "Freiheit!" Hi WhiskyOrVodka and thank you for the message. I honestly think that this would be much better discussed at the article's Talk page, here: Talk:Ode to Joy. That way you will potentially get both more scrutiny of the idea and more help implementing it, whereas if we discuss it right here, on my Talk page, we will probably not get very far since we both already know what the other one thinks! Band in a Box revisit
You wrote me a nice note about Band In A Box a while back. The article was recently drastically edited by an unregistered user whom I believe has removed good parts of it including sound files, believing the article was too promotional was probably written by a PR agent of the company, which is untrue. Hi - John Hooker was my stepfather and was organist and caretaker of Union Chapel from 1973 to 2002 - so that is the correct spelling of his name, rather than John 'Rooker'. I've therefore edited it in the Wiki page. Hope OK -

DB&A: A follow-up question about Copland, if you don't mind. I've heard different reports about how "difficult" Copland is to play. For trumpet, what would you say? I guess it depends what level you are at too ... maybe you are with Boston Symphony, in which case no doubt his stuff isn't too hard? Maybe for non-pro players it is more of a challenge. Oh, what an interesting question! For trumpet I would say moderately challenging but nothing unreasonable. I think there's little or nothing to worry a pro player. I honestly don't know about his string writing but his brass stuff seems quite idiomatic and well-researched – that is, it works well, is hard enough to make you feel you earned your money, but doesn't make foolish demands. The Fanfare is a case in point: it is challenging to make sure it is beautiful, together, in tune etc but there's nothing to keep a pro player awake at night and anyway they have all played it 673 times! Finally: Vivaldi. I didn't find anything scientific but at least a decent program note. Please check if you could anything from there, such as what you see in the score. That can be used. What do you think of the new external link? - I made a DYK nomination, because I had to. (sorry about the restructuring, hope you don't mind) ... Hi Gerda Arendt – I have only a rather weak ref for it being the only trumpet concerto – please see the ITG section on the Talk page. I will try and look at other stuff. Is it being his only tpt concerto so obvious that it is one of those The Sky Is Blue things??
The programme note is not bad – I rather like it! – but it is less academic than I had hoped. I don't mean to sound rude but I am not a fan of the cutesy language like empty the plumbing. I will expound on this if you like but the short version is that the slow movement usually needs to contrast, and natural trumpets are unsuitable in various ways and are often (but not always) omitted. We don't do a lot in the slow movement of Brandenburg 2 either! Getting water out of it is trivial and routine and commenting on it doesn't add anything. Again I will continue to look for better refs.
The new EL to the Thai university PDF is not up to scratch and, with all due respect, should be omitted. I also think it violates the programme note's copyright or something very close to it.
Sorry, I feel like I am sounding grumpy, negative and tactless! None of that is intended ... I am a bit up against my commitments and more than a bit knackered (see username) and I'm just trying to say helpful stuff without apologizing every 10 seconds. My other source, Fallows' Mandell Creighton and the English Church, OUP, 1964, capitalizes von throughout, e.g. even Louise Von Glenn daughter of Robert Von Glenn ... I don't want to go that far, considering there is a WP article on her. Also, I'm not sure if the modern radar about these things had existed in 1964 when Fallows wrote his book.
