WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".
Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.
- Each casebook will have a subpage.
- Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
- It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
- Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
- I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.
What you can do now:
- 1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
- 2. If you're a law student,
- Email http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
- Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.
- (You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
- 3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

1. This page has a major malfunction within the drop-down outline menu. It has ceased to work. Help!
2. This page has several malfunctions within the information box, including the failure of the "NCAA Championships" header to appear. Help!

- Hi. Could you please explain in more detail what is wrong - perhaps link to an old version which 'works'? I have looked at the article, and I don't know what you mean. If you mean the four drop-downs at the end of the article, they seem to be working fine to me. And the information box is displaying the years of the NCAA champ years - is it supposed to do something more?
- I have looked at a version from a few days ago, and cannot see anything much different.
- Please give more information.
- Also, please start to use edit comments. Because you have not done so, it is impossible to tell (in the article history) what type of changed you have made, without analysing each one. Edit comments make these things much easier, that's one of the reasons why they are so important. Chzz ► 04:38, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, Chzz. Another helpful editor already appeared to fix the info box problem. The other problem is with the Show/Hide function in the "Contents" box. It is permanently stuck in the show/open/drop-down function, and will not hide/condense. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:44, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've fixed the first problem also. It too was due to Template:Infobox college golf team being incorrectly written, but I won't bore you with the details, unless you really want to know. ∙ AJCham talk 04:59, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you, sir. No details necessary----I'm a scribbler and a wordsmith, not a code writer. I have, however, encountered the same problem on the Florida Gators soccer page. [edit]I don't think of myself being particularly adept with layouts, templates, etc., but I suppose I get by pretty well. University of Florida archival materials release
[edit]Generaly we look to get a release along the lines of this one. Actualy getting such a release can be quite a trick mind although universities tend to be better than some. Good luck.©Geni 17:09, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, Geni. I have three things going for me. One, we are only asking for the release of about two dozen post-1923 photos (primarily, former university presidents and the like). Two, the University Historian (actually, a full-time paid position) wants to help improve the quality of the primary University of Florida Wiki articles. Three, one of my '97 law school classmates is the university's deputy general counsel. That sounds like a trifecta. How do I create an archive page for previous talk page conversations?
- Well, there are numerous methods; WP:ARCHIVE outlines them in full. You could either move your talk page to an archive page or manually copy-paste the text from here to another page.
